Ody's omelettes....4 stars.  Drinks?  Well, good, but they seem to be out of everything.  Either going under or didn't expect a 49ers Sunday.  Nice dive.  Needs better vodka options.  I'd definitely visit again with hopes of a stocked bar.  My gimlets were tasty though.

im new to this area and was happy to run into this fun local spot with a younger party scene, strong drinks and a fun vibe. The owner is a character and will most likely buy you a drink if you chat with him. Cute lady bartenders one was partying pretty hard and another, I shit you not looked like a Pocahontas goddess. Overall really fun place, buddies and I will definitely be back .,

This place was great for lunch! Some friends and I were driving through and didn't want to spend a lot on lunch so we popped in here. We were the only people there at lunchtime so we had extremely attentive service....our waters were never empty, and the heat and TVs were just adjusted just for us.

    Great value!

Great place, great beers, delicious bar food at a reasonable price   ...and Philipino food.

Tried to go here for breakfast/lunch. The place was dark and there wasn't any music playing. There were a bunch of noisy kids. They serve water in red plastic cups like a weird frat house. I'd love to comment on the food but I felt so awkward I went somewhere else.

Get out of the Bougie and hideout at Ody's Tavern. Especially if you're filipino. This is a laid back chill spot, nothing pretentious, just down to earth good people with a good selection of drink, and a good food. I can't tell you how excited i was to actually find filipino breakfast in Carmel. If you're tired of snobby tourists and overpriced everything, meet at Ody's, get your moneys worth, and be a normal human being again.

    INUMAN NA TAYO!

This place is a hidden gem...not easy to find, but definitely worth the search. My family and dog (yes, they are very dog-friendly here) were traveling down the coast and decided to place a lunch order to go. The food was delicious, and, considering we were in Carmel Village, was quite a bargain! PLUS, Ody, Ruth, and Bob were warm and friendly.  It felt a little like family.  We are looking forward to our next visit.

THIS IS NOT A DIVE BAR! This is a place that plays loud, bad music filled with obnoxious kids.

A local hangout with serious football fans rooting for teams all across America.  Dog-friendly and nice servers.  The food was okay, but it's definitely bar food.  Come for the company, the beer and the sports on TV.

Unplanned trip to Carmel for the weekend was very pleasant.  The best part was stumbling across Ody's Tavern on Sunday morning for a bloody mary.  I cannot say enough good things about this place.  The food, the people (Ody, Ruth, etc.), and making us judges for their Ramos gin fizz contest was so much fun.  I HIGHLY recommend Ody's Tavern.  I will always return when in Carmel

I've been here probably well over twenty times and I still can't figure out if I like it or not. Sometimes I have a great time, and others, I turn around and walk right back out. I guess the only reason I'm writing this is to say that if you didn't enjoy yourself at Ody's, don't write it off, you're next visit might be completely different.

Looks like Ody's has transformed from a dive bar to the happening place to be. The decor is fresh, hip and fun. It's a great place to have a drink (locals hangout) and even better place to grab a bite to eat.

The FOOD is OUTSTANDING - Living in San Francisco I have my pick of amazing restaurants, so it takes a lot to impress me. I was blown away with the freshness  and the price. The cuisine is American and Asian and extra yummy. If your visiting Carmel, Ca and need a fun place to eat that won't break the bank, I would highly recommend visiting. GO, GO, GO...

Great local hangout.  About the only thing in Carmel open past 11pm.  Oh ya that's right they have a stripper poll and karaoke.  See ody and maybe he will make you his famous kamakzi shot.

Every town needs a good dive bar. Ody's is Carmel's. If you love the character of dive bars, this is a place you'll love. If you want a snobby fancy bar, there are plenty of other choices in Carmel, but this is a place to meet locals, relax, and get a stiff drink.

Ody's is the only bar in Carmel. Everything else is some sort of abomination.

Ody's is hands down the most fun bar in Carmel, a great place to drink

When I was living in Carmel Ody's was my bar. When I go home to visit Ody's is still my bar. Ody is awesome and super nice. The drinks are always strong and the music is always good.

If you don't like local dives, do not go to this bar.

Not everyone will enjoy Ody's Tavern to its potential.  Most locals know what this place is about... it's like Cheers where everyone knows your name and if you are lucky your pencil portrait may be found adorned on the wall.   I never really watched nor liked the show Cheers so that was not the loveliest example but I guess you would get my gist if you were born around the same time that I was if not earlier.

Out of towners: don't go here unless you know how to relax (enjoy yourself at a bar by yourself or with a friend or two in a new atmosphere), have a drink or three and possibly be ready to get down and rowdy late night. The "dance pole" is one of their new highlights creating a lovely discussion of topic among the locals, "who fought over it last night?", "who ate shit?" and "what is the actual weight limit?'...

Ody's is one of those bars that the people who don't know how to have fun will walk in and possibly walk out or just peer in from the window... for those who are well traveled, cultured or truly know how to have a good time may have the time of their life.  I've lived a very fulfilling life so far and I can tell you some of my most wildest and memorable nights started out somewhere strange, dark and new.

I love Ody, his new pole, friends, family and his tavern.

After leaving Mundaka restaurant (next door) in a drunken stupor, my GF and I walked to Brophy's Tavern in search of further intoxication.

After seeing that Brophy's was filled to the nines, brighter than fucking hell, and rather douchey, we walked right back out knowing this wasn't the scene we wanted, craving something less touristy, old-fashioned, dark, and well -- dingy.

    ...Ody's is your place...

Ody's Tavern is your typical dive bar, period. Apparently, they serve food here, but I could never for the life of me imagine eating here, especially when there's such amazing food in Carmel. Perhaps, if you're in a situation where everything else is closed, sure.

This rating of a 3 is neither bad, nor great of course, but fittingly 'does the job,' because I think Ody's is more about the company you keep, and less about the uniqueness (if there is any) of the business.

Again, it's all about the company you keep here which makes it memorable, such as Ody the owner, and another random, old, gray haired bartender that basically fits the bill. Perhaps he's the 'old fisherman' looking dude that's mentioned in another review. Also, we just happened to be surrounded by other unique 'characters' in the bar which we're realizing is NOT hard to find in Carmel (Mundaka next door was FILLED with characters from all walks of life at the bar, but more on this later in an official review of course!).

What's great is that Ody's is open late, and seemingly doesn't worry too much about the business at hand, but rather just having a good time. The lax and easygoing approach Ody has is clearly visible, and of course very charming -- perhaps not great for business -- but, you get the idea.

If you're looking for a no-frills dive bar open late with strong drinks, and odd characters with plenty of charm -- than Ody's is your place.

We ended up here at around 11PM on a Tuesday because it was one of the only things open in town.  We were just looking for simple food and both ordered sandwiches, which were decent and cheap.

The bar had music blasting, which I guess you would expect.  There was a group of young girls (and one guy) at the corner table having a great time, complete with yelling and lots of photo-taking.  They appeared to be friends with the bartender, who kept stopping over to hang out with them.  This made it difficult to get her attention, but fortunately we were able to just leave cash on the table and make our exit.

There was also a guy at the bar who looked like a grizzled old fisherman, barely tolerating the noise and other patrons, which was pretty awesome.

This review is based on the food here.  Note that I came here to eat only because previous reviews on Yelp praised the food.  First of all, the menu is very limited.  We came early on Saturday evening and they were out of Pork Adobo.  They had been out since lunch, but no one thought to go out and get more or go out and get something different to replace it with to have as a special.  So we ended up getting the Sand Dabs, chicken enchiladas and a burger for my kid.  The enchiladas were okay as was the burger.  The waitress brought out my Sand Dabs and announced they were out of the vegetables they were supposed to come with.  She said someone was going out to buy more at the store.  Meanwhile I had a scoop of rice and a very measly portion of Sand Dabs to eat.  They tasted just okay.  I shared some food from the others or I would have left very hungry.  The waitress should have offered to substitute something for the vegetables that they actually had on hand like a salad or some french fries, but she never did.  She came back like 15 minutes later to ask if I wanted the cook to prepare my vegetables then for me, but that was way too late.  I would not recommend this place for the food unless you are sticking with a burger and fries.  We will not be back.

My fav bar in the area. This is a true locals hang out spot.  I had my birth day party there last year and everyone had a blast.

We went there for dinner. Its hard to find places that will tolerate a 19 month old screamer. The waitress/bartender was extremely patient with our grand-daughter who discovered she has quite an arm on her. She threw everything. Not wanting to be a bum, I immediately picked everything up.
Their food was delicious! My husband had the chicken enchiladas and I had the sand dabs. They were the best sand dabs I have ever had in the 8 years we have been coming down here to Monterey/Carmel.
They even made some chicken tenders especially for the little monster even though they were off menu.
    I would definitely go back.

A group of us came to Ody's around 10pm on a Thursday night hoping to get a late dinner and something to drink. None of the empty tables were cleared so we shoved the glasses aside and waited for someone to take our order. Sadly service was not to be had. We waited and waited, but nobody came by to ask us about food or drinks. we eventually got up and left without any service after 20 minutes to spend our money elsewhere. There are very few times I've received such poor service.

Ody's Tavern is my favorite nighttime spot in downtown Carmel...hands down. The staff is extremely friendly, the food is great and the regulars are a welcome attribute (if you don't love them, at least you'll love watching them).

You'll find a good time pretty much any day of the week.

My girlfriend found this hidden gem through other friends in the area. I get the feeling it's a local bar (which is rare in Carmel, since most spots cater to the tourists). Oddy's is technically a dive bar (not much more than a couple TVs and a few tables), but it does have some added perks like a Wii (with big screen), kareokee machine and darts. The prices are fair and popcorn is free. There's not much of a selection where tap beer is concerned, but that's okay too. Oddy's had some classic Bob Marley playing on the speakers and the locals were jamming, which made for prime people watching. On the night we visited, it was a 6-1 guy to girl ratio, so I wouldn't exactly call it a pick up joint.

If you want a cold beer and prime people watching, this is a great little place to hang out.

One other thing, there aren't many sports bars in Carmel, so if you're looking for a spot to catch a game or a UFC fight, this is probably your place.

Last thing...make sure and meet Oddy, the owner. He is a character!

Well I have been to Ody's exactly twice and have had the same lame experience each time.  Both times I ordered hot wings.  The first time they were overcooked.  The second time they were room temperature when they were set in front of me.  Lame.  If you can't make hotwings, take em off the menu.

Girls' afternoon/night in Carmel.  We were looking for something to drink.  Then we decided to eat.  I got a burger.  It was good, but I prefer my burger a little less cooked.  The three women I was with decided to split a sandwich (yes, I get a WHOLE burger and they split a sandwich) and they ordered onion rings with that.  The onions rings got burnt, so as the bartender set the plate down he said they were burned but he was going to bring more out.  That was really nice.  How often have you received burned food with no comment? My friends got the burnt ones and fresh ones.  So I consider that very nice of the staff.  We didn't stay long as this was the first place we went to when we hit town and we wanted to walk around.  It is a little Sports bar.

This was probably one of my favorite stops during our Monterey weekend. I guess this used to be called Ocean Bar & Grill, but it's now Ody's. Fiance found this place after searching all over Yahoo and Google for a place to watch the UFC pay-per-view fight. Food is just a step up from basic bar burgers and dogs, there's also pasta and ribs. I had the ribs and they were soooo good, fall off the bone tender and flavorful. The staff is really friendly and attentive. Fiance and I spent almost 4 hours waiting/watching the fight, eating and drinking. Prices are good, I think we spent about $60 and believe me we drank the entire 4 hours. We left after the fight but it looks like it still stays pretty packed and busy. Don't let the decor throw you off, it definitely has that Reagle Beagle (think 3's Company) decor going, but it's a way cool place to grab some beers and hang out.

Sidenote: to the old folks that came in for some merlot and salad... DO NOT ASK IF THE TV CAN BE TURNED DOWN 'JUST A TOUCH', your in a friggen bar damn't!!!  If it's too loud move to a table AWAY from the large flat screens that are being watched by like 10 other patrons!!!!
