One of the worst clubs I've ever been to.
No ambiance.
No drinks on the dance floor.
No drinks in the bathroom.
15.50 for a cocktail and bottle of water.
No house music between sets.
If they want the tourists business they will have to understand many of us come to Maui with flip flops and shorts.
I'd never go back
Wow,
How many places can I think of that were so bad I felt like I had to search the internet for a place to warn others about it? Â Exactly one. Â Liquid's Nightclub in Kihei. Â My mom taught me to try and look for the positive things in life, even in bad situations. Â The best thing I can say about Liquid's is that there was a bar in the same strip mall that people could go to during set break to buy drinks and get water. Â I have never, and I mean never, seen a venue empty out during a set break. Â Until I went to Liquid's. Â Â Â I'm sorry, but when I'm charged $7.50 for a beer, I'm not looking for Budweiser. Â Hawaii has some outstanding local beers, which I enjoyed everywhere else on Maui. Â Unfortunately, Liquid's had only Bud and Bud Light. Â While they did serve Patron tequila, it tasted watered to me, and the chiller machine was broken. Â Most clubs might improvise and say, uh, put a bottle in the refrigerator, but that would mean less room for the Bud Light.
The lighting rig was almost non-existent. Â I'm a big fan of energy savings, but stage lights need to "light" the stage. Â The LED lights, while perhaps a neat technology and energy efficient, aren't ready for prime time. Â
I would comment on the decor. Â If there was some. Â I've been on military ships with more personality.
The staff, as noted by others, was militant. Â I understand the need to enforce club rules--that's fine, but there's a right way to do it, and a wrong way. Â Getting up on stage right as the band is ready to play, taking a microphone and then laying down the rules, is NOT the way to do it. Â Â I'm an adult, as evidenced by my ID shown at the door, and I do not need to be treated like a child by nightclub staff. Â
My wife wisely chose to stay home the night I went. Â But for the fact that my current favorite band was playing there, I think she made the right choice. Â Liquid's is on my "do not call" list. Â If the Beatles reunited there for one night and I got free tickets, I'd scalp them.
