MIXED REVIEW HERE: Being from Texas and now living in Georgia, I had my concerns about their claim to have the best BBQ in Maui...but it was very close to the condo and their online menu had other options, just in case. Â The hostess was a little overwhelmed and told the folks in front of us it would be quite a wait as they had a party of 30 coming in (yes, she said that). Â She told my wife and I it would be 10 minutes, but we could wait at the bar, so we did--mistake!! Â The bartender could have cared less we were buying drinks, there was no hello, good to see you. Â Just a stare and "are you drinking tonight?". Â Major attitude. Â Just said we would have to cash out before we were seated. Â Several tables cleared and we were still waiting. I found the hostess and she said "I forgot you guys were back there..." Â hmmm??
Waitress was also not too interested, didn't talk about the Wed night rib special, did not ask about drinks  or appetizers...just hovered while we looked at the menu.  So we ordered quickly.  I ordered the "BBQ Sampler" from the Appetizer section ($18) and a house salad.  The Mrs. ordered the pulled pork sandwich. Â
NOW, I will say this place knows how to smoke their meat!! Â Plus, it was served dry and not smothered in sauce...YEAH! Â My "appetizer" portion was HUGE. Â There was enough pulled pork for 4 sandwiches, plus there were 2 ribs, a great, spicy sausage link, 4 thick slices of grilledSpam (yes SPAM!!) but it was great! There were two sauces on the table, one Memphis/Sweet and the other Hot/Spicy--both very good. Â The cornbread was nice and sweet and they even brought extra...another waitress took over for some reason, thank goodness. Â We did have to ask for refills several times, but for $41 dollars we had plenty of food, tons of leftovers and a great view. Â Food--4 Stars, Service--2 Stars. Â Kudos on the smokey goodness and large portions. Â I mean gigantic portions!! Â ENJOY!
Stop here. Eat here. Want BBQ that's close to real? This is the place. No, not Memphis, not Carolina, not even California (if they even believe in BBQ). But for a change, and good meaty tender portions of BBQ meat, this is the place. We went here and to the food court out by lowes and sports authority. Food was good, prices were (gulp) tolerable. Sauces are okay. Sweet, spicy, and heat. Heat is just that, pure heat. For me, the spicy still had flavor and some warmth. Pay attention to specials. They were doing a big prime rib plate with sides for $15.95. That's gettin close to mainland prices. At the main store they have views, drinks, and music. Worth the stop and you might come back. I actually will return to this little piece of heaven.
