Oriental King Restaurant

Awesome food.

Best Vietnamese in town!  Ok, it's the only one but it's still very good.
Love the Bun bo Hue (spicy Vietnamese Beef Stew), Cha Gio (Fried Spring Rolls) and Goi Cuon (fresh summer roll) with Hoisin Peanut sauce and the prices are downright cheap in comparison to similar restaurants in any other city.

I find the above mentioned dishes as good as any I've had (including the Chinatowns of major cities such as Houston, Chicago, New York, etc.) and their Goi Cuon (egg noodle soup) too, but the Pho, although good, isn't quite as authentic as it could be.

Note that I'm not reviewing their Chinese food or their buffet - we go there for their Vietnamese menu.  The selection isn't as large as Vietnamese menus in large cities, but they do an excellent job on the appetizers and soups.  Still, outstanding for Kokomo, and that's why I give it 5 stars.

My favorite place to eat in Kokomo.  Hands down the best crab rangoon, besides my own.  Although my crab rangoon was modeled after theirs.  LOL.  I've tried several dishes here but non hold a candle to the bun ga.  I lived in Portland, OR for two years and ate at several Vietnamese restaurants there (they're on every corner) and still Oriental King has them beat.  I love the owner.  She always recognizes me and my mom when we come in.  She even asked my mom how I was doing when I moved out to Oregon.  One of the first places I went to when I came back and it didn't disappoint at all.  Can't beat the friendly service (when the owner waits on you) and the great food.  They also have an extensive menu.  I completely ignore the Chinese menu every time I'm there.  The secret is with the Vietnamese menu.  Hopefully someday the buffet fad will wear off and this place will finally get the place it deserves as one of Kokomo's finest and busiest restaurants.
