Patrick, it is not a pun and, there is nothing funny about murder.

See http://en.wikipedia.org/… where they state, "Going postal, in American English slang, means becoming extremely and uncontrollably angry, often to the point of violence, and usually in a workplace environment.

The expression derives from a series of incidents from 1983 onward in which United States Postal Service (USPS) workers shot and killed managers, fellow workers, and members of the police or general public in acts of mass murder. Between 1986 and 1997, more than forty people were gunned down by spree killers in at least twenty incidents of workplace rage."

So, Patrick, what sense does it make? Did you really think it through?

Pretty run of the mill breakfast spot. We shared a postmaster special.

The pancakes were overcooked and kind of tough. The eggs were cooked over easy as ordered, which was a pleasant surprise. Bacon was okay but seemed like it may have been pre cooked (you know, kind of tough and takes 45 chews per bite like jerky).

We also got a side order of chicken fried steak that was edible but not the most delicious I have ever tasted.

I read good things about the benedict but sadly didn't get a chance to try it. I'd go back for a taste next time I'm in town.

Im glad to have asked the front desk of a place for breakfast near the hotel. This place is cute!! Everyone with smiles as you walk in. Nice decor with photos of the lake, and older photos. Menu is big with lots of choices,as usual i wanted to order it all....and i wish i did!! I had a veggie omelette that was so yum! The potatoes that came with it were super nicely cooked and tasty! The pancakes so fluffy!! Oh,i just wish i was there now. Definitely gonna drive there again for breakfast!! And theres sitting outside too!!

The place runs a little slow, but its Tahoe time! I'll admit I was a bit frustrated though. Then the food came...I had not read the menu thoroughly enough and my dish wasn't quite as I expected. I was scared to complain because of their busyness. I did though and everything turned around! They remade my meal in a matter of minutes. And it turned out to be one of the best breakfasts I have ever had! Just thinking about it makes my mouth water. The owners and staff are so friendly. You can bring your dog. I'd say the wait is definitely worth it.

Best homemade corned beef hash ever and fabulous scrambles and smoothies! This is our favorite breakfast spot in North Tahoe. They can be busy and you may have to wait awhile because they don't take reservations, but the food is great!

Came here for a late breakfast and ordered the French Toast Special (with two eggs & bacon). It's fairly standard fare, not much different from your average breakfast joint. The food was great, my eggs were done exactly as I requested, and the French toast was fluffy and big! Nice to see the coffee isn't an afterthought here, either. The servers are great, very attentive and let me sit here on my phone long after my last sip of coffee!

I really love the down-home breakfast here, but on our last visit (7/6/13) received terrible service when my friend's order was messed up. They didn't offer us an apology or a meal comp or anything. Just told us "if you eat it, you pay for it. If you don't eat it, you don't pay for it". While I admit 4th of July Weekend is always crazy in Lake Tahoe, we were patient waiting 45+min for a table and an additional 45min for our food and did not deserve the rude treatment we were given. I'm not sure our family and friends will frequent this establishment anymore.

I wish I could give less than 1 star. This was my first time at this place, due to mainly looking at yelp and also I am not from this area. My waitress was great. Her name was Kelsey, but she was way over worked. The owners had her wear many hats waitress and the front desk cashier to ring up every single customer in the restaurant which is ridiculous. One owner, the husband, just sat on his butt watching the whole time taking names but not facilitating people to come in when there are open seats. In the bar area- its first come first serve, main reason we got to cut the wait times so short. The second owner, assuming the wife, was very rude to customers and would talk to all her other staff about how much she hates people, certain people in a rush and was very discriminatory. One couple was upset due to the fact that they never received their right order and on top of that this owner yelled at them while they were being polite. To add insult to injury, the owner over charged this couple and yelled at them. I do not feel this is polite. Also the husband owner, let two older gentlemen he knows take up 5 seats at the bar. Its one thing to be busy, its another to make excuses for the wait staff being rude. Secondly very rude to yell at customers who had valid complaints and were not being rude at all. The owner ended up telling the couple- to F*** off and yelp them...
After the couple left- this female owner/manager walked around telling other customers lies about what actually happened and never apologized for her behavior or the behavior of the staff making mistakes.

Mistakes happen period- own it, don't yell at people/customers about it.

I will never come back to this place and I hope no one does who has not been here already.

The food was mediocre and not even exciting. My own order was actually incorrect.

By the way, im not sure if these people know what sanitation is. This one blonde girl, (a worker) sneezed or coughed in her hands, then proceeded to grab brown sugar and raisins with her hands WITHOUT washing them, placed them in small containers and placed them in plastic wrap. After she was all done, she actually made eye contact with me and pretended i didn't see what I saw.

Not your standard oily diner. We all got the veggie omelet, sans cheese, and it was great. not drenched in oil, fresh veggies and side of fruit. Pancakes were light and fluffy. Service was super quick. Prices is great for quality of food and quantity. Very quaint inside. Food exceeded expectations. Highly recommend!

I wish i had a cool line to say like, "mail one in biatches, or post one for this place, or stamp this in my restaurant books" to go along with the name, but I dont. I was just lookin for a place with mimosas, so came here. Real good breakfast food, and mimosas worked great. Got the chicken fried steak and eggs special and that was damn good...have had better but that's just being technical. Nice place good food.

Good breakfast place, but seems to get quite crowded. My waitress got my order wrong, but what she brought (Hangover Helper) ended up being quite tasty. My girlfriend wasn't too pleased with her pancakes though, saying that they were too chewy. I'd happily go back, but I wouldn't bother if there was a long wait for a table.

BEST breakfast ever!!!! Their biscuits and gravy are to die for! I ordered the chicken fried steak and OMG! Gravy... You were the best I've ever had! Hubby raved about his biscuits and we believe they make it there! We're going to make it a tradition to stop by here when we're in Tahoe =) Very friendly waitresses!

Inviting cafe we thoroughly enjoyed. Really appreciated having water pitchers on every table. Decor is clever - post office- related. Service was efficient and caring.
Coffee was good, regrettably something often missing at breakfast cafes. Our breakfast was hearty. Potatoes were excellent - buttery. The biscuit was fair. We were really pleased to find a good morning stop during our Tahoe vacations.

What a great breakfast. I had the crab cake benedict which was a special along with a fruit smoothie. Service was exceptional, friendly and the waiters supported each other. We were challenged in deciding what to order. Look forward to going back soon!! Love the house across the street with bears on the roof.

Wish I could give this place more stars, but I just can't. The food was really good, came out hot and was great quality. Also it's pretty cheap. But the service leaves much to be desired. We arrived with a wait but it was moving quickly. We had two adults and a toddler so we knew it wouldn't be long. 45 minutes later, parties or two and five that came way after we did were being called in front of us because they "needed a table for three" (most all the tables with two people had space for four). I was pretty mad as I'm pregnant and by that time was wrestling a very hungry two year old in a small space watching others get seated before us.

When we were seated, it was still slow. People who sat down after us had their food come out first. Just a bad and long experience.

Also they didn't give us a high chair when we were taken to our table and we had to ask for one and it was broken.

Good traditional Breakfast. The Waitress was fantastic with not only her service but her bright attitude. The manager could learn a thing or two from this young woman.
My Rating (1-10, with 10 being Excellent):
Food; 8.5
Coffee; 6
Service; 9
Ambience: 8
Prices are fair for this area.
I would certainly go back on my next trip around the lake!

It is not easy to find a good breakfast in North East Lake Tahoe. In my opinion this is the second best breakfast place in the area.

There are no reservations. The place is busy. So there can be a wait.

The ambiance is good.

The food is hearty but just lacks the finer touch for the price. The pancakes were pretty good. The home fires were average.

I gotta say that this little breakfast spot was delicious. Ample servings and plenty of flavor.

I was impressed at how fast all the food came out. Granted we were there pretty early on a Saturday. We were trying to hit the slopes and I am pretty sure they knew it. Prompt service and a very nice atmosphere. Coffee refilled plenty of times, which is a must have at any breakfast spot.

The Eggs Benedict that I had were awesome. The hollandaise sauce was pretty close to perfect, savory with a hint of lemon flavor. My friend got the chicken fried steak and it was super good. Another person in my group got the crab bennie, and I thought it wasn't as good as the regular bennie. I'll bet the crab cakes were frozen (I could be wrong).

The fruit was pretty good, but we all found that the melon was pretty bland. Perhaps its just the wrong time of year, but fruit selection should always be seasonal.

Very tasty food, good service. This is probably your best bet in North Tahoe area for breakfast. Get your pre-ski grub on folks!

This place be bomb! And I mean that colloquially.
We had a cute 6-seater table with a serene view of Tahoe outside. Pretty. The server was super nice and quick and accommodating.
We had a guilt free choice of egg whites substitute but then with country gravy on the side. Exactamundo of how I like my noonish breakfast meal with a fluffy pick-your-items omelette (mine was spinach, mushroom and bacon) and refilling hot coffee. After an early morning flight from LA and drive from the airport, it was the perfect recharge before our day sesh at Diamond Peak. Very homey indeed as if your auntie with best cooking skills would make it and memorable as it was a good fix to our hungry tummies. Thanks Yelp reviews, you did good on this one.

Tight space. I don't mean that colloquially, like, "Yo man that shit is tight!", I mean it literally - every time I stood up I almost knocked someone over, or vice versa. Fun 10am activity, eat and then almost face plant in front of an entire restaurant.

They have a dish called "Hangover Helper," which really makes me wish I went home the night before (in the passengers seat) a bit more wasted. We were doing karaoke anyway, I should have been on the verge of blacking out. What sane marshmallow pasty white girl sings Fugee songs sober?

The Hangover Helper comes with two eggs, biscuits and gravy with a sausage patty like a sandwich, and potatoes. The Postmaster Special comes with just about everything; choice of bread, pancakes, eggs, potatoes, meat, something else I'm probably forgetting. What's important is that you need to come here hungry because the portions are huge, they're constantly refilling your coffee, and everything was delicious. The potatoes were crispy, the eggs were well done, the bacon was good (could have been crisper, but that's a personal request one should always make and not assume). I personally wish I would have just gone with the pancake special because their batter is made fresh every morning and you could definitely taste it. Probably my favorite part of the meal.

Everyone was really nice, wearing Go Postal! shirts, and you get to take a red vine at the end of your meal from the counter, where you pay. I would definitely come here again for breakfast if I felt like spending the rest of my day in a coma-like state on the couch watching stupid movies and taking a nap.

My favorite breakfast in North Lake, and it's between Kings Beach / Incline Village and Squaw/Alpine. I sit at the bar and order a scramble or a plate that comes with taters. Potatoes are great here. Coffee keeps coming - it better, since it's two bucks. Service is friendly and down-home. Keep your phone's ringer off - they warn you on the menu! Good food, good people, open kitchen so you feel a little safer.

We stayed at Condo #63 at Carnelian Woods for the first time. The condo was just fantastic! Beautifully decorated with comfortable furniture, awesomely designed kitchen with marble top, warm leather couches and a super cool loft for kids delight and enjoyment.

Thanks to the vacation rental company - http://www.firstaccommod… we took their advise to venture out for a great breakfast just a few minutes walk from our luxurious Condo #63.

Home made food was great. Homey , unpretentious attentive service. Full range of all American breakfast with some new lighter and healthier variations were very much appreciated.
We loved the Carnelian Wood / Carnelian Bay. The entire North Lake Tahoe area was much more mellow and more family oriented. We already are looking forward for our next trip.

Check the place we stayed in and just take a leisurely stroll to Old Post Office for tasty breakfast.

We took a ride around Lake Tahoe, saving our breakfast stop for the Northern shore. The Old Post Office Cafe lined up in our sites, with respectable reviews, so we decided this would be our stop.

First off, this place reeks of charm. It is woodsy and quaint and welcoming. Inside is a large counter area, and further back you will find plenty of table seating. Looking out their picture windows has to be awe inspiring, especially when the winter snow hits.

The service was great. The coffee cup was filled frequently. While I am not a fan of Farmer Bros coffee, I have to applaud their attentiveness.

The onion soup was the soup of the day. A small cup, thank you. This onion soup was probably one of the best I have ever had. A rich broth laden with well cooked onion, topped with a garlicy toast, then generously smothered in melted cheese. Wish I had ordered more.

The grilled turkey sandwich came with thinly sliced turkey breast, and layers of white cheese, sauteed mushrooms and onion. The grilled bread was not greasy (good job!) and the cheese was melty. It came with a choice of potato salad, soup, fries, green salad, among others. This was a decent meal.

Our other meal was a standard breakfast. Bacon, eggs, and pancakes. The pancakes were large and quite tasty, served with real butter. I discovered that some blackberry jam on top made these pancakes a real winner. However, the meaty, thick cut bacon was overcooked, resulting in a tough, not crispy slice. I am not a fan of that.

My biggest disappointment was the scrambled eggs. They did a good job of cooking them correctly, but the "I Can't Fool You into Thinking This Is Butter" product they used to cook them in, was disgusting. It left a bad taste in my mouth. Inedible to the point I could not eat them.

This place has plenty of potential. I would return. But the bacon and eggs would not be a choice of mine.

Ventured into this place around 11AM (which is a great time, since the crowd gets much lighter!) We were told that if we arrived just 20 minutes earlier, we would have had to wait 45 minutes to get a seat. Luckily, we got seated upon arrival.

Breakfast options here are great. I came with a party of three, and so we had three dishes to share:

Crab cake egg-something or others - These are the most delicious of them all. Please do me a favor and order this. They are not at all skimpy on the crab cakes, and every bite will leave you yearning for more.
Country fried steak with pancakes - The pancakes are very popular here, and for good reason! They are soft and light and not too cakey, and just right! Country fried steak was good too, and not too overbearing
Waffles and sausage - Delicious, crispy, on point!

I'd come back in an instant! Kudos to the great food and service here!

Greasy spoon win!

Oh, you wanted the healthy option? Don't walk away so fast. I mean, really, it's Tahoe, not a lot of choices 'round here. You know better. Sit back down.

First off, weekenders should expect a wait. Even once you're seated, it's going to take a while to get your food. Relax. You're on vacation, aren't you? That's what I thought.

Not fancy, but charming and breakfast that takes care of you. Indoor and outdoor tables, plus first-come first-served counter seats.

Check the specials board if you're feeling like something to coat the tummy (or help you recharge after a big night). Think, the likes of: chicken fried steak & eggs or a "hangover helper" - yes, that includes the works plus biscuits & gravy.

Totally reasonable Tahoe breakfast prices.
2 eggs, potatoes, and toast/biscuit/eng muffin/short stack of pancakes: $7.5 +tax/tip. Best part, make it healthy: swap potatoes for fruit, tomatoes or cottage cheese for NO extra charge. LOVE IT! They can also swap in Egg Beaters for $0.60/egg if that's your thing.

Service is friendly, if a bit rushed at peak hours. Sadly, the kitchen can't handle the capacity of the restaurant and it can take a while to get your food.
Thumbs up: accepts credit cards.

Worth the few extra miles to drive away from King's Beach and grab your brekkie here. You won't be sorry and you won't go postal.

I may be a bit biased. But this is my favorite place to get breakfast. I grew up on the Mickey Mouse pancakes and hot cocoa topped with tons of whipped cream. My mom worked here for years when I was a kid. I moved to the Bay Area when I was nine. I lost my mom almost 9 years ago and for me; going back there feels like home. I've been back tons of times and have never been disappointed. Best biscuits and gravy ever. Fantastic ambiance (as mentioned in others posts) and great service has been a staple over the years. It can get busy so I suggest going earlier rather than later.

I recently had a friend of mine bring me back one of their T-Shirts. I love it! Saw some other people's posts regarding the shirts. Apparently they are a little sensitive and can't see the humor in it. My suggestion to them, don't buy it. To give the restaurant a negative review because you can't take a joke seems a bit lame.

Anyhow, if you're in the area, hit it up. It's a great spot. Yeah, not the cheapest. But unless you're going to the Biltmore for breakfast, you're going to be reminded that you're in a tourist spot. Restaurants, casinos, tourist tour spots, etc. are how these people pay their rent. Shell out a few bucks, support the locals and treat yourself to a great meal.

I love a good diner and this place is one! It felt very small town...a Sheriff at the counter drinking coffee, people greeting each other by name...

The place can feel a little stuffy on a hot day but I think it's a great breakfast spot where you can get a reasonably priced cup of coffee and pancakes before heading to the Lake.

We ate here for breakfast everyday during our recent stay in Tahoe. I gotta say that I enjoyed it. We were usually there by 7am everyday so we never waited for a table. The food was delicious, but just a little pricier than I would've expected.

Then again, we wouldn't have eaten here every day if was that expensive, or if the food wasn't good.

This is my new go-to place for breakfast in North Tahoe.

I thought this place was a little pricey?

$2.50 for coffee? (more than starbucks)

I ordered Spinach Bacon Omelet
BF ordered Eggs Benedict Hollandase on side.

I usually LOVE cheese, but the Omelet had it oozing out that it can congealed to the plate, kinda gross. Bacon was night and meaty, spinach was fresh. I also chose to have a biscuit with gravy on the side. THE BEST BISCUIT I'VE EVER HAD. nice, fluffy, fresh and the gravy had smaller pieces of sausage which I love because they're not big chunks.

Eggs Benedict: Egg was ok, the canadian bacon was a little undercooked. Didn't impress us.

Everything here seems to be made of butter. My omelet tasted like it, so did the side potatoes.

Overall, cute mom/pop place, go early like before 11 for easy seating. Decent food for Tahoe since meals there aren't always the best!

Total for two meals, two coffees, 1 OJ: $50!!!

A true small town Mom & Pop. The decor and ambiance are "home-y", with postage-stamp wallpaper.

I had the "French Toast Special" with a large hot chocolate (do it!!) and my boyfriend had the "Waffle Special" - those items respectively with 2 eggs and bacon/sausage or homefries. Both batters are 'home'made and both were topped with sweetened, salty, melty butter, and a dusting of powdered sugar, and came with a side of syrup.
The food was absolutely delicious and flavorful.

Our service was great - the staff were friendly, attentive and helpful, and the food and drink are reasonably priced.

I recommend a visit - especially to tourists!

If you are in the Tahoe area and wanting breakfast, you HAVE TO GO HERE!!

We walked in and instantly felt like we were in a small town diner (which, I think we were) where all the locals come in the morning for their coffee and to chat. The place is so cute! And I am a fan of the postage-stamp wallpaper, keeping with the "old post office" theme.

We sat in the small front room, with the sun peering in through the windows and watched the road in front of the restaurant. The owners' son was our waiter, and even though he had quite a few other tables and was managing the place alone, we never felt forgotten about.

Now for the food:
THE FRENCH TOAST: It had me when the menu said "we make our batters from scratch". So I ordered that, a few links of sausage, and scrambled eggs. The FT was oblong pieces of bread with a sweetened, salty, melty butter with a dusting of powdered sugar, and of course a side of syrup. #$%$%^%^&@!!!!!! Seriously, I'll never forget that french toast. I kept talking about it for the rest of the trip!
My H ordered OE eggs, potatoes, and a corned beef hash. He raved about his too, but I didn't hear much of it considering I was face-down in my plate.

Long story short: ORDER THE FRENCH TOAST!!
