Stopped here for dinner after a Sunday afternoon drive across the Kancamagus Highway that was abbreviated by storms. Â While this restaurant doesn't seem to have great reviews, it is a decent place to eat. Â However, I wasn't really wowed by my dining experience, either. Â Service was A-OK, but my server seemed to be more attentive towards the other family having dinner. Â As for the food, they have a decent selection of Mexican food, not too substantial, but you will find plenty of options. Â I decided to have a burrito burger, which is a burger cooked in Mexican and taco spices and put in a burrito, which made it taste more like a taco than your typical hamburger. Â This came with beans and rice. Â I also ordered some enchiladas as a side.
Review Source:They charged me $8.99 for chips and salsa that blatently is stated on the FRONT PAGE of menu as free but on backside of menu says $8.99, I better get a gallon of that stuff but no I didn't. And then charged me me $3.50 for a very small side of guacamole with my dried up gross quesadilla NEVER AGAIN - then the woman/hostess joke proceeded I tell me I was wrong and it said it on the back and I said then they probably should start telling customers the menu is incorrect and they will be charged- she didn't fix anything and charged us full. I tend to over indilge in good and am more than willing to pay overpriced menu items if theyre worth it. This place just made me pissed.
Review Source:I had a moldy pepper, pointed it out to my waitress and received $2 off. Â Any other place would comp the meal. Â Or at least say sorry. Â
The couple next to us asked for a non-alcoholic beverage and received a spiked one. Â Good thing she was pregnant!
Service was abysmal. Â Unresponsive. Â Slow. Â
My food was reheated. Â Not made fresh to order. Â
Fuck you, nachos.
Well, I can't say that we weren't warned, given that when we did a quick drive by and polled some diners exiting this fine establishment, they uniformly said it was nasty -- however, we were in need of margs and maybe it was the "altitude" or maybe it was the fact that we were sitting on a bench seat in a pick up truck, but we decided to dive into the finest Mexican that New Hampshire has to offer.
The margs weren't bad (sweet, made fresh) -- receiving more points for being nothing like what resembled a lime green Slurpee (which was what I fully expected) -- the actual food was borderline inedible. As in our nachos came with something that is more akin to alfredo sauce than cheese. The tacos were apparently okay -- the meat was called "well seasoned" but as cheese wasn't melted, they looked a little sad -- overall, a mistake.
Oh, but, if your palate has no interest in crossing the border, I would rec trying the deep fried burger, if for no other reason than I need someone to report back to me abt this monstrosity. In addition to their "ethnic" offerings, they have abt 5-6 different burgers (incl a veggie burger, props), but none of us dabbled, so I have no thoughts other than this place is effing weird.
In short, if you're skiing at Loon and craving Mexican, you'd do better hopping in your car and driving to Texas or CA than trying to get your fix here.
Very light din for 3 was around $50. Decor is "Mexican", but the chairs are from a 1980s convention center and the tables are from a retirement home's bingo room -- so ambiance is really super romantic -- service is VERY friendly and enthusiastic....that is the nicest thing I can say.
WAY TOO PRICEY! Â Chicken nachos were good, but one plate was barely enough to feed one hungry person never mind to share as an appetizer. Â I've never seen a serving so small and at $8.50 it was just overpriced -- even if they were tasty. Â The margaritas didn't taste homemade, but were decent. Â While we did enjoy the nachos, we won't return unless they make prices in line with serving size or vice versa.
Review Source:Decent Mexican fare. It's not going to win any awards, and if you're particular about your eats you may want to look elsewhere. But they have good margaritas, solid chips and salsa and a tasty chicken quesadilla.
I went off-book for lunch and got the taco burger, which while tasting exactly like you'd expect, was OK but not great. I probably wouldn't go here again, but it was good enough and the ambiance sitting outside was nice.
This is a low-key little cafe, not a full-scale restaurant, and we normally come here for lunch or an early supper. Food is generally good, but sometimes very good. We eat various vegetarian options, some vegan (veggie burritos), some not (cheese enchilada), so I can't report on the meat options.
Review Source:Horrible, horrible, horrible  please do this town a favor and not patronize this restaurant- I'm barely 5 minutes out the door and writing this review. This is my first yelp review and this is the kind of place that compells one to warn others of the mistake of eating here. This place should go out of business. I reallly don't care if its family owned- everything abut it was aweful- the reviews on here are TO THE TEE.  Overpriced, dirty, bad service and so much more.
Review Source:Don't be fooled by the nice outdoor seating. Â The front desk of the hotel even tried telling me not to go here. But I gave it a try. I should have noticed something was not right when a Mexican restaurant had only Asian workers. I love Asian places but they should not be running a Mexican joint. The food was OK, except for the Nachos. But the Service was awful and the drinks were way overpriced and did not taste good. Moral of the story listen to the hotel front desk, if you ask their advice
Review Source:Well, too bad I did not follow my usual routine of checking yelp before entering a restaurant, I thought that we could not go wrong with mexican but yes, you can go WRONG if you enter Nachos Mexican Grille.
Don't waste your money or your appetite on this overpriced place.
Salad with Beef - meat impossible to chew, bit of lettuce and other stuff.
Chimichanga - pretty much no filling at all, just deep-fried tortilla and a side of sour cream. Truly worst mexican place I have ever been to. Stay away!!!
Skip this place! Â Here are my complaints, ordered by chronological experience:
1. Â Not much of a menu. Â But that wasn't a big deal since I usually get Chimichangas which they had. Â I usually like Queso with chips but they don't serve it.
2. Â Ordered the House Margarita. Â It was about 6 oz. served in a plastic margarita cup and was mostly margarita mix with a splash of tequila (if any at all, couldn't taste it).
3. Â My wife ordered a beer from the menu but they didn't have it (Negra Modello). Â Again, not a big deal but they served her second choice in the bottle. Â She asked for a glass and they brought a plastic children's cup and said that's all they have.
4. Â First batch of chips were stale, second batch was average.
5. Â Salsa for chips was seemingly just a can of crushed tomatoes with red pepper flakes. Â No trace of cilantro, garlic, onion, anything that would make up a real salsa. Â Very bland.
6. Â Served the Chimi's alone on a plate. Â No beans, no rice. Â Not even sour cream or guacamole. Â We asked for rice and they brought it out quickly but rice was mushy.
I will say that the Chimi's were okay. Â I had beef, wife had chicken. Â Tasted fine and there were two of them so servings were good size.
7. Â The BILL: Â My wife and I are originally from Texas and Oklahoma (have lived in Mass since 1996) so we LOVE Mexican food and anytime we see a Mexican Restaurant (few up here in Northeast, but getting more each year) that's usually our first choice. Â We have a family with 4 kids and can usually get out for around $60, even at the chains like On The Border, with kids eating off children's menu and she and I getting usually two drinks each. Â At Nacho's our bill was $100 with tip! Â I had to reread the bill several times to believe what I was seeing. Â I understand Lincoln is a resort town and everything costs more but DOUBLE the price for worse food and less food seemed crazy. Â That plate of rice we ordered on the side was $7.95! Â I only had that one Margarita and my wife had that one beer. Â Glad I didn't ask for guac or sour cream with my chimi's. Â May've been another $15.
So, my recommendation is that even if you are dying for Mexican food and see this cute place resist the temptation.
Oh, and it had snowed about 2 inches the day before and the lot still was not plowed. Â It froze over into a muddled sheet of ice. Â That definitely something that I probably would not have noticed had the meal been average, but it was just one more thing.
I really feel bad giving such a harsh critique to a local family owned business, but these are all things that are quickly fixable. Â Not that I'll be back to give it another shot.
Why does this place get such a bad rap? It's standard Mexican food for New England - burritos, tacos, chimichangas - and they also serve burgers. You know what you're getting into as soon as you walk into the door.
The surprise for me was the hot sauce. There's definitely some habanero in there! It packs an unexpected punch.
1/2 a bottle of Tums later, I'm sitting down to write this. We've been coming to Lincoln for years and have always seen this place packed. We finally decided to stop in for lunch. BIG MISTAKE!! The place was filthy; the food barely passable. The waitress was sweet and helpful but that was the only positive thing I have to say about this NASTY, NASTY restaurant. Drove by a few hours later and it was jammin'........?
Review Source:Don't waste your money or your appetite on this overpriced, so called "authentic" mexican food. I wouldn't have even given it one star if yelp hadn't required at least one to post the review.
The servings were skimpy and the "Oaxaca" chicken tacos I had contained mostly iceberg lettuce. Â The platter contained about a third-cup of rice and a third-cup of beans. Â My son ordered the 'kids' tacos which was about 4 dollars less and was the same as my platter minus the skimpy serving of rice and beans.
On our way out, we noticed the dishes piled up in the kitchen which could be seen through the windows from outside and made me think that that there may be sub-standard sanitation conditions. Â
Ewwww, never going back!
My family and I have been coming to Lincoln for years. Typically we dine in but decided to try something new! "Nachos" had been on my mind for a while; every time I drove by I was  intruiged by the bright yellow building with the wrap around deck and fun writing on the windows.
Looks can be deceiving. The outdoor seating was crowded and unorganized. There is no hostess as this is a "first come - first served" kind of place. There were no tables available outside so we sat inside (which was stuffy and unappealing) and ordered some average margaritas to wash down the chips and salsa (the salsa reminded me of cheap pizza sauce).
Wanting to give "Nachos" one last chance, we decided to order the "spicy chicken fingers". The "spicy, red sauce" was actually BUFFALO sauce. Wait, I thought this was a Mexican restaurant...?
Our waitress was friendly and we could tell that she was trying really hard; but overall the service was sub par.
Overall, "Nachos" is DEFINITELY a no-go. My advice is to have "mexican night" at your Condo or Campsite!
I have been going to Lincoln, NH since I was born. I had never tried this place before. I went on Yelp to look at the reviews, I have to admit I was nervous but I wanted to give it a fair shot. I went with a friend and we decided to sit outside on the deck which was very nice. The waitress was also very nice. I got the margaritas which was tasty. For food I got the chicken enchiladas which were awesome and exactly what i was looking for. the rice and refried beans were also very good! At the end of the meal the owner (or i think it was) came over and asked us how our meal was and made sure we had everything we needed. so, good job nachos!
Review Source:We stopped here yesterday on our way to Franconia Notch. We were like "oh Mexican, surely we can't go wrong." well WRONG. I wish we had kept going through the town of Lincoln because it looked like there were lots of other cute places that would have been so much better, but since there was the 4th of July parade going on we didn't want to deal with traffic.
The good:
- Outdoor seating (we could watch some of the parade while eating!
- Decent margaritas (nice frozen drink on a sunny afternoon)
- Veggie options (though I forgot to inquire about the rice and refried beans, so make sure they are vegan when you go there. Otherwise they have this veg mix (mixed veggies) they will add to your dishes
- You can sit outside with your dogs!
The Not-so-good:
- Slow, service took awhile, the food was really slow to come out
- Salsa: the salsa taste like something I'd get if I ordered it from the North End in Boston, it was more Italian than Mexican. Please add some peppers and more cilantro to that sauce!
- No free refills on chips and salsa (not even one free refill. I asked for more salsa for my entree and the waitress asked if I wanted the chips that went with it, and I said either way but it was just the salsa I wanted. So we were supposed to be charged for extra chips and salsa but she forgot to charge us!) Salsa should always be free!
- Mexican Pizza = just bad. I got the Mexican pizza with refried beans and veggies (told them to hold off on the sour cream and cheese since I wanted it vegan). It was just flavorless and they burned my tortilla bad! Like really burned it. Not sure why I didn't' send it back....
I had eaten here 4 times previously over the years. Every time the food and service were very good for Mexican in the White Mountains. Note: realistic expectations for ethnic food in vacation areas like this are required for any "foodie.
What happened?
The food was mediocre, at best, and the service was so poor it was humorous.
Others around us served themselves. They ran out of beef for a gentlemen's tacos. They told him this 15 minutes after he ordered. He then replaced is taco order with a burger, only to have the server come back out 10 minutes later to ask if he wanted cheese. Â One server did not know how to say "beans" when she brought over some black beans.
If you are desperate for Mexican while in Lincoln, enjoy. If you can wait till you arrive at another destination, you're better off.
We ate at Nachos last night. Â It has been a few years since we last ate here and had good memories of good food. Â Those memories have all been erased after last night. Â Usually this means a change in ownership.
Oaxaca tacos were dull and barely filled and the enchiladas were topped with what tasted like a jarred Italian tomato sauce. Â Portions are small but that's an acceptable thing for us. Â The Summer Sangria was nothing special. Â 7 new burgers on the menu. Â So what? Â
Service for us was very good.
Everyone gets drawn in by the outside deck seating which is nothing special, no view and lots of road noise.
Set your expectations low, sit on the deck, have a drink and put down some cash. Â Welcome to Lincoln.
Anyone who eats in Lincoln must bear in mind that this area is a tourist mecca and many of the surrounding restaurants are sub-standard at best. Â They don't need to be good because for every dissatisfied customer there are ten more waiting to be served.
The Nachos Mexican Grille serves mediocre food at high quality prices. Â The portions are served as if every customer is a hobbit and can only ingest 400 calories at one seating.
I tried eating here three or four times and finally gave up. Â If I am going to spend $30.00 for lunch for my small sons and I, our hunger should at least be satisifed. Â The restaurant sits on prime property so they need to pay for their high rent in some way. Â They pay for it on the backs of their customers and in this instance, the customers lose.
I ordered a burger instead of Mexican food, knowing that it probably wasn't going to be very good Mexican food, and sure enough, I was the only one at my table of 4 that ended up somewhat satisfied. Â I will say our waitress from Brazil was very friendly and did her best.
We all ordered pizza later that night because everyone was still hungry.
I wanted to like this place, the outdoor seating was nice and parking was fairly easy. Â But.....
The waitress was totally oblivious, only two in my party. We both ordered sodas and the three amigo dish. She only brought one drink out. We had to ask her later for the other one AGAIN. I wanted a spare plate to spread my food out on so i nicely asked for it. She basically ignored me/and or forgot and never came back. She was a total space cadet or something. 3 Amigo plate was ok. Beans were blah, but the chimichanga and pork thing was good. Beef Taco was AWFUL! avoid that. The salsa and chips were PATHETIC. The chips were clearly out of a bag and crap quality at that.
Too bad, this place has potential but definitely needs to ditch that waitress asap and polish up on a few things. Too bad cause she was aesthetically pleasing (no Homo) LOL
I wish I had this app 24 hrs ago. Had lunch here today and 3 apps @ $6/ea came to $32. Part was a tiny marg for $7 and cokes are $2 a pop including $2 for every refill!! Adding was wrong as well. It's a shame too because food was excellent and deck is great. Sad how many owners are completely disconnected to what their front line folks are doing. Their loss.
Review Source:While the atmosphere is very basic, the food is pretty damn good here. They start you out with fresh salsa and chips. I had the 3 Amigos, because i wanted to try a little of everything. It came with a beef taco, a chicken chimichanga, a pork burrito, and rice and beans. The chicken chimi was perfectly fried and very tasty. The pork burrito was delicious with a nice kick of spice. The beef taco was mediocre and reminded me of the boxed taco kits from the supermarket. I was expecting a fresh tortilla or something, but instead it was just a store-bought taco shell. Rice and beans were decent, but could have been hotter. I asked for hot sauce to go with my meal and was given a nice chunky sauce of habaneros. BF's beef quesadilla was kind of boring, must be the under-seasoned beef. Sister's enchiladas were tasty.
Nachos gets an extra star for their dessert. I forget what it was called but it was basically a fried tortilla drizzled with honey, cinnamon sugar, and whipped cream. It was amazingly delicious, and I would go back just for that.
I'd like to add that my credit card was charged accurately; I was not overcharged.
Check your bill, check your credit card slip, check your credit card statement. Got the bill and I looked at it. The waitress charged us more than the price printed on the menu for 2 different entress. I pointed this out to her and she came back with a corrected bill. I gave her my credit card and she came back with the slip to sign - she had punched in the original, incorrect amount (not the corrected amount). I pointed this out to her and she gave me the difference back in cash. I filled in the tip and total (handwritten out, not numerical, so she couldn't alter it). I just checked my statement - of course, the amount that was put through was more than the amount I signed for on the credit card slip. In just one transaction, she attempted to rip us off 3 times. Good food but not worth the aggravation of feeling ripped off and trying to get a refund when you've been overcharged.
