Also known as Stacy's.
Meat. You KNOW you want it. So giddy on up over to Gallatin Gateway! Hunker down, choose your chow and enjoy a slab of steak.
Never fear, there's a kid's menu too. The tots at our table enjoyed grilled cheese and fried macaroni and cheese along with fries. OK--health food it ain't.
The adults had prime rib and porterhouse steak. The prime rib comes with unadulterated horseradish, (as kids we believed this was what caused my grandpa's baldness--this stuff'll singe the hair right off your scalp!) and a baked potato "loaded". And just to be sure the pipes keep a flowin', Â salad comes first. I heartily endorse the bleu cheese dressing.
If you're diet conscious, go for the grilled steak (oh yes, I did) or chicken salad. They have halibut on the menu too, but if I'm having fish in Montana I hold out for the trout. Anything else would have endured a little too much travel time and/or the deep freeze.
If ya mosey on over to the bar next door, you'll see plenty of locals knockin' back a few and the band may be there if it's later on Saturday night than our visit. This hangout is apparently a magnet for two-steppers--I hear tell. But we didn't stay long enough to see the talent portion of the evening.
My favorite part is the photo on the wall/ menu cover (see included pic.). I'd really like to know more about this amazing diving bison. What was its name? How did they train it? How long did they keep the poor thing jumping for a living? Did he eventually end up on the menu? And why is it the Stacy's emblem? Clearly this requires a repeat visit. I'll let you know what I find out.
