I was planning a visit (from Arizona) to see my brother who lives in Citrus Heights and I wanted to go to a karaoke bar. I found On The Rocks on Yelp and the reviews didn't disappoint!
We met a bunch of old friends here Friday, October 12. Jeremy was a great bartender, the beers were cheap & cold! Gary (karaoke host) kept the songs loud & moving right along while also singing some awesome backup! We got there at 9pm, met a few locals, everybody was very friendly. By the time we left at 2am we were all the best of friends! A great mix of people! If a loud, fun night is what you want then this is the place!
If you're looking for a local neighborhood bar, this is the place. Â Good people, good times, great location. Â Karaoke, darts, pool, and pinball? Â It's pretty much exactly what you're looking for if your into a rad little dive spot. Â Not only that, the bartenders are heavy handed, so their drinks are worth the price.
Review Source:So we figured it has been awhile since we visited On  The Rocks..use to be a favorite of ours..we show up at 2PM, not open, show up at 3 PM, not open, show up at 315 PM, hey our favorite bartender is there opening the door, so in we go to..
"WE ARE NOT OPEN, YOU WILL HAVE TO COME BACK IN 5 TO 15 MINUTES". Â Oh, OK, what we can't sit down? Not, hey guys, how ya doin, I am sorry I am running a bit late...etc..just pretty much a "go fuck yourself I don't want to be here and don't care if you ever come back" attitude..so guess what..we won't be back..
Shakers across the street was glad to take my money.
A friend of mine took me here this past weekend. Â I was pretty apprehensive to say the least at first appearances. Â This place is the pure definition of a dive bar! Â And the patrons help to keep that label alive and well. Â Not really any pretentious "bro's" or other such people to ruin a good time here. Â The crowd is pretty diverse yet they all had one thing in common. Â Everyone was there to just have a good time. Â I didn't see any drama or anything else to derail the night. Â Thumbs up there!
The bartender, Tiffany, is a total sweetheart and took good care of us during our time here. Â Her service and personality were noteworthy for sure. Â The drink specials they were doing Saturday night were good too. Â Pinnacle vodka was on special and any Pinnacle mixed drink was $3 if I remember correctly. Â Tiffany was spot on with suggestions of different/unique drinks for the ladies in my party. Â
This isn't the place to take someone who needs to be impressed. Â But if you have friends who just want to have a good time and not worry about anything then it's a safe bet that On The Rocks will fit the bill nicely. Â Low key dive bar with fair prices and good service.
Dive bars have always acted as a sort of Lithmus Test for me when getting to know a neighborhood. This one was no different.
I have to admit, I used to turn my nose up at the mention of Citrus Heights but as luck would have it I ended up living here...and dare I say...liking it.
Although you will see mullets, missing teeth, and the occasional bucket of KFC kicking around the joint, the people are absolutely a blast to be with. Just check your attitude at the door and you will be sure to have a good time.
The drinks aren't the strongest in the world, but they come pretty cheap and grabbing a couple of them to get you to that happy place usually doesn't pose a challenge.
Did I mention they have Karaoke? Oh yeah, you definitely know where I'm headed:]
On The Rocks was a great find! Â I went twice, both on a Wednesday and a Friday. Â Both nights were fun. Â As expected the Wednesday night crowd was kind of small, but there was great energy and everyone was welcoming and really friendly. Â Friday night was a lot of fun, lots of people and the karaoke is good with tons of song choices. Â I do wish they had a larger selection of beer on tap, they only offer Bud, but bottle prices are very good, with Friday night happy hour prices all night long! That's Blue Moon for $3.75, and you just cannot beat that! Â Plus, $2.00 Jello shots! Â The owner, bartenders and bouncers are all very cool. Â I will definitey go back! (4 stars, only because they don't have Blue Moon on tap. Otherwise, 5 stars!)
Review Source:On The Rocks is a good place to go if you don't want to wait forever for an overpriced, watered down drink. Â There is no shortage to fun when you come to On The Rocks, especially since the bartenders here have a heavy hand and a small price tag.
Play a game of pool, sing a song, staple a dollar to the wall and get drunk! Â What more can you ask for?
I met my boyfriend of 2 years when he was a bartender at this bar... if it wasn't for On The Rocks, I wouldn't be with him! HAHA! Anywho, chill atmosphere and a great set of bartenders. Â They have heavy hands, and the prices are right. Â If you're a fan of karaoke, this is the place for you... if not, it's entertaining anyway. Â Interesting clientele always leads to great people watching. :)
