They're now under new / old management. They brought someone in to remodel and bring the business back to life, which was more than accomplished. Unfortunately, the lack of passion and what made this place a pit before is really starting to seep back into the cracks.
Their lunches have gone up in price over the past 18 months and include less. Sandwiches which used to include fries and coleslaw for $7, will now cost you $10. Add a drink in there and you're looking at a $14 lunch.
Their beer selection went from constantly changing to static and unimpressive. They don't have an IPA in the bottle or on draft, and they charge $3.50 for a pint of Bud Light. Hello, micro brews are mandatory today.
Specials are supposed to impress and bring customers back. They used to, but now attempt to remind you to not return.
This bar is located to what most would consider a middle class area, while charging lunch prices you'd find in Birmingham.
After finding everything closed on a random Sunday afternoon, my friend and I went to the Oakwood. Â I hadn't been in there since it was a craphhole about 10yrs ago. Â I'm glad we stopped in. Â Bartender was friendly, and chatted with us. Â $5 burger & fries special was great! Â I added mushrooms & swiss and pickles. Â It was cooked right, bun was good and fresh. Â
I have no complaints aside from, buy a cupboard for the bathroom. Â It's a nice bathroom, but having big storage bins under the sink labeled toilet paper etc... is just junky looking.
It had been a while since I had been here.  It'll be longer before I go back.  If you like mediocre food and poor service at a premium price this place is for you!  The decor has definitely improved but  that's it.  Word of warning, if you're in a group and the gratuity is being added automatically the server won't seem to feel they have to do much for a tip...  I'm pretty easy going but this was a poor experience!  I've never been to a place that was "out" of something included in your meal and just delivered the order, no explanation, no offer of a substitute and when I asked about it was told "well that was free with your order anyway so since we are out you didn't really pay for it..."  Finally did offer a side and made sure I knew how generous they were being.
