The food at Norey's lately has been AMAZING
The turkey potpie was fantastic and came with a full Norey's salad for $17. The mushroom bread pudding $10 was like nothing I've ever had- great texture and density-OUTSTANDING,as a was the pickle-brined fried chicken with a honey glaze. Please note that the entrees come with a choice of sides which is not clear from the menu. The menu changes daily.
The rules of this restaurant are very simple-no hats, no logo clothing, no takeout.Think of it as dinner at Chef Tyler's house, and you will have no problems.
The best asset of this restaurant is it's staff- bartenders- Lucas, & Doug & sometimes Charles. The wait staff is AMAZING- Jasper, Bubbles, and J.T. especially, plan on eating in his restaurant some day.
They all take the time to provide you with an experience, the right beverage, the right food, the right atmosphere. This is what a restaurant does.
Norey's is a breath of fresh air on the Newport culinary scene. Â It has a relaxed, romantic vibe inside and has live music many nights. Â When we arrived, there was a Jack Johnson-esque singer/guitarist performing. Â The chef, who I was told is also the owner, was behind the bar and told us to sit wherever we wanted. Â I thought this a little odd, but my companion said that such things were common here, and the owner could run hot and cold, which lead me to feel unsure about our decision to come here. Â But boy, am I glad we did!
They have an extensive craft beer list, and after making our selections, we decided to split two specials - the lobster macaroni and cheese and the schezuan noodles. Â The schezuan noodles had a great heat, as well as a tangy and sweet flavor that was addicting. Â The lobster macaroni and cheese had a mellower flavor, but was creamy and rich. Â Both dishes were fantastic.
Our waitress was attentive and friendly. Â I would say that all in all, Norey's hits all the high notes, and I am looking forward to coming back!
