Good food, not quite making the Irish proud. Good for the area!!
This has become a go-to spot since living here. There food is really good, my favorite being the Shepherd's Pie and Scotch Eggs. They have 2 patios, one by the front entrance and one in the back which is better for the middle of the day when the sun is baking you. They have a  Irish beers on draught (Stella, Smithwicks, Guinness), and the occasional live music. It's always busy on the weekends and it's a cozy bar. I do love that they don't have a million TV's throughout the bar!
Parking is pretty easy  to find. There is a free public lot across the street and the meters are free after 6pm.
It's really the only Irish bar in town, they've got a good thing going for sure, but no real competition. The atmosphere isn't quite what I'm looking for in an Irish bar. But hey, you can't have it all! Go eat here!
Good food, questionable service. Â That about sums it up.
I've been here a few times, including last night, for dinner and drinks with a group of seven. Â It was about 10 degrees outside, and fittingly, service moved like molasses in the wintertime. Â We waited for about 20 minutes before anyone took our drink order (even though we said we were ready to order food too), and about another 15 minutes later the server came out to tell us they were out of the beer one member of our party ordered. Â Still no drinks for the rest of us. Â We waited again, were finally served drinks, and then the server came back out and asked if we needed a few more minutes to decide on food. Â Yeah, no. Â We've been here for-ev-er.
So we ordered food, and when it arrived it was delicious, but not without a hitch. Â One member of our party ordered soup, which was served without a spoon, so she asked for one. Â It took her 10 minutes to get one, and by the time she did get one, her soup was cold so she had to send it back. Â Otherwise, the food was really, really good. Â Like, I might even come back for the shrimp and chips despite the seriously lacking service. Â I also split a pear and bleu salad, which was really good, too. Â
The place has a big selection of beers and cocktails. Â The raspberry martini was absolutely delicious. Â So good. Â I also ordered a rum and diet coke, which came as a double (not sure if that's just the way they serve them, or if the server forgot to ask). Â Everyone seemed happy with the food and drinks themselves, for whatever it's worth.
My advice: Â go for the food and spirits if you aren't in a hurry and can brave the service!
This bar and restaurant is a great place to grab a cold brew or mixed drink with an excellent  selection domestic and imported beers... most of the items on the menu are very good, their traditional style Fish and Chips is one of my favorites, I would also recommend  the Beef Stew that is served at Naggy's, as it is exceptional in portion and flavor.... in my opinion.
Review Source:Half an hour to get a beer on a busy Saturday night? Our server was flustered, confused and downright incompetent. Â Nothing short of grabbing this dufus by the collar would get his attention. I went to the bar, and sure enough, there were our table's drinks, which had been sitting there forever, but the rude bartenders wouldn't let me take them to the table. No thanks. The owner tries hard to please, but I guess it's hard to find good servers in this town.
Review Source:Well I love naggys some of the food is not so great but if i had to pick my favorites it would be the burger, fish and chips, beef stew, clam chowder, and there wings are awesome not impressed with most the rest. I would say this is normal for most pubs.
the place has great atmosphere great irish feel. One of my favorite bloody marys clamota mix
Service has its ups and downs all in all a great place gets loud on friday hope this is helpful!
This is probably another three and a halfer. I liked it (and so did the other half) but it didn't blow me out of the water. The food was pretty good. Bring your appetite because with the heaviness of the grub coupled with the huge portion sizes you will not leave hungry. I had the chicken and dumplings and it was calorically dense yumminess. My husband had a burger I think...it obviously was not super memorable. Fries and gravy were pretty darn good too.
Why the star deduction you ask? First, service. It sucked. The waitress was pretty cool but service was slow. We had a hard time finding her to order, get refills, and get the check. At least that was consistent. The worst part? The absolutely horrible band they had playing. Maybe that's why we were in such a rush to get the check. I can't sing. They couldn't sing more than I can't. It was torture. Maybe it was their ploy to get you to buy drinks, get drunk and numb the pain? They sucked.
Overall, I wouldn't go out of my way to grab a bite here but I wouldn't run the other way either. Give it a try. I just hope the same band never plays there again. Ever.
We went on an early evening/late afternoon when the place was busy but not overly crowded. Drinks and food were slow in coming. I had the "Monster Mac" which wasn't very impressive OR tasty. My friend Laura (hey hey Yelp shout-out!) got the fish and chips and it was delicious. I stole many a chip and the fish was perfection. Obviously pretty greasy but that's to be expected. I don't know I probably wouldn't return just because my food was meh and the service wasn't great either.
Review Source:I don't get out to the bar scene much, but the few times I've been here for meals, I've had good food. I like the pear and blue salad with shrimp. My service has always been good. Only negative was a loud speaker on the patio that no one could seem to turn down, and we couldn't hear eachother at all! Ok for the after 9 crowd, but we were there early with the kids.
Review Source:I stopped by to explore downtown Grand Junction during my travels this summer and, while there, popped into this place for a beer. Â While the service was good and the beer I ordered (Palisades Dirty Hippy) was very tasty, I found this place WAY too over-crowded and noisy. Â Not that I mind a bit of a crowd...but this place was packed! Â And not that I mind a bit of noise (lively conversation, loud music, etc.)...but this was more like totally discordant, head-ache inducing racket: no music that I could hear, just lots of REALLY loud talking/shouting and what seemed to be about 10 different TVs blaring 10 different channels. Â I peeked at the menu, but didn't really see anything that was turnin' my crank. Â So I drank my brew, dropped a tip, and bailed. Â Not a bad place, I just wasn't feeling it, I guess.
Review Source:I'm so bummed to give Naggy's three stars... I even want to give it two, but I hope things come around. Some of their bartenders (mainly Crystal and Tor) are great, but some just make me feel like they're doing me a favor.
Tuesday night at 4:30, I sat at the bar for 10 minutes without a look, a glance, a tip of the hat, not a hand gesture of any kind or ANYTHING. You'd think if you see a regular customer, you'd at least be like 'hey, I'll be right with you guys, we're changing shifts' or whatever. This chick avoided us like we were the plague. I'm a person who has worked at restaurants, it's not that hard to acknowledge your customers! They are not Medusa, as it turns out, THEY GIVE YOU MONEY.
I don't even like the Blue Moon all that much, but we left Naggy's for there, and we got served as soon as we sat down. No teeth pulling required.
Seriously honey, your bull stank.
This is probably one of my favorite pubs in GJ. Â The food here is usually pretty good; I would recommend the beef stew. Â My friend got the mac & cheese once, and it was pretty terrible. Â I think it was a fluke, though. Â
I also love the atmosphere. Â This place is great to meet up with friends after a long hike or to hang out on a Saturday night. Â I've never seen any drama here, and the service is usually pretty good.
Naggy McGee's is my favorite place to eat, have meetings, grab great coffee, or one of their great beers on tap or in bottles. Â The overall feel of their place is perfect for business meetings, solo work (with their fast internet options), or hang outs with friends. Â Their excellent assortment of food has always been good, but it's obvious their always refining to make every meal better and better. Â The food is AWESOME.
The staff is kind, aware of your needs, professional, fun, and allowed to be themselves. Â
I realize this defeats the purpose of review averages, but we all know people are a lot happier to type up a review if they're upset with something. Â If you read a bad review, I encourage you to please take it with a grain of salt. Â
I guarantee I've spent more time at Naggy McGee's than they have. Â I'm not a picky person, but I'm VERY aware of problems in environments, staff, food, drinks, and the overall experience. Â After frequenting almost every restaurant in town (that's worth visiting), Naggy McGee's is my favorite go-to choice hands down.
I highly suggest you give them a shot and write about your experience here.
Naggy McGee's is a good option to get a beer with friends in downtown Grand Junction. Â I've had lunch here a few times now. Â Last night seven of us enjoyed a late night outside on their back patio as my first real night out on the town since living here.
The crowd here was a mix of visitors and locals of all ages and very regulars. Â There was a wedding party celebrating outside on the front patio and many couples and friends having a late dinner and drinks inside.
Our waitress did a fantastic job and maybe was a little bit overwhelmed by how busy it was at 11:00pm on a Saturday.
Bars can be different every night depending on the crowd for sure, but Naggy McGee's delivered a fun environment and we enjoyed ourselves.
The Corned Beef Sliders were awesome! I ordered them as a meal and when served, I thought "oh no, I'm going to be hungry", but surprisingly I was stuffed! I'd never really had sauerkraut and I thought I'd pick it off after trying it, but it was sooo good! The kiddos ordered the mac n cheese and wow! Yummy!!
Hubby ordered The Champ, says it was awesome. Most others ordered the Fish n Chips and said they thought it was the best they'd had!
We'll definitely be back!!
Here's what I can tell you about this bar. Â In Grand Junction, nothing is open past 9. Â This bar was. Â I went. Â I drank a Blue Moon. Â I left. Â The experience was nothing. Â Lots of loud d-bag looking dudes in the bar area and the whole place was lit up with what seemed like spotlights. Â It was 1230 and brighter than the sun. Â The waitress was nothing to write home about, atmosphere was the same. Â I had a beer and bounced. Â It served its purpose but nothing more.
Review Source:Terrible service (The waitress hung out by the table next to ours the whole time we were there... only half glancing our way every 30 minutes). Terrible atmosphere (a bunch of dudes trying to rub up on the three chicks that were there... DEAD for a Saturday night). Terrible beer selection (The only reason we went in here)
Boo, Naggy McGoo.
Really like the ambience of this tavern/restaurant. The food I've tried has been excellent too. I had the Shepard's Pie last night and it was great.
Feels and looks like how I would imagine a restaurant in Colorado would look, even though it's got an Irish theme. The interior has an authentic Western feel; sort of rustic, wood floors and paneling, with a big stone fireplace.
The staff is smiling, friendly, and very welcoming too. Â
When you find a place that's worth sharing, I'm always inclined to write a review for it. Of course there have been a few places I should have warned people about too, but this place is definitely on the good places to go list.
Stopped by here on the way to Vail, CO from Arizona because it was one of the few places in the area with reviews. Â Nice, friendly atmosphere. Â I had the stew and it was tasty and flavorful. Â The stew came with garlic bread which complemented the stew nicely. Â The stew is definitely recommended. Â My pal had the burger based off of the few reviews and he was a bit disappointed. Â The burger was moist and decent but did not live up to the hype. Â The burger lacked flavor. Â Overall, it was a nice experience, the wait staff was friendly, but a bit slow despite the amount of patrons. Â If I were to find myself in this part of Colorado again if probably east here again.
Review Source:Some times, the first visit carries with it a charm that has the power to bathe everything in a golden glow. Knowing this, I returned to Naggy McGee's just to see if what I experienced on my initial visit could be duplicated.
Okay, I won't lie; that wasn't the ONLY reason I went back; the beer has a pretty potent charm of its own. But still I wanted a second opinion. This time my senses were a little more acute to the wait-staff's communication, the dining room's overall cleanliness, noise level and musical selection, and of course, the food quality and presentation.
Every element of the dining experience was matched, if not exceeded. On my first review, the solitary negative aspect I found was the volume of music. This time around, the decibel level was much more appropriate to a dining atmosphere, which could be related to the time of day, or even day of the week.
My first four-star rating stands the test!
I'm not sure who enjoyed the food more, the flies or me...but I'm betting the flies, because there were at least 10 of them attacking our whole table, very aggressively, the ENTIRE time. That alone really disgusted me about this place. I ordered the traditional Irish dish of corned beef and cabbage. Let's just say I'm of English and German descent, and I can make better at home in a crock pot. Not sure why the flies wanted it so much...I literally gave up--as all 4 of us did--defending my food, because it wasn't worth defending. Not impressed.
Review Source:Naggy McGee's Irish Pub is a "Plastic Paddy" pub in downtown GJ.
Despite the obligatory "Irish pub" clichés (leprechauns, shamrocks,  Celtic-crosses, ad nauseum)  and the "wrong kind of football" on all of the televisions, the food and alcohol selection is definitely in the spirit of Irish-American pub-fare back East. Everything I've sampled has been well prepared and delicious. They also have a nice selection of import beers on draft as well as in the bottle, which makes for a nice change from the brackish micro-brew stuff down the street.
PROS:
They serve an excellent Sunday morning hangover breakfast  - the portions are enormous. The potatoes are especially tasty, the chicken-fried steak covers most of the platter and the eggs are cooked correctly.
CONS:
Their "signature" Bloody Mary is awful. The image on the drink menu is not what you will be served. It comes with ice and a pickle in it. Bleccch. Their musical selection is extremely limited. The same Gaelic Storm album has been playing the last three times I've patronized them. Come on guys, get some Flogging Molly or Tossers or something just to mix it up.
Naggy McGee's is definitely a pleasant centrally located hang-out bar with good hearty food & impressive import alcohol selection. Check it out.
Finally tried the food. Â It really was pretty good. Â I went about 1.30 pm (my favorite time for lunch, avoiding the rush) and the hostess seemed to "not notice" me at first. Â I sat at the same table in the bar area. Â Either they have done something about the flies or they are just dying off due to the season. Â Either way, no flies! Â The bartender was my server and she was so-so. Â Food took quite a while to come out, but it was very good.
Review Source:Started by Eric and Vanessa of Rockslide fame, Naggy McGee's is the best bar in town. Friendly staff, great food, a couple of vegetarian-friendly personal favorites, and a long list of cold beer and delicious cocktails. If you live in GJ, or you're just passing through, this Irish pub is a must.
Review Source:New Irish Pub/Restaurant in Grand Junction. People were lined up for everything, food, drinks, just to get in the door. Didn't eat, just enjoyed the music and the bar. Menu looks good, will need to try it later. It was easy to become a fan! They will probably be packed on St. Patty's day. Cheers!!
Review Source:Authentic and AMAZING! Â There's a constant line out the front door.. Â I think it's safe to say Grand Junction has been waiting too long for an Irish Pub.
So here goes ... Â The bar is big, lively, and beautiful. Â They spared no expense on the renovation. Â The restaurant is cozy, and has a friendly, inviting charm to it.
Finally, many of the beers on tap can be found nowhere else in town (to my knowledge).. Â And, the Irish Pub-Style menu is AWESOME!!!
Check this place out for sure -- you'll LOVE IT!
