Right there in the heart of Tybee Island at 1513 Butler, Nickies1971 (a revival of Nick's original place now re-opened within the last few years) is a great place to go when you're hungry. Â It's got a great variety of food, ranging from pizza and stromboli to burgers. A real winner is the fresh-cut french fries. Â They're cut right there with a fry cutter so you know they're fresh - and they are excellent. Â The pizzas are very cheesy - we had the pepperoni pizza, a sausage, and a "supremo." Â The dough is not that great - looks like a pre-baked refrigerated thing. Â The stromboli was not well-stuffed, but it was tasty. Â Burgers are great. Â We also had (during our stay in Tybee) the jalapeno poppers and fried cheese with marinara. Â Nothing special (similar to what you'd make at home) but not bad, either.
Sit at the counter or in a booth, or on the sidewalk. Â Service is friendly and fast. Â The bar in back is smokey, so be warned.
