Ohana Karaoke Cafe & Grill-Go Hyang Jip

This place had the worst service I've ever experienced in my time on Maui.

Starting off on the exterior of the restaurant, The place was located on the same street as Maui Oriental Market (a place I wrote a review on). After buy some groceries, they recommended this restaurant because I was looking for a place to eat some Korean food. Anyways the place looks nice with a big sign and there was lots of parking spots.

So the food was very delicious. We ordered the Kimchi Soup and the Bulgogi and it was ok. The Kimchi Soup had a lot of oil in it, but the Bulgogi was very delicious. They had a lot of side dishes and I loved the different varieties.

Now for the service. The waitress did not even come to the table to refill out waters, and when we asked for some water, she snapped at us for rushing her. Also, we were charged for tip when I only came with a friend. There was no reason to charge us for tip on the bill and honestly we weren't planning on tipping after the horrible service. The waitress seemed to give us an attitude because I was a tourist, and she talked about us in Korean.

If you want to just eat food come here because they have good food. However, I'm just warning about the service because it was not pleasant.

Based on one visit, but this place was a pleasant surprise. I didn't think it was actually open because it never seems busy. Very nice and clean inside and the service was very good. Had the chicken katsu and Kim bap (Korean style maki-sushi). Very tasty and good sized portions. Also had the kalbi/bbq chicken combo. Also very tasty. The complimentary veggies were also good. Been a while since I had pipinola shoots! Loved it! I'm sure after my next visit, this place will be 5 stars!

This place is very sneaky. First, it automatically charged us 18% tip despite that we only had 3 people. Second, when I asked for hot water, the woman gave me two cups of tea instead and saying it would take time for them to boil the water. OK, I was fine with that, then I was surprised that they charged us $2 per cup on the bill. Eventually I was able to argue it off, but just left the bad taste in my mouth. The food was just okie, which was fine, since we don't really expect great Korean food in Hawaii. However, I hate the dishonesty than anything else. That's why I gave one star review here. And thank Yelp now even a tourist who only visited once can also chime in with their opinions, so the owner won't just take advantage on the tourists.
