  American down home baking Bakery!
  I found this place on my way to purchase a Berkshire pig.... sometimes life is funny...here in a little town of Citra I found a foodies paradise. First the pig then this! I initially past this place twice once going in and once leaving, then I made a u turn in the gas station parking lot...Great move. It does not look like the place you would find what I call real gourmet baking...which to me is no preservatives and no crap oil! When I asked miss julie if she used hydrogenated oil she looked at me like a cat at a space ship ...hydo WHAT she said, I use canola oil...I fell to my knees and shouted there must be a god and this is where she gets her baked goods. These are baked goods, real baked goods, down home flavor REAL FLAVOR...and the ginger shaps are to die for! The blueberry cake was real bloody blueberries... I do not eat white bread...but her jalpendo white is incredible. I keep it in the back deep freezer and cut as I need ...like a taste of heaven, no butter needed...just so good. This reminds me of in the 70's when my Dad would take us to Lancaster PA for the communal dinners, my Dad was tough guy he did not do communal anything...did not even like the word communal ...but in Amish country he would bury the communal hatchet  ...this place is like amish country...down home baking...american gourmet baking....Everything is frozen except what she did that day I believe and cookies...did I mention the ginger snaps...
  I believe they are doing breakfast /lunch again

  There isn't anything better than finding a place off the beaten path or highway in this case. Citra is a little place off beautiful Old Highway 301 in Marion County. We saw signs for this place and my mother decided to follow the smell of yeasty goodness to this local treasure.
  Hummingbird cake, Strawberry Bread, Carrot Zucchini Bread, Carrot Cake, oh gosh, I can't remember all the breads the kind lady at the door rattled off to us! They were endless and abounding.
  Not only do they bake, they also cook up breakfast foods in the Southern tradition. So if you're in Ocala or heading up north to Gainesville, stop in and say hello.
