Our party of 4 adults arrived at Northeast Seafood at 6 pm on Sunday evening.  No reservations taken.  We were told by the very young hostess that there would be a 20 to 25 minute wait despite several open booths and 4 open tables that seat up to 6 people.  When asked to be seated at one of these open tables, she told us that she wasn't allowed to offer these table for parties of fewer than 6 people.  Two of us had to drive 3 hours home after dinner, following a long holiday weekend.  It is absurd and insulting to make an adult party of 4 wait at a non-bar while the restaurant held at least 6 tables or booths for larger parties.  Not a friendly nor a very smart attitude.  We are unlikely to return despite the fact that as we spend 6 months or more in our home in Bethany Beach.

The food is always good at any of  the Sodel restaurants.  My problem at the Northeast was how fast they pushed us through our meal, yes it was July 2 but there were open tables and my husband and I told our server repeatedly that we wanted to take our time. I have spent more time eating a meal in a fast food joint. One more BIG problem Northeast, if you are going to sell wine in half bottles get your menus reprinted!

We have been going to the Northeast Seafood Restaurant for the past three years and never have been disappointed.  Everything appears to be very fresh and flavorful.  I especially enjoyed the spinach salad and the Brussels Sprouts.   The service was good and we only had to wait thirty minutes on a very busy Friday Night (July 4th weekend).

I do not usually take time to add comments or reviews. My family have been going to Northeast for years, Spring, Summer, Fall and Winter. A couple of years ago I stopped going there because of a strange policy with seating.
This past Fall and Spring we returned and as always the food is good. On the last Sunday of June we (4 of us) went at 5:50 pm for dinner. My parents, wife and I arrived with tables open and we were told by the hostess that they only had tables for 5 + and there was a 20 minute wait for four people. The same reason we stopped going there before.
We will not return again. You don't take reservations and have no reason to turn busy away. But you have for good. Shame, but your policies are not going to bring us back.

I need a 3.5 star button! This place is sleek, delicious with great service. I had the ipswich clam platter with fries and coleslaw. The lobster sandwich with bacon was also amazing. A particularly nice app was the smoked trout dip. This doesn't sound like much but it was very refreshing and delicious served with homemade chips.

    We did not try dessert.

My only complaint would be that it's quite pricey. A kids meal without a drink---that would be a bowl of pasta for $6? It was a bit much.

What a wonderful hidden gem! We were in town for a wedding the weekend of 5/4/13, staying in Ocean City. We decided to take a day trip to the Rehoboth outlets and basically shopped 'til we dropped.....and to the point of starvation! Upon leaving the outlets we decided to consult yelp for a tasty bite to eat. Being frequent shore-visitors, we were aware that many of the restaurants were/are closed during the off-season, so we wanted to make sure we found a DECENT restaurant (and not just one that had it's doors open.)

We decided on Northeast Seafood Kitchen based on the yelp reviews...which were 100% accurate! At first glance, the exterior is nothing to write home about. It is located in a hidden strip-mall, easily missed if you aren't paying serious attention. The restaurant store front doesn't even look like it would be a restaurant. But don't let that fool you! After entering the restaurant, we were pleasantly greeted by the young-yet-professional (the professional part can be hard to find at the shore) hostess and the simple-yet-tasteful nautical-ish decor. This place is so clean!

We were seated and offered drinks immediately along with our menus. Let me just tell you about this menu (the actual food on it, not so much the simplicity of what the actual menu looked like.) They have so many tasty seafood options to choose from! (In a good way, not a cheesecake factory-overwhelming kinda way.) We decided on:
-Deviled Eggs (which had fried clams on them)
         -Local steamed clams
-Seared Cod with clams, spinach and sweet corn
         -Seared Scallops with Choriza

YUMMMMMMMM! My husband and I love seafood and having lived in Baltimore for a large portion of our lives, believe that we have a pretty good idea of what good seafood is. The fried clams weren't just your junky/filler clam strips, they were whole, lightly battered, and fully seasoned actual clams! The steamed clams were steamed to perfection (not chewy at all) with a delicious garlicky/white winey sauce (perfect for soaking up with their homemade-out-of-this world bread.) Our entrees were just as fantastic. My cod was perfectly seared (like you would see on an episode of Chopped coming from those famous chefs) and seasoned like you wouldn't believe. Cod is one of my favorite types of fish, and I'm not joking when I say that this was probably the best preparation I've ever had! They didn't skimp on the clams that they served with my cod (also perfectly seasoned) and the broth was so flavorful. My husband's Scallop dish was equally as fantastic, he actually also said it was one of the best prepared Scallop dishes he's ever had (it all sounds too good to be true, but it really was that good!)

One of the highlights of our experience (in additional to their delectable perfection) was the wait staff. Our server was quick to refill our bread and waters. We were also personally greeted by what may have been the manager. He came over to our table, after saying that he had not seen us come in before-introduced himself, asked us if we enjoyed our meal, chatted with us about future plans for their patio, and invited us back the next time we were in town. We've lived in the city for many years and are not used to such hospitality.......wow what a breath of fresh air!

I can continue to go on an on about this place, but I'm sure I've made my point. It might be out of the way for OC vacationers...but well worth the trip. If you are visiting the shore, make the trip here. It'll totally be worth it!

I want to give this place a higher review. I do. But the food wasn't anything amazing overall.

We were seated at the bar and offered drinks while we waited. I was able to speak with the chef as he was prepping food - I loved the open air flow of the space. We had decided on what to order before we were even sat. Calamari- one of the best orders I've ever had. Buttermilk marinated, the squid was tender and delicious. Just the right amount of breading and not overly fried. Downside - it came with tartar. I was now wowed. Next up was the bibb salad. Perfectly done. I was excited for my entree. I had the salmon with a side of roasted brussels sprouts. My veggies were perfect - lightly browned, adorned in cranberries and shallots - YUM. The salmon, however, was utterly disappointing. We ordered it at the chef's recommendation and it came out so grossly overdone. Pale, dry pink all throughout. We alerted our server who went to take care of it and we were told that they had just sold out of salmon. Ok, no big deal. The restaurant featured some other dishes that looked appetizing and I chose the spaghetti and clams. Amazingly, this was not the best either. 6 clams in the whole $18 dish. No prepared traditionally but rather slimy noodles and oily, flavorless marinara sauce.  To the manager, Colby's credit, he checked on us regularly and really tried to turn our night around. He brought out free bread pudding which was sadly dry. I would try this place again as I likes the vibe, the locally sourced theme and the service from the manager. Our starters rocked, but it's sad that our meal ended poorly.

I ate at this place during my Summer vacation and it was amazing. The place was packed yet everything came out perfect and delicious. I am down here again on a business trip and decided to go back and have some great food. Well, this place is 2 for 2 with even better results this time if that's possible at all!  I had the onion rings the first time and didn't see them on the menu. When I asked the waitress about them she said " no problem" let me see if the chef will make you some. Not only did the chef make the onion rings but he even came out to see if the spicy ketchup was ok or if it needed to be hotter or milder. WOW talk about awesome service. Of course the main dish ( fish and chips ) was amazing as well. I just sat there staring at it after I already ate 2 large pieces and tried to will myself to eat more. But I was stuffed and didn't even have a chance to eat more than a handful of fries the fish was that good. Basically everything here is extremely fresh and delicious. Even the bread you get when you just sit down. It has such a distinct fresh baked taste to it that I can't say I have had at any other place. If you are ever in the area, do yourself  a huge favor and check this place out. You will not be disappointed. Instead you will probably be on here writing them another great review. Thanks for another great meal Northeast Seafood Kitchen!

Don't judge this place by its location - even though it is behind a Sleepy's, it is actually quite nice inside.  The food was very well prepared - very fresh and cooked and seasoned just right.

We had to wait a bit for our dinner to be served, but considering it was a Friday night in the summer that is understandable. All the staff were definitely hustling.

The only downside was that there was a $2 charge for my wife to substitue spinach for french fries. Not only is this annoying, but it hurts America.

Overall, this is somewhere we we'd like to go back to, especially if we also need to go mattress shopping.

Everyone was very skeptical when we showed up and it was in a shopping mall. But, when you walked inside the decor was chic and stylish. The clam dip appetizer was excellent and so were our entrees. The deserts however did not finish the meal the way we wanted them to because the were just average. Overall, the restaurant was very good and we would definitely go again.

Mussel appetizer was excellent.  Lobster BLT was not so good.  The lobster was very overdone and therefore quite dry.  The homemade potato chips were delicious and addictive.  The oatmeal pie tasted more like a coconut pie.  It was good, especially the homemade whip cream, but forgettable and not something I would order again.  Overall, the meal was inconsistent.  Since this was our first visit, I would probably be willing to give it another try.

Well this is definitely an above average restaurant. I admire the folks who own the place as they have developed a kind of chain of *better* looking and eating restaurants in the area all with their own milieu, their own ambiance. And the service at NESK is good as is the food-- BUT I have to say it really was not as great the night we were there. The stuffed lobster was good with a very ordinary crab stuffing. I would gladly have paid more money for lump crab rather than the strand-like "imperial" crab. The Caesar salad was dry and bland really and just not what Caesars should be. (to be honest I think I've had one really good Caesar in the past 30 yrs of paying attention.). With all the positive chatter about this restaurant would've lead me to believe that they would've easily pulled off at least a yummy Caesar. My 23 yr old daughter had the steamed clams which were overdone and chewy. The only real bright spot was the Calamari Fritti which was tender and sweet. But even here they serve this thoughtfully and briefly fried sweet seafood with the globby, mayonnaise-y "herb sauce" (which was only tartar sauce really). A mistake in my view.
Look the restaurant business is a tough racket and even a good one has an off night. I'm sure we'll return again. It was mediocre honestly.

This place is really good! Best we've had in Bethany so far! Great lobster mac and cheese..although my son didn't care for the kids Mac and cheese I think it was too much of a sharp cheddar taste for him. The others in our party loved their fried clams and the buttermilk fried chicken and fish and chips. The drinks were fun too! We had mojitos and pomegranate drinks. I'd definitely recommend stopping by here if you are in town for a beach trip. The rest of the menu looked really good.

This is by far our new favorite restaurant in the Bethany Beach area. We had ordered takeout last year and enjoyed it, but decided to give it a go for dinner on this year's trip.

Our server was friendly and sweet, and offered great recommendations. The food was such a pleasant treat considering this is a "resort town" type area and the restaurant itself is tucked away behind a Sleepy's in a strip mall.

Beet salad was perfect - yes, I said that about beets - and the rockfish entree was flavorful and perfectly cooked. I could eat barrels of their mashed potatoes . . . yum! Filet mignon entree was exceptional - considering the menu is predominantly seafood, the kitchen did an amazing job on the meats!

Will definitely return . . . may even return on this trip since the meal was so pleasant. Yum yum yum! It's also extremely affordable and great for groups and kids - don't miss this one :)

Pleasantly surprised with this restaurant.  Have been driving by it on Route 26 for years and decided to try it since it was so highly rated on Yelp.  It was very good!
We had the clams, seafood stew, crab cakes and fruit cobber for dessert.  The clams were very good.  My only disappointment was it was served on top of a paper hot dog plate - not very appetizing or visually appealing.  My wife loved her seafood stew.  She said it was the best she's had anywhere!  As for my crab cakes, I thought it was too creamy and oily - again served on top of a small paper plate - which was soaked with grease.  I only ate 1 and took the second one home and then warmed it up the next day.....and it was still very greasy!!

The dessert is what made our dinner!!!  The fruit cobbler was AWESOME!!!  It is worth the trip there just to have the dessert!!!

The reason for the 4 stars is... I would give my experience a 3 stars and my wife gave it a 5 star, so it averages it out to a 4 stars.

We will definitely be back there again.

Every summer I go here once or twice with my family. This was the first time this summer and it was the best meal I've ever had at a Matt Haley restaurant. The restaurant itself is very comfortable, clean, and cool(AC), and we were seated right away. To start, we got the salmon dip instead of our usual clam dip. My dad and I loved it and finished it off in record time, but we both agreed that the clam dip was much better (try it!). We also got some steamed clams which were great as well and the bread that they serve everyone is always different from the norm : it's a sweeter bread and is very light. After polishing off the appetizers, we received our entrees. My brother and I ordered the special for the night, which consisted of 8oz of pulled pork, two scallops, baked beans, and cole slaw. One word : incredible. For only $22, you get a ton of fall-apart pulled pork, some scallops, and nice helpings of cole slaw and some bbq beans ; it was amazing. My dad ordered another special, the paprika seared tuna. He enjoyed it very much and my mom enjoyed her salmon as well. During the dinner, they gladly gave us more bread & butter, and then we got the dessert. I got the oatmeal pie, which was insanely good. It had a cinnamon whipped cream and the pie consisted of some oatmeal and a bit of coconut. It was great. My mom and the rest of the family shared a chocolate mousse with some dark chocolate, cream, and berries. It was equally tasty. Overall, the meal was a hit...again. I hope to get back to this great restaurant one last time during the summer since it is always incredible. Highly recommended.

Really good. Nice, fresh and organic choices without everything on the menu being fried. Good wine list. Lots of options. If you can stand the heat they have lots of outdoor seating. A little more expensive than the average Bethany Beach restaurant, but definitely more up scale than most. 4 stars because it was a little pricey for the portions, but otherwise a very good place.

I wish I could give 4 1/2 stars, but since I don't really have any complaints - I'll give the full 5. My boyfriend and I came to Ocean City for an off-season weekend getaway and I found this place highly rated on Yelp and I'm glad we took the advice. The place is located in a strip mall, but the inside is casual yet cozy. Servers were attentful, but not pushy, and gave seemingly honest recommendations. We started with the crab claws appetizer - which were succulent and delicious! (These come cold though - so be prepared for that). I absolutely loved my entree of seafood stew - chock full of scallops, fish, shrimp, mussels and clams in a flavorful white wine tomato broth. And I have to say, bread at this place is to die for (if you get the stew they serve the bread grilled which is even better)! My bf ordered the stuffed lobster imperial which was also very tasty and comes served with white cheddar mashed potatoes and green beans. We were going to pass on dessert, but the seasonal bread pudding flavor was pumpkin and those are my two favorite things in the world - so we couldn't pass it up (it comes served with maple walnut ice cream which wasn't shabby either). The place was full of locals that you could tell come here regularly. Overall, the perfect getaway retreat for a date-night seafood dinner without breaking the bank.

We have been coming to Bethany for 5 years and this place has always been a must on our list. It is part of the same chain as Catch 54 and BlueCoast...but this location is preferred bc we are right in Bethany. My hubby always goes for the lobster BLT...very generous. They are kid friendly anbd always have great service

Good seafood, decent ambiance despite the fact it is in a strip mall.   Outdoor seating was too fly and mosquito infested so we moved inside.   Dishes were fresh, nicely prepared, and service was excellent.

My family and I had an absolutely wonderful experience at Northeast Seafood Kitchen.  The New England style milieu was perfect, and the staff was friendly and provided excellent service. As for the food, one could not wish for a more perfect dinner. Every member of my family thoroughly enjoyed his or her meal, for each dish was prepared flawlessly. We left the restaurant with a very positive experience, holding no complaints or criticisms. We would return in a heartbeat.

I enjoyed my experience here. I especially liked watching the head chef?/expediter call out the orders to the chefs right out in the open for all to see. It was obvious the kitchen was in tight control, so that was a good sign. It smelled great in there.

We tried the "famous" fried clams, which I was surprised to see the WHOLE clam, "sack of guts" attached and all, not just the tips, like I was expecting. I wasn't crazy about those, I actually wished we would have gone with the calamari. However, despite our preferences, they were cooked perfectly and the sauce was great.

I had a hard time deciding what I wanted for my entree, but since my husband had the lobster macaroni, I decided to go with the haddock dish in a corn broth with roasted tomatoes, clams and mussels. It was presented beautifully, but not what I was imagining. The skin was still on, and the fish looked incredibly fresh, but for some reason I was imagining a pan seared filet with a bit of caramel. What I got was a fresh filet seared, alright, but with minimal seasoning on top of the real star of the plate, the shellfish and tomatoes in broth. All in all, my dish was fresh and delicious, even though not what I imagined, and I felt like I had a very filling, healthy fresh dish. Surprise!

The lobster mac & cheese was quite good, with a nice sharp cheddar bite and the celery mixed in gave it a great complimentary flavor to make it stand out. They weren't stingy with the lobster either, large pieces scattered generously throughout.

The kids' chicken fingers and fries were really good too. The chicken was tender quality breast with a perfectly light and crispy breaded texture, not  greasy or with a thick batter like some places. The fries were just like McDonald's fries in shape and size, only not as salty and hopefully not made with preservatives...on that count I was skeptical, but everyone else liked them.

The kids' mac & cheese looked just like a box of Kraft, which always irritates me at fancy places, but the sauce tasted like it was prepared in house, so I shrugged and my husband declared, "It's what kids love." I concur, but for $5.00 I could buy 5 more dinner servings at home. LOL

This place is located near Bethany Beach, which we found to be seemingly snooty in a pink polo shirt & bermuda shorts-wearing, upper crust republican family vacation sort of way to even bother going to, so we headed south to Ocean City. We figured we'd fit in and have more fun there. Truth be told, the traffic was just too awful to stick around Bethany area, since it was not only 4th of July but the single lane roads were just not adequate for the traffic around there.

BOTTOM LINE: It was cool to try this place, but I would never brave that traffic or go out of my way to come back to this place again, but they put out a great effort and the place is really bigger and nicer than it looks in the pictures. Give it a try and try the salmon dish! It looked really good.

Amazing. Superb. Excellent flavors. Creative and unique. A must go !!!! Great service too!!!! Laid back, causal atmosphere. The service was unbelievably fast.

I had the BBQ infused tuna and it was seared to perfection. They paired it with an apple/onion/fennel salad which was original and believe it or not, the BBQ sauce with this dish WORKED. My husband had the seafood stew. Soupa de mar kinda thing. Light. Not too much garlic, right amount of seafood pieces, not overdone. The sauce was incredible. I wish I knew how to make it!

Dessert: choc. cake (WINNING!) and blueberry thing. I loved that it had the little blueberries in it - because they are smaller, tarter and better than the large ones you usually get in the store.

    Don't miss this place.
    It's my new favorite.

Ate on Memorial Day evening and there was still a good sized crowd with the holiday winding down. In a shopping center on Rt 26, plus is free and ample parking. Interior is decorated nice enough so you don't feel you are in a shopping center.

It was as hot inside as outside though... ceiling fans moved around air but it was still too warm inside.  We ordered a bottle of Pinot Noir and it was served at room temperature... we made mention and were told "yeah, it got hot in here pretty fast"... so we asked for a white wine cooler to chill it a bit.  Water refills also had no ice.

Mussels starter was real good, in a tomato sauce with chorizo sausage.  Came with one slice of toasted bread, we asked for more and it was a deliciously sweet bread baked on site.  Not sure if we would have gotten any though had we not asked for it.

Entrees were the pan roasted scallops and a seafood dish with cod, clams and mussells in a corn/butter broth....  The scallops were superb but the other dish was tasteless.

We skipped dessert.  Service was efficient with forced conversation.

All in all, would have been 4 stars if the wine was at temperature and the second entree was tastier.

Food was delicious, staff was incredibly friendly, and the service was very fast. I'm from out of town and my girlfriend and I had a craving for some great seafood away from the hordes of Memorial day crowds. This place was perfect! She got the lobster melt sandwich and i got the fried cod sandwich.  It was so good that we were both silent for most of dinner because we were too busy enjoying the deliciousness. Their cheese fries also are delectable...Im allergic to shrimp and shellfish, but there was still a good selection of foods I could eat here.

One thing to note, don't sit outside for dinner unless you want to get eaten alive by mosquitos. You should be feasting, not those bloodsucking freeloaders.  Anyway, I definitely recommend you eat here.

For Bethany Beach, this is literally as good as it gets when it comes to seafood.  Rather than driving to Fenwick Island and going to Nantucket's, we decided to try NESK.  What a surprise!

The roasted mussels and salads were excellent as starters.  Our daughter had the meatloaf (she hates seafood) and loved it -- 50% beef / 25% pork / 25% veal.  My wife and I split the lobster mac and cheese.  Pretty good and unique; not your usual mac and cheese.  And then desserts... wow!  The table was divided over the oatmeal pie and the bread pudding -- they were both superb!

We cannot wait we've waited so long to try.  Bravo!

On a warm summer evening last year, a big group of us dined here on the patio.  Although I don't remember what everyone ordered, all of us thought the food was really good.  My husband and I shared a delicious appetizer of roasted mussels with wheat ale, aged chorizo and tomato compote and had the lobster rolls as our entree.  It's more upscale than most of the seafood restaurants in the area and their menu is more eclectic.  We hope we'll have an opportunity to eat here again on our next visit to Bethany.

Northeast Seafood Kitchen is a little slice of heaven among the typical overpriced, tacky, and straight up nasty restaurants in the Bethany Beach area.  Tucked away in an unsuspecting corner of a strip mall of Rt 26 (where the Blockbuster is), NESK is an adorable little restaurant with a white and yellow bistro-style interior and back porch-like outdoor seating.

The food was delish.  Everything was extremely fresh, made with (mostly) local ingredients.  For starters, we split an arugula and watermelon salad, flecked with a perfect amount of goat cheese and a lemony vinagarette.  It was wonderful.  For the entrees, we had a lobster, so tender we could crack it open with our hands, and some pan-seared mahi mahi with a simple corn and tomato salsa.  The desert was an excellent raspberry crisp.  They also have a small, but solid wine list.

The service was also excellent - efficient, unintrusive, and unhurried.  Overall, it was a lovely, relaxing evening.  It may not be the best restaurant I've ever been to - and I might give it just 4 stars if it were in DC - but it stands heads and shoulders above all the other restaurants I've been to (at the same prices) in Bethany Beach area and for that I will gladly award 5 stars.  Thank you NESK, for feeding the foodies of Bethany!
