I got sesame chicken and chicken w/ broccoli. It was possibly the best Chinese food I have had in many, many years. The sesame chicken was crispy on the outside but still very moist in the middle. Often, other places will dry it out.

The rice is fluffy and tasty. Not greasy like many places will do.

Wish I lived nearby so I could come back to this place again.

I unabashedly love Peking Garden. They are a hole-in-the-wall chinese take out place. They do have about 3 or 4 tables in front of the counter that separates the kitchen from the dining/takeout area. The people that run this business have been running it for quite a while I believe and I think they are a family.
The business is clean not beautiful. It is very business like, run efficiently and polite. They have never screwed up any of my orders, and always have the food ready when they say it's going to be which is usually "10 minutes". The food is American Chinese Food and it is prepared immediately.
I'm cheap; I love a real bargain. The food here is a REAL bargain. I usually get the steamed peking dumplings, which come 8 to a tin and are under $5. they include the typical dipping sauce which is really good, sweet and savory not too salty. The Hot and Sour soup has tofu, shitake, celery and bean sprouts (if I remember correctly,) and is awesome for a cold or sinus problems $3.25 a qt. The General Tso's is crispy in a dark sweet/sour sauce and includes the red pepper pods and broccoli $8.50. The Crab Rangoon are generous sized and ok 10 for $4.60.
These prices are much better than anything else I've seen in South County or Aquidneck. Even if I found something cheaper and closer I probably wouldn't go there because the food that they serve at Peking Garden looks and tastes hand made. Compare the dumplings to almost any other place you've been too. I have. They are shaped in the traditional way with a thicker dough than the wonton/egg roll pastry types I've seen at other places. Added to that the filling is mostly pork and very generous. The Rangoons are huge. Their sauces are robust and not bland like typical Chinese take out places. There vegetables are crisp fresh in their soups and entrees. I have never had their fried rice.
Yes it's the only Chinese place on the island. If they had a dining room my Mother and I would go there probably 2 times a week. As far as I'm concerned it's a hidden gem like The J-Hop across the street. Like the other reviewers I will add that Jamestown has some beautiful sights to take your chinese food too like Fort Whetherill Park (with picnic tables,) Beavertail Park or any beach (like the one across from the Newport Toll Booths,) you can find. I go across the bridge to get my dumpling fix whenever I like and have no problem. The only problem anyone might have is that when you call make sure you listen carefully. Whoever picks up the phone most likely will have an Asian accent.
