Waikapu Village Luau

This luau is located at the Maui Tropical Plantation.  We missed our chance to check out what we heard were the top two luau's (Old Lahiana and Feast at Lele) so we checked out this one as the alternative.  It was a little out of the way from our hotel in Ka'anapali (about 30 minutes?) but it ended up being worth it.  

It's set on a big beautiful plantation and includes a quick train ride around where you can see how pineapples, avocados, macadamia nuts and all sorts of other tropical treats grow.

They have some fun local games to entertain you before the festivities start and they do a good job and liquoring you up with mai tai's as soon as you walk through the gate.  Seeing the pig was a bit disturbing but a part of the routine I'm sure.  Dinner was good.  If you have the choice to pay $9 extra for front row seating, I would probably do it.  We didn't pay but ended up front and I'm sure glad we did.  It wouldn't be as fun if you were way in the back... We ended up getting pulled up on stage to do a little hula which was moderately embarrassing, but given all the mai tai's (did I mention it's all you can drink?) it wasn't nearly as bad as expected.

While I'd definitely get early reservations to the Old Lahainia Luau next time I go to Maui, I would recommend checking out this one if you can't get into OLL.
