Usually come here when I visit family in Norwich. They are regular customers and so am I. Perfect crust not too thick, not too thin.....our usual is a meatball pizza, delicious.
Their garlic knots are usually fantastic, but have been all over the board lately (and my family confirmed) sometimes actual tiny knots of garlicky delicious dough (great) sometimes hamburger bun size dinner rolls mopped in oil and half burnt.....(what the hell?) somebody's gotta do some quality control back in the kitchen. We had a combo of the two on Wed night...a basket of 6 actual garlic knots and about 6 half burnt dinner rolls mopped in garlic oil.
Haven't tried the pasta but my family says its all excellent, and from the looks of it I agree. Antipasto salad is delicious but let's not rely on iceberg lettuce folks....lets get some actual greens in there.
Restaurant is small in size, probably about a dozen booths. Get there early cause they overflow quickly if its a busy night.
Highly recommend...
so i just got back from there and I am writing a review. Â i guess thats how good it was. Â the decor is nice, the pizza and wings is great! Â the staff is quite friendly. Â I went on Valentines Day. Â we had fast service, they treated us quite well, and included two small glasses of champagne on the house. Â that is classy. Â anyway, I have just found my pizza place. Â I'll drive the 20 min from Norwich.
Review Source:Frank has the best pizza perhaps in all of NY. Â The dinners are great too. Â I've had the chicken piccata, eggplant parmagianno, chicken fettucini alfredo, etc. Â The flavor and texture of the pizza is impossible to recreate at home or in any other pizzeria. Â It is also very reasonably priced. Â Enjoy.
Review Source:A longstanding New Berlin establishment that has grown over the years. It started out as a pizza place, but has grown into a respectable Italian restaurant.
The ambiance is nice. Granite table tops, a nice Mediterranean color scheme and lots of old photos on the walls. It's kind of a tight layout, but they did well making the space work for seating. The owners are there 95% of the time, Frank making pizza in the front and Betsy meeting and greeting. They're really what makes this place special. They make you feel welcome every time you go, and remember you when you go back.
The food is good. For dinners I've had the chicken hollandaise, chicken cardinale and chicken marsala. I've had the veal Saltimbocca. Each dish tasted fresh, was well presented and was well seasoned and cooked. The food isn't bland at all - which sometimes happens in CNY Italian restaurants. The food actually tastes very high end - as though they would play well in a major metropolitan area. Which makes it a real gem in this one stop light town.
Now, let me preface the next part of my review with this: I don't like the pizza they make. Not because it isn't good - because I prefer thin crust, light sauce and light cheese. This is the opposite. Thick and doughy, sweet and abundant sauce and lots of cheese. It's always well cooked and they have some pretty far out specialty pies, but, it's not my style. Still, if you like Sicilian style or deep dish, you will like this pizza.
The wings are, on a scale of 1-10, about a 5. They aren't that great and are very inconsistent depending on the night of the week you order. Sometimes overcooked, sometimes not cooked enough. The sauces are good. The BBQ is zesty, but tastes like something from the supermarket, and the mild, medium and hot are really just variations on mild. The wings taste fresh and not frozen, but they're just lacking. They also don't give you blue cheese and celery standard. You have to pay extra. I don't get that - it's a pet peeve of mine and costs this review one star.
Last thing - don't go here for green salads. They only use iceberg lettuce. They don't use leafy greens. They should.
My real review is 3.5 stars, but I'm bumping it to 4 because I think the dinners are worth a visit and if this type of pizza is your bag, you should stop in and get a slice or two.
