The best place to go for a hoagie or sub sandwich ANYWHERE.  I love the cold Italian, my wife likes the warm turkey and bacon.  Whenever I am in Waukegan the Hoagie Hut is a must-stop!!!  Haven't found a better sub sandwich ANYWHERE.

So delicious! I love coming here and wish I could eat this everyday but unfortunately it's impossible I would gain 100 pounds and not be able to fit through the door. DELiSH! :D

The religious experience you will have at Hoagie Hut is nothing to be ashamed of.
You'll be fully possessive of the experience, and if you have half a heart, you'll share this experience with your friends and enemies alike!  There's no better cheese steak and no one does it up like these folks do. Shredded Steak, Grilled Onions, Mayo, American Cheese, lettuce, and secret sauce or whatever, tons of oregano... You are not intrigued?

The original was located in High Wood, and I went there with friends and acquaintances for many years. Anyone who didn't know, was driven out there by myself or other friends in the know. We loved the experience of seeing that smug and angry bastard's face when we ordered.  He hated the lot of us! It didn't matter! We got what we came for.
Sure, it wasn't the cleanest place, but hell, when you're an addict, you really couldn't care less!

Crack on a bun! Greasy! Delicious at first smell. Tears to the eyes. Less room in the pants. LET'S DANCE!

A delicious, cheap, artery-clogging indulgence that any true Chicagoan needs to experience.  If restaurant cleanliness is at the top of your list of priorities, however, you might want to close your eyes for the duration of your Hut visit, as both the location and the staff leave a lot to be desired. This place is such a north shore landmark that my high school politics teacher used The Hoagie Hut as an example in Utility (or Utils).  My favorite go-to is a hot cheese hoagie with curly fries and lemonade.  This is a required stop when I make my way back through my hometown!

The Chicago cheese steak sandwich is the best sandwich on the planet. Could your heart stop while eating it? Yes. Do your arteries thicken while you're eating it? Yes. Does your cholesterol go up 100 points that day? Yes, But its SOOOOOOOOOOOO GOOD!!!!!!

I used to frequent the original store location in Highwood, and the Chicago location was in my neighborhood off of Wrightwood. I can't imagine what it would do to my cholesterol now but it used to be sooo good.

In a sentence...come here if you really like it; don't come here for great service!

The first sandwich I had from here was the turk&cheese.... it was great.... one of the best I've ever had. Went back a lil over a year later(14Apr) for a cheese steak and was disappointed. The bread was chewy as hell, the meat had pieces of BONE in it and it was barely seasoned. I will give them one more try but it won't be for anything that has the word steak in it. And I hope they cook the bread a lil' better next time. Oh well.... I still recommend if you want something besides cold ass Jimmy Johns or Subway.

An all time classic, legend, epic, iconic establishment. Originally in Highwood Illinois and one in the city and I think one in Vegas. Good to see it's still around if it is the original owners. No better cheese steak sandwich ever existed or will ever exist.

Sliced grilled steak, thick pepper- encrusted bacon, and grilled onion ... slobber ...

It's greasy. It's close to being downright gross. And it's one of the most frickin' delicious sandwiches ever.

There are slightly better or larger servings of cheese-fries to be had elsewhere, but theirs are still an excellent accompaniment to the steak hoagie.

Definitely a "treat," not daily fare.

Others have stated they have additional menu selections (we *can't* stop ordering the steak/bacon/grilled onion), feel free to check those out if you are insanely health-obsessed. As for us, we'll go for an extra bike ride ... or two.

The "hut" looks abandoned, we always fear they are closed when we approach. I guess that adds to the excitement when we discover they are, indeed, open, and to our disappointment when they are, sadly, not open -- Oh NO! What are we gonna do now?!?

Well they have rebuilt this from the shed it used to be, still very small made smaller by the double entrance which is odd.  They offer about 25 "hoagie's" , not including hamburgers and hotdogs, they even have salads.

The cheesesteak hoagie is OK, very greasy (even wrapped in foil the sandwich leaked onto some paper I had on my seat during the drive home) and they put onions on when I did not ask nor did it say they were included.  The bread was to hard so everything squirts out after every bite and any cheese that was included was washed away by all the grease.  Despite the humble building the hoagies are not cheap, $5 for 6 inches and $9-10 for 12, not including any fries or drinks.

I had eaten here many years ago and thought it was OK but not memorable enough to go back til now.

A tiny little place with a drive-thru that I thought was closed down until tonight.  They have a bacon and cheese sub!  I almost tried it but decided to go for the top of the menu, the "Chicago Cheese Steak Hoagie".  It was delicious, although I didn't really care for all the oregano they splashed on top of my sandwich and fries.  Next time I'll try it with bacon and sans oregano.

Another place from back home that I CRAVE!  Their cheesesteak with bacon hoagie is the greatest sandwich ever created!  (aside from my turkey and bacon panini with muenster cheese).  I know the chances are very slim, but if you're ever in Waukegan, Illinois, you have to make a visit to Hoagie Hut!
