I have never had a bad time here.  Drinks have been drunk, food eaten and bad karaoke sung by me and others and not a bad moment.  Somehow I think it is the eclectic mix of people who come here.  They make the time fly by whether interacting with them or just doing some good old-fashioned people watching.

Lunch fare is surprisingly good, get the chicken salad sandwich or a side of guac and chips (or both).  Prices are reasonable and stools comfortable.  They recently remodeled their restrooms so they are way better than traditional dive bar washrooms.

Best to park around back since the front lot forces you to back onto 111 when you leave.

All you douche bags complaining about not being able to karaoke probably shouldn't be singing in the first place.

So I've been to Neils twice to sing Karaoke and both times I didn't sing Karaoke. Because, the first time, the Karaoke host was holding off on starting Karaoke because of a pro game on TV that everyone was watching and the second time, because he was waiting for "more singers" to sign up. I mean, come on, he's there, I want to sing, and he staggers around the bar area for 45 minutes without calling me up to sing. So, why say Karaoke starts at 8 pm, the host is there, but he won't get it going ? I'm still sitting there at 9 pm waiting, waiting, waiting.........So I leave. C-Ya.

Absolutely love this place! I come to Indio quite often and just found out about Neil's after my friend found the ad in our resort advertisement's directory stating that Neil's has karaoke on Friday nights. As we walked in, Michael Jackson's "Billie Jean" was playing. We found seats at the bar and were immediately served. The karaoke catalog was amazing! There is a variety of songs from all genres. Most people sang R&B, Rap, and Rock songs. We stayed for a few hours and sang a couple of songs. Really fun crowd that gets into the spirit and cheers on the singers. I will most definitely be back during my next visit to Indio.

Dark, gritty, amazing dive bar with a karaoke crowd you can really get down with.  They provide a free shuttle to/from the lounge, and we took advantage of that service.  Showed up around 7pm on a Friday with an entourage of women.  We were treated well, served stiff drinks, and whiled away an awesome evening at Neil's.  The people watching is great - flashy to trashy and everything in between.  The place really started filling up around 9:30 or so, so we were glad to have arrived early enough to grab a table.  The food is surprisingly really decent and very affordable.  Loved it.

Karaoke at Neils is one of the best things about being out here for a month doing the festivals.  The staff are nice and friendly and can SING!  they let us party and act like idiots and have not kicked us out yet.

    yay for neils!

Neil's lounge is a great little dive located in Indio, the vibe is country/dive bar.

The drinks are tall and the folks that frequent here are quite down to earth. Karaoke is a big thing here, and let me tell you they sure do know how to get down!

My husband and I actually had our wedding reception here, the staff was the nicest, and so were the locals.

If you are in the area this is definitely the spot to kick up your feet and have a drink!

So apparently this place is where you have to "earn" respect, even from the fricken bartender. When me and few girlfriends first came in, she seemed friendly but within 5-10 minutes she completely ignored us and we had to keep calling her over anytime we needed anything and she seemed constantly annoyed. We were giving her business and she rolled her eyes like she had something better to do-the place was EMPTY. Besides a handful of regulars one of which I think was an owner. Anyways bottom line is I couldnt get over this chicks bad vibes. If I could I would have brought my beastly father and his harley friends down for a little more respect. But I wouldn't recommend it. Oh and my quesadilla which takes all of 5 minutes to make in an empty restaurant took forever.

So much fun. It's really random with se strange people but they know how to have a good time with a juke box and kareoke. The bartender have me five bucks to choose a long lineup of songs that didn't suck hot ass. If you can control the music you'll be fine.

A great place to go in the east valley for a casual night out and some fun karaoke. This place is way laid back and a popular stop after Coachella Music Fest or Stagecoach. Celebs have been known to stop in an sing, too.  Note that on those weekends in May you'll want to arrive early as the line can get pretty long. Otherwise, you can usually walk right in. The crowd is quite diverse so you'll feel right at home.

Ice cold beer, great service, good/cheap food, clean bathrooms and NO WINDOWS..... what more could a guy with a minor aversion to society ever ask for. If you are into drinks with umbrellas or exotic fruits (limes are ok and an olive here and there fine) then this isn't the place for you. Beer, wine and a simple mix is the name of the game at Neil's. Perhaps intimidating on first visit you should quickly realize that this is a place where locals and tourists alike come together to tell lies, get drunk and sooner or later sing some karaoke. The $5 food menu includes a tri-tip sandwich and a cajun chicken sandwich that are fantasic.

Once the karaoke starts the crowd gets younger and the bar gets louder. There are usually one or two quality Idol wannabees and plenty of 'I sound great in my head' performers for your viewing pleasure.

Careful if you decide to park out front as backing out of the parking spot onto Highway 111 can be a little scary after a couple wobbly-pops.

We went to Neils a couple of times in December 2010; lovely place for a dive bar.  No gang-bangers, but we never went in on Kraoke night or the weekend.

The bathrooms are stunning and clean.  The staff is delightful - Mark the Bartender rocks.  The locals are friendly and inclusive.  In short, it's our favorite bar in the area.  Far better than the Tack Room.

I was actually invited here by my friend that was getting married this past weekend. I've known him a bit so I trust him. He gives me verbal directions and places emphasis on me parking at the Circle K. I do.

We walk towards the front entrance and meet up with a guard that is flossing a black polo with yellow block letters on his back that read: Keeper Of The Peace. WTF?

Just in time a couple bouncers are removing three gangstas from within. Bouncer looks over at us and states that the bar is shutdown by orders of the security manager. Wow, ok we decide to wait. A bunch of Whiskey Tangos a.k.a. White Trash start exiting this spot.

Eventually we gained access. The best way for me to explain this place is simple. Picture a prison holding cell with alcohol, a karaoke area and small dance floors. I was on heightened alert mode the entire time. I had Hispanic gangstas to my left, drunk whiskey tangos to my right, drunk whiskey tango females fondling each other on the dance floor dancing to Cher and Sonny Bono "I Got You." This place was just unevenly unsafe.

The drinks were cheap. But, I would have preferred to have not left my gat in the car.

Neil's did a bang up job of showing us LA folk a great time on a random night in Indio. I come to La Quinta all the time and if you are not a senior, there really is very little to do. So when I heard about Neil's both my fingers and my toes were crossed that the place could be a repeat.

One step inside those doors transported me to a dive bar in some time warp on what could be considered an entirely new planet. Drunk old men in Tommy Bahama sing Willie Nelson (you know who you are ) while tiny Asian women in really big shoes since terrible songs (repeatedly). Yes, you guessed it. What makes Neil's so special is its weird mix of cheap drinks and karaoke. Without the cheap drinks, the karaoke wouldn't be half as entertaining (and frankly they are necessary). I happened to land at Neil's on a night where the lesbian convention was in town. Women were brawling in the bathroom while others made out. Some asked me to dance to songs like Do Wa Ditty and Like a Prayer.

If people were veggies of all shapes and sizes, Neil's would be one heck of a tossed salad. This was the strange combination of people: fat, thin, tattoos, yuppies, young, old, tacky and tackier, pants hanging low, pants that are wayy too tight. Ethnicities Galore.

Get ready for some good times people. And for some bimbo to spill a drink in your lap.

Good bar.. and I'm a snob sometimes, but I love this place.

Friendly staff, decent drink prices! Good food! Great karaoke! and decent parking either in the lot, or in the Midas car park. I'm glad they rebuilt this place after the fire because its a staple of the desert and one of the last honest dive bars!

After a long "girls night out" for a bachelorette party, we stopped by here before we headed back to the resort.  The bride-to-be loves to sing so we thought it would be fun for one last hurrah before we headed home.

The bouncers were hilarious.  Unfortunately, not all of us were drinking but the waitress didn't seem to mind and still brought out waters.

There was some really good karaoke going on and kind of intimidating.  After listening to a couple of them you forget they're just regular people.  I was impressed.

I loved the variety in the crowd.  There were some sports fans here, a few cowboys there,  couple of locals.  This guy even came up and offered to get me a bottle of water cause I just missed the waitress.  He gave it to me, we joked for a second and after I thanked him again for the water he just strolled off.  Seriously, the nicest guy ever!  Didn't act creepy or try to saddle up to the table.  Very cool.

Soooo, the reason I missed the waitress was a trip to the ladies room.  There was a line, so I didn't get to see what was going on in there, but by the time I got inside I realized what was up.  A shower curtain?  It was all that separated you from the girl washing her hands at the sink and the girl standing next to that girl waiting her turn.  Still trying to figure this one out.  Oh well, I survived.

Unfortunately, miss bachelorette didn't get a chance to sing.  They apparently had a last call for the karaoke and we missed it.

All is well, after the weekend we had I wasn't up for being a back up dancer to an all girl rendition of Baby Got Back.

Love a dive bar - love it even more when you mix it with cool people and good karaoke.

As far as honky-tonk bars go, this one pretty much takes the cake in the eastern valley... Even though any style is accepted here I usually feel like I should be wearing cowboy boots whenever I come here.  Karaoke is fun and it definitely keeps the party going... Especially when you can get your buddies drunk and up there dancing and singing to some Lil Jon with the wireless mics... Everytime I've been here it's always been more guys than girls... which is typical of most bars in the Coachella Valley...

I can usually depend on having a pretty decent time here and not spending too much money... It's better than say, The Red Barn, but I prefer the Beerhunter if I don't want to sleeze it up as much... Crowd is a mix between older (40+) white people to barely 21 kids who just want to get faded and act like fools.

Pool tables are good too as well as the selection of liquors... Food is kind of greasy but the burgers are on the large side.  I'd say you pretty much get what you y pay for.  Overall not a bad place to get your drink on and party on without breaking the bank.

So I'm from the bay area and when I came to town for Coachella and was looking for a late night spot - here is were I landed.  Me and two friends took a taxi and upon arrival one of the bouncers comes up the taxi and immediately checks all our ID's - um, weird and intimidating.  Walking in there is  a kareoke stage to the right, a bar to the front and tip bar tables to the left.  We find and spot and sit.  I was wearing a short skit, heels and nicer top - silly me - my friends and I were stared at in an akward way the entire time.  So we watched the stage for a bit, the singers were ok and the equipment looked high tech and all so - good if you are into it and know where you are going.

I ventured off to the restroom at one point.  It's one room, with a curtain that wraps around the tiolet - no lock on the door.  So I just had to do my business quick, hoping no one would come in and just open the curtain to my modesty.  But it was clean at least.

The vibe was just weird and totally non friendly and bordering on aggressive.  Call me an out of towner - I'm ok with that.  But I shouldn't have felt that akward - 30 minutes later we called a cab and were leaving.  But even then a super creepy guy started to make some gross comments to my friend outside while we waited.

If you know what you are in for, know the crowd, hardcore kareoker - great - otherwise I'd pass - especially if you are from out of town.

Note: DIVE BARS.. This is one of them. Drunken cowgirl looking  chicks with stuff and I mean stuff coming out who are slurring lyrics from an ABBA song or perhaps even a Merle Haggard tune are in fact going to keep you laughing. The drinks are in fact cheap and the patrons are just alone entertaining enough. I like this place. If I am in the desert. It makes for a SPLENDID drunken evening! SERIOUSLY.
