I am a fan of their food, music, and selection of beer and liquor. Lately, the service has been on the decline. This has caused my visits to be less frequent, but I wil still get a hankering for the carnivore pizza every now and again. I recommend everything on the menu, but moreso the muffaletta and any of the pizzas. If friends were visiting and wanted a really great, relaxing place to meet up and have drinks and great food, I would most definitely take them here.
Review Source:Seemingly anything I could want in a bar--a dark, comfortable atmosphere and a gigantic American flag, exposed brick and timbers. But never have I had a truly good time there--the bar is quite narrow and actually getting a drink is painful and difficult as crossing the broad majestic Shannon. The food is decent, but I don't go to bars to eat: I go to forget. When bands play they are often good, or good enough--a couple of dads and dentists pretending to be Booker T & The MGs--but their loudnesses are often overpowering. And so you go into the other side of the bar, where there are darts and dictionaries waiting to fall from high shelves, and you wait to eventually leave. There is always always some asshole with the world's smelliest cigar there, and once I saw a man who looked like he used to play drums in the E Street Band.
Review Source:I've been going to the Savage long before I discovered Yelp and have always loved this place...typically I go to enjoy an adult beverage but I have eaten here a time or two...
I noticed that they had this place listed in the simply Bars category which is damn dead wrong!!! Â This place is a Dive Bar that serves a good meal!!
The 2 times I've eaten here I've enjoyed immensely...The chef always rotates a "wild game" option on the menu...maybe venison, rabbit, kangaroo, ostrich...you never know and people say it's good. Â Personally I've never gone that route as I usually have just enjoyed the simple cut of steak cooked to perfection when I've been there.
However, my main reason for frequenting this place is the fact they have Guinness and Smithwick on tap and I do LOVE downing several pints of Blacksmith (1/2 Guinness and 1/2 Smithwicks) and like a good blacksmith should it will hammer you!!!
Another buddy likes going because they serve Boddington's...it's in the can but it has that little barrel in it so it tastes like it was poured from the tap...
I'm usually not there for the live music because this has always been an early stop pre-7 PM for me but the word is they usually have really great music.
The main bar is smoky (cigars are allowed), dark, narrow and long with a great assortment of spirits and beers on tap....Please see a pic I posted about what NOT to ask for from the bar...Be forewarned if you ask for an item on that list you may very well see your ass getting hustled out the door!!! Â They have a 2d room with a coupla pool tables and dart boards...
All in all a great place that I enjoy spending time at when I'm in Shreveport/Bossier City
I like Noble Savage. I've been there several times, and have always had a good time there. The bar has a very old-school bar feel that is somewhat refreshing.
One odd thing: Noble Savage looks like it was originally two storefronts. In the front of the side away from the entrance, there are some odd counters and a tiny runway/stage. I don't know what they are for, but if I've had enough cocktails, I start to fantsize about stripping. Pray that you are not at Noble Savage if that ever actually happens! It's not something you want to see.
It is a little strange that someone at the door checks the ID of every person entering, but I don't find it overly inconvenient.
Some of the food is great, some not so good!
I highly recommend the nachos, which come on a HUGE platter and are absolutely delicious.
The gumbo is also excellent. I've heard tell that it's the best gumbo in Shreveport.
The only hamburger I ate there, despite the fact that I always request medium rare, Â was so overcooked that the Nobele Savage owed the cow an apology.
The crowd at Noble Savage is local and very friendly. I have had some good conversations there. When there's an event going on, the place can get ridiculously loud, though, so it might not be your choice if you want an intimate date.
Like other Yelpers, I have found the service at Noble Savage to be a mixed bag. It's good sometimes, and nonexistent at others.
If you are in Shreveport, Noble Savage is worth a visit.
Really? This is the best Shreveport has to offer?
The location is Downtown in what seems like a Ghost Town. Â I walk in and a hostess almost attacks me asking for ID - just a very rude way of asking. Â There was one waitress at the bar with only three patrons. Â The female bartender was only interested in talking with the regulars (who were ordering Schlitz), while I paid $20 for a Chimay (the only had the large format bottle). Â The waitress was telling them her life story and about her divorce. Â I couldn't get her attention to order. Â Then the waitress wouldn't let me order a $32 entree at the bar, despite the fact that the place was empty, because I "needed reservations." Â Sorry - best to pass on this place, although I didn't find much better in Shreveport.
The most anti-social and objectionable hostess/waitress made our experience sour. Â We were the only table in there and it was obvious she couldn't be bothered to wait on us, and she mocked my husband's accent. Â I asked the bartender, who seemed like a decent guy what was up. Â He just shrugged his shoulders and said, 'Oh, that's just how she is.' Â Her behavior was completely normal and totally OK with them. Â It's not OK with me.
The Good:
The food was fine, we didn't experience any problems with the quality of the kitchen. Â That being said, it wasn't amazing enough to return. Â The ambience is awesome. Â And lots of great bands play here so there's always entertainment. Â The entertainment and downtown location is definitely the draw. Â Plus the pub-crawl bus stops here from Artspace. Â
The Bad:
I'll never return. Â When management hires and keeps staff with bad attitudes and zero customer service, there's no point in returning.
Very nearly, if not, the best pub in town! The atmosphere is laid back, the live music is great 90% of the time, and it's a friendly place. Service is sometimes slow due to lack of servers, but the one or two on duty are usually pretty dedicated and working their butts off and what they're serving is awesome. If they hired a few more people, they'd be a five rating.
Review Source:The atmosphere here is wonderful. It is very old school bar. Â But the food... Â !!!
Started with Philadelphia Pepper Pot soup. Â Wonderful. Â Spicy and flavorful.
Main course was Kangaroo in a blueberry sauce. Â This was simply amazing. Â A super tender red meat similar enough to beef but very unique.
For dessert was Pumpkin Cheesecake. Â Sugar, chocolate, and caramel on top? Â Sure why not. Â Awesome!
I am definitely hooked.
My new home away from home!!! Â We are just relocating to Shreveport from Las Vegas and so after doing some Yelp research my hubby & I went to check this place out. Â It is all that is promised and more! Â Love everything about it! Â Great bartender, the Chef is AMAZING! Â The food is OUTSTANDING! Seriously delicious! We've been back 3 times in the 10 days we've been here. Â We've tried the Gumbo (FANTASTIC!), the Smoked Fish (D'LISH!), then we tried two different specials. Â One was a Pork and craw fish Tai dish that may sound odd but was absolutely phenomenal and the other was Blue Fin with Almond butter that was melt in your mouth GOODNESS! Â We also went on a Friday night and listened to some great music and played some pool. I like the eclectic mix of people you will find here. Â This place is just cool. Â Great low key vibe, excellent bartenders, phenomenal food. Â It's just a great place to be and I see my love and I making this our go to place. Â LOVE LOVE LOVE IT here. Â Coming from LA and Las Vegas I didnt expect to find such a Gem in Shreveport. Â Not sure why but glad I was wrong! Â I guess its all about what you are into. Â If you want to go to a place to "be seen", this isnt the place for you. Â But if want the coolest place in town to just hang out and BE, listen to great tunes, meet cool laid back people of every kind and shoot the breeze, have a few drinks and play some pool, then look no further.
Review Source:They have Schlitz on tap, now! SCHLITZ! WOOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOO!
And you know, I thought this place couldn't get any better. One night I see Jessica Biel in here and now this! Wow! Schlitz! It may not take much to make me happy, but, boy am I happy now!...Schlitz, people, served cold from the tap on a hot summer's night. I ask you, what could be better than this?
i frequented the hell out of this place when i was working in shreveport. Â the food here is pretty good and there are always rotating specials. Â the place is large so bring as many people as you can. Â the beers on tap are a damn good selection and they have the most extensive scotch collection in shreveport. Â just about every night they have live solo performers and sometimes ensemble bands. Â very bluesy kind of place.
Review Source:Fabulous! If you plunked this divey-gourmet-down-homey spot in the middle of some other city it would be jam packed with a line out the door. Here it's just pleasantly crowded on a Saturday night. I love the ambiance: the old school cover band was hilarious, fun, and not at all annoying, the decor is cosy and comfy, and the crowd is a great mix and defies categorization. The food, as others have mentioned, is delicious and surprisingly gourmet.
Review Source:This bar is an easy find having been dropped off at one of the casinos. We came on a Tuesday night and there was still a decent(ish) crowd, so the atmosphere was OK.
I knocked off 1 star because it was expensive, 9 dollars for two draft beers...
The bartender was nice and appropriately chatty. As was the barmaid/server, who seemed genuinely concerned how our day was going.
The crowd at NS is a later 20's early 30's crowd, so if you are looking for a bunch of ditzy 21 year olds to hook up with this is not your place ;)
We weren't disappointed with NS.
The Noble Savage is one of the best bars in town. It has a cozy pub atmosphere in a historic building, good beer selection, and excellent food. Go for the noble nachos and a carnivore pizza or be adventurous and try one of the specials. The live music is also a plus, it ranges from pretty good to freaking awesome!
Review Source:This place is in downtown Shreveport and is a strange combination of bar and gourmet restaurant. If you're hungry, you can stick to bar food staples like sandwiches and burgers for a decent price ($8 or so), or you can go all out and get their meals. I remember that they serve one of each kind of meat (beef, chicken, and pork - or something like that). There's no choice, you get what they're serving. Prices for these range up to $35.
I got a Reuben (cheap) which was tasty with lots of meat.
Got a couple of beers too. Â I was slightly annoyed by the service because when I finished my first beer, I was thinking of getting another one, but maybe a different kind. Â The waiter brings over a second beer without asking. Â I would've hated to see it go to waste, so ended up stuck with the same kind. Â Not sure what would've happened if I didn't want another and wondered if this is a ploy to sell more beer. Â They have a few on tap and more in bottles.
The beer selection is decent, though not the best I've encountered, and the atmosphere is that perfect blend of dive + tavern + hole in the wall. They have live music, pool, darts, not to mention an in-house prophet offering words of wisdom.
It's a bit questionable why they have the barbacks gathering drink glasses and asking customers if they want to order another drink, if the dude isn't going to take your order because you have a tab... I mean, yeah, I get it buddy; everyone wants a tip. I couldn't tell if he wasn't SUPPOSED to get drinks for people whose cards were at the register, or if he just didn't want to bother because he didn't think he'd get a cash reward for presenting me with sudsy refreshment or what. That was a little irritating. Not like I can't walk myself up to the bar but when Poindexter asks, "you want another? whaddya have?" and I tell him, and THEN he asks if I have a tab and balks.... I mean, come on! That's both pointless and annoying.
That being said, If it weren't  for that and for the incredibly rude and off-putting way the middle aged woman who evidently worked there was alerting people it was time to go the last time I was there (throwing chairs around, knocking my purse onto the floor and spilling its contents in the process), I think this place would get 5 stars. I mean, if I go back and some disaster befalls that experience, we may tick down to 3, but for the time being, I'm satisfied enough that we're going to stay firmly at 4. Right guys? RIGHT??

Ho-kay, edit time! Look, I will pre-empt this by saying my knocking a star off my rating doesn't actually have anything to do with the staff. Not exactly. But I am knocking a star off, taking me from "Yay! I'm a fan!" to a square "A-OK", because apparently, this is the kind of place where a bleary eyed dude in his late 20s and still longing for his douchey days in the Army Rangers or any given frat will--no kidding-- walk up to your group, and physically, by the shoulders, push your male friends into a line and then announce he's been coming to the bar for the last 10 years and he doesn't like that he doesn't recognize any of you.
Okay, broseph, first off: these dudes have TOTALLY been in the bar before. Second? WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU? When questioned as to whether it was appropriate to push people he didn't know around, the guy blurted, "Yeah, does that make you wanna punch me in the face?!" and dudes, trust me, he waaaaanted someone to punch him in the face, just so he could throw down. His leery, sleazy buds watched from afar, while I laughed in his face because... dude. Seriously.
Just be aware: the bar itself is fine. Some of its patrons, on the other hand, are an interesting level of douche who are cruising for someone to engage them in a brawl, because they live in some fantasy world where they stake claim to the place they choose to spend money and get faced at on a semi-weekly basis. And politeness won't get you out of it-- we only avoided disaster when one of our own correctly identified his Ranger status and then they chatted about the military. Had there not been a former member of the armed forces to BS with, who knows where the night would've ended.
This place fucking rocks.
I moved away from Shreveport/Bossier City about 13 years ago, shaking the filthy dust of poverty and misery off my Army Surplus combat boots with no intention of every coming back. Â Unfortunately, I still have friends and family back there (here) and now I travel to S'port for business on a quasi-regular basis. Â
Noble Savage makes me want to move back just so I can hang out there and drink $11 pitchers of Bass, smoke unfiltered Camels, and check out the hotties that stroll in by the gaggle.
And to top things off, the food is pretty damn good too.
This is by-far my favorite little hole-in-the-wall bar in Shreveport. Â Its tucked in on the first floor of a tall multistory building on the main strip of downtown Shreveport. They have the best beer selection in town and always have live music playing. Â If live music isn't you're thing then go in the side room and throw some darts of shoot some pool. Â The atmosphere is quite nice and the wait staff is friendly. Â
They also have some great food (try the humus)! Â Hit it up if you're ever in downtown Shreveport!
I haven't been there in years, but this was indeed my favorite place to go when I lived in Shreveport. Â Besides all of the good times that were had here drinking beer, shooting pool, and throwing darts, I saw lots of interesting live music acts here that ran the gamut from folk to blues to country and Celtic. Â This is a small venue that features music nearly every night, and one of the best places to meet the artists playing the music.
Whenever friends visited from out of town, we took 'em to the Noble Savage. Â Whenever we were able to entertain on the company dollar, we took 'em to Noble Savage. Â Whenever we wanted great food (with an ever-changing original menu), a respectable beer selection, and friendly service, we went to Noble Savage. Â I still remember how good their regular pub grub was, including a fabulous muffaletta! Â That just about says it all as this place deserves high praise for being wholly original, unapologetically rustic, and a foot-stompin' good time! Â Hands down, the best destination in downtown Shreveport.
The Noble Savage is one of my favorite spots to hang out in Shreveport. Â Nice old brick walls, friendly bartenders, a tasty & varied stock of booze, good food, and excellent live music.
Lots of really great local blues bands play here, as well as other diverse local musicians. Â Saw a really rowdy, high-energy Dirtfoot show here last fall. The crowd went nuts!
Noble Savage is very alive, and very real. Â I'll keep coming back :)
