The CFS sandwich was huge, tender, delicious, and reasonably priced.
I could only eat half of it.  I will definitely stop here again.

We went to this restaurant this past weekend based on the reviews here in yelp.  Our first impression was their very tattered flags outside.  We find it rather disrespectful to fly tattered flags.  The waitress was good and made the food sound really tasty.  My mom ordered the fried catfish, on the waitress's description of a big thick very lightly breaded piece of fish, not what you normally get at other restaurants.  My dad ordered a hamburger based on her recommendation, with mayonnaise and no tomato or mustard with hand cut french fries.  I ordered the chicken strips with their house seasoning mixed into the batter (also by her recommendation) with the macaroni and cheese that someone had said in their review was wonderful spirals.  After waiting a seemingly long time we received our food.  Mom's catfish was thin breaded strips.  Her squash medly was thin cut overcooked zucchini and yellow squash.  My plate had mashed potatoes instead of macaroni and cheese.  I decided to try them and they were cold, so I asked her for the macaroni which was tasteless and dry with very little "sauce".  The chicken tenders were overcooked, dry, and severely underseasoned, especially since I had asked them to add their house "monterrey style" seasoning to the batter.  Also, they did not remove the tendons from the tenderloins, which I personally have an aversion for.  They are so easy to remove, I never understand when restaurants skip it.  My dad's hamburger was overcooked and dry, on a limp, squashed bun, with mustard and no mayonnaise.  His fries were greasy and undercooked.  None of us ate very much and we stopped at Chili's a couple of hours later.
But our server was very kind and good at talking up the food!  Very quick to fix the mistakes the kitchen had made with the food.

Good roadside stop on US 75, complete with a faux oil derrick in the front.  It appears to be a typical diner on the outside, but the interior is modern with a stained concrete floor and open layout, with view of the kitchen through an arched window.  The African game trophies on the wall seem a bit out of sync with the North Rig theme, but they are interesting to look at while you wait. We ordered the Sunday special, all you can eat catfish, which was light, crispy and perfectly done.  I got mine with a bit of blackened seasoning, which was great.  The black-eyed peas were nicely seasoned as well, and the mac and cheese (rotini pasta!) was a satisfying side.  There is a bar so you can order a pint to go with your meal.  Overall, a good home-style meal.

Good food at a fair price. It's a bar and grill and thats what you'll get. I would stop in again to check it out on a weekend night.

Loved this place.  First of all there are two sides - I went two days in a row and both times I sat on the "bar" side.  There is a good size bar area over here and there are quite a few tables to sit at as well. One very large round table - we had 10 people at the table and we were comfortable.  They also have the usual 2 and 4 top tables and those were put together one night for a very large group.  Lots of TVs too. If you walk out the door to the parking lot on the bar side - there is a very large patio with a bar, tables and a big screen TV. The other side of the place is a full sized dining area.
We had an assortment of typical bar food; wings, fries, burgers, fried jalapenos, and some burgers.  Everything was very good, much better than average bar food. A couple of the people at my table were regulars and they said the place has some of the best burritos you will find anywhere.
I enjoyed the place. A lot of regulars and the staff was very friendly and attentive.  The owner came by the table to check on everything - always a nice touch.
Will def make this a place to stop when in town.

This is my dad's favorite spot.   They have weekday specials for 6 bucks.  I highly recommend the chicken fried steak and mashed potatoes.  You cant beat that for six bucks.   On Saturdays they usually have the Rig Burger and fries for 5 bucks.    I have never been able to go on a Wednesday but my dad raves about their Wednesday Enchilada Special.    They have great tea and really nice servers.

Also quite possibly the most comfortable chairs you will find in a restaurant.

I make the occasional trip to Denison with my bf who needs to work in the area from time to time. We always used to stop and eat in Sherman until he went to the North Rig Grill with other work guys.

They all had steaks, good service and he suggested we go try it out. I like to check places out online before hand and unfortunately I wasn't finding very good reviews. But I know how that can go sometimes so I was determined to go in with an optimistic mind.

    Bottom line...great meal.

Bf ordered the filet with a loaded baked potato. I hesitated between the filet (my preferred cut of meat) and the flat iron. I decided to go with the flat iron and I was not disappointed. Thicker than any other flat iron I've ever had, it was cooked perfectly to my specifications (med rare) and I ate the entire thing. 10oz of wonderfully juicy and tender meat. I don't think it was a true flat iron cut, rather, a choice center cut sirloin. But either way....it was delicious, affordable ($13) and I was pleased. I ordered fried okra and black eyed peas as my sides which were also great. We saw onion rings go to another table and decided to share a side of those too. They were incredible. Next time I'll order the black eyed peas again and onion rings.

Bf was also happy with his filet and loaded baked potato.

I felt the establishment deserved a good and recent review.

*Added note - went back a second time and again, had the flat iron cut with okra and black eyed peas. Delicious again. Cooked well and service was attentive without being annoying! We are 2 for 2 at the North Rig Grill!
