I stopped in with a friend who is a big fan. We were mostly here for drinks but also had some wings. I can say if all of the food is as good as the wings, just that the cherry BBQ sauce is awesome. My friend wanted to know where to buy it and we were told that it is made in house.

The pub is under the Perry Hotel and has an old-timey tavern feel. There are several glass mugs hanging. My friend said there is a challenge to try all of the beers and have your own mug. We were here during the middle of the day so it was fairly quiet. The waitress gave us great service, though she may have had more time to chat as as there were only a few tables. I was also a fan of the popcorn she brought to the table along with our drinks.

I am a regular at The Stafford Perry hotel and is the only place I stay when I travel to Petoskey for business. This past week  I arrived lateish 9:30-10 PM on Thursday night.  I usually sit at the bar when eating. We were told kitchen was open only a few more minutes, so we rushed  to choose and the bartender stood at the end of the bar chatting with other employees for about 10 mins before I put my order in. Was not impressed with the bartender's service( and I have been served by him a few times before)  but he was talkative.

We ordered, meatballs which were OK and a margherita pizza which needed an extra minute in the oven. Food overall everytime Ive been there is fair but could probably use some updating.

I like the rustic décor of an old time tavern style restaurant but wish the bar were bigger as the bartop only sits about 8 people.

My overall opinion is that if you want beer-it is great. On the service and food side-malaise has set in. I'd recommend an update and some service training even for the people who have worked there awhile.

Always a fan of the Noggin Room! Even on the nights when the music is just a little too loud for conversation you somehow seem to make it work because you just don't want to leave! If you like coffee drinks, try the Awesome Coffee-best I've ever had.

Pleasantly surprised!    We came out to Petoskey for the weekend and found ourselves in the Noggin Room nightly since we were staying at the Stafford Perry.
Not a fan of the free popcorn only because you find yourself munching on the popcorn even if you're not hungry!

We dropped by here for a quick lunch and really enjoyed the whitefish pizza...was delicious with some artichoke hearts, capers, and red onions.  The mixed berry salad was pretty decent as well.  Not sure I liked the dungeon-ish feel for a lunch but for drinks and a bar atmosphere, pretty rockin.

Oh yeah, on our last night in Petoskey which happened to be a sunday night, we had some beers and turned out the beers were $2!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Decent beer selection, free popcorn, and good customer service. One of the better bars in Petoskey by a long-shot though.

You can't beat a great cellar bar for a bowl of popcorn, a great variety of brewed beers and good conversation.

This has got to be one of the best places in the Petoskey/Harbor Springs area.  The food is great, the service is friendly and the atmosphere is awesome.  They have live entertainment each night -- wish it would start just a little bit earlier for those of us with kids, but in any case, it's always great.  Very 1970's singer-songwriter style musicians- all extremely talented.  The fish and chips are AWESOME here- I think the best in the area and perhaps even more important this is one of the ONLY restaurants in the entire area that offers turkey burgers so for that alone I commend this restaurant.  They have a really great kids menu and wonderful food.  The servers are mostly college students and the vibe is casual.  It has the old, local pub feeling and if you are lucky enough to be there when there is live music, you will definitely enjoy yourself- whether you drink or not.  No view from the pub but the vibe is great and so is the food!

If you are a consumer of buckets of beer; like dingy cellars with Flat Screens set to ESPN; gravitate to cohorts of semi-drunk children in college gear, then you have found a home. Do not expect a conversation over a good meal. That said, the Fish & Chips here were pretty good. It's one saving grace is that it doesn't pretend to be anything other than a joint.

Bad service and horrible food.  Very disappointing experience. The only positive was we were outside in the great weather.

Had a very good meal there - all the benefits of the perry hotel menu, without all the stuffiness.

Three of us had the planked whitefish, one had the ribs.  All were very good.  As a bonus, the "veranda" was open, so we ate outside with a great view of Little Traverse Bay.  Good staff, Good service, good food.

(though, if we didn't eat on the veranda, the atmosphere might not have been as nice)

Good service for a pub. Has some charming elements and is a worthy place to have a pint.  Nice Michigan brews on draft.

A great atmosphere with friendly people and a great local band!  It was my first visit, and I loved the place!  It's the kind of place you can relax and feel at home in a hurry.

Great food for the price:  The Whitefish was great for $20 complete with roasted tomato, garlic mashed potatoes, and green beans.  The micro-brew drafts were also on special for $2.

Nothing special here except for the vibe. Pretty cool little basement hangout in the perry hotel. The reason for the 3 stars is the food quality. It's just pub food at, IMO, a high price.

What an awesome pub. Exactly what we were looking for on a chilly rainy night. Live music in a warm and crowed bar, but it was clearly full up with local people. The energy was real relaxed and the waiter was super kind, although pretty new at serving.
We got the margaritas and found them alright. They call them famous, but frankly if you aren't in a place that can grow limes, they probably aren't that famous. However they were good.
The appetizers weren't much to write home (or yelp) about. Over fried and clearly from a box, but we weren't there for the food, so it didn't really bother us anyway. I imagine they have one thing on the menu that is really good and the rest is just ok. There was nonstop popcorn and that's nice.
My only real complaint was the noise level. The real low ceilings bounced the music around very loudly and it was difficult to hear my partner in crime.
All and in all, if you are in Petoskey, you should stop here for a meal. If nothing else, just to walk around the hotel!

The food was really good. I had the sea food chowder. I like their idea of giving away a mug if you drink your way around the world.
Bonus points for the free popcorn.

I have a friend who happens to live in Petoskey and frequents this place.  I hear about it from him all the time and naturally, had to try it out.  I was craving pizza hard core, and he said that this was the place to get it!  It was Sunday, so we had to wait around until noon when they open up.  He claimed the pizza was amazing so I was willing to wait.

The actual spot is pretty awesome.  It is sort of below ground so it gives off that dungeon bar feel.  They have mugs with the regular patrons name engraved on them hung with Christmas lights.  My description doesn't do it justice, but take my word for it, it's pretty cool!

Unfortunately, the food was lame.  They give you some crummy popcorn first thing.  Pizza is not on their lunch menu, and the waitress went and asked the cooks if they could make me one anyway.  They said I'd have to wait until 2.  I just think it is silly that they couldn't make me something that they have all the ingredients for.  I know I was asking a lot, but c'mon.  I ended up ordering the Santa Fe Chicken wrap with fries.  I was less than impressed-  no flavor whatsoever.  The fries were also pretty blah (not worth the calorie intake).

Our waitress was below average.  I had to ask for water refills, which I always think is a bit ridiculous.

I think the Noggin Room- if viewed purely as a pub, is a cool pub.  They have live music almost every night, which I'd be willing to check out.  The interior is what it has going for it.  I wouldn't recommend it for food- if you're looking for anything with some kick.

The food is good - can't go wrong with the whitefish for sure.

I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 because:
-it gets REALLY noisy in there and I generally like to talk and hear the people I'm with
    -the seating is sorta awkward
-I don't like Sean Ryan singing and he is there all the time
-I've had some bad waitresses there

Wow. What a pub find. In the basement of the Perry Hotel. Bit dark, but nice atmosphere from the xmas tree-lit glass beer mugs (sounds cheesy, but it's not). Great beer on tap, they give you giant basket of popcorn to much, and the burger with sweet potato fries - wonderful. Husband had the whitefish- stack sandwhich and homemade potato chips (yes, you can tell homemade and GOOD). Sandwhich was very good too.

Live entertainment weekends, bummer we were through for lunch. HIghly worth the stop.

This is my favorite place in Petoskey to hang out for nightlife for a number of reasons:

    1) Girafees (enormous cylinders of beer with a tap on it for your table)
    2) Live Music: Sean Ryan and others play a lot of great acoustic and folk inspired tunes appropriate for the N. Michigan setting.  Good performers as well.
    3) Good food: Food is very good because the place is actually a hotel
    4) Scene: This is one of the most frequently lively places in Petoskey, another area where being part of the Perry helps
    5) Location: It's a classic location in the center of Petoskey's historic district in walking distance from just about everything in Petoskey.
    6) Great beer selection...hint: Oberon

I love this place.  It's one of the only reasons I'll drag my ass out to be DD in Petoskey every once in a while.
