Original Italian Pizza

My husband and I lived in Milton for almost a year right next to the OIP. We loved it. We tried many pizza places in and around Milton and Lewisburg, PA and this place was by far our favorite. Too be honest, it's still our favorite and we moved to Danville. The pizza just tasted delicious every time and I love that they serve pierogies now. The staff is also friendly and there are a few Italians even :) The OIP in Danville just isn't the same. We occasionally drive to this one just because it's the best in our minds.

OIPs (Original Italian Pizza) are common throughout central PA.  What is special about this one?

First, the sauce.  There are several options for pizza in Milton.  If the sauce on the pie is important, this place has the best.  The flavor is sweet with a subtle zing; not overly sweet.

Then, the bread.  OIPs make their bread on site.  The bread is hearty and shaped like a flattened football.  When the sandwich is made on the fresh, still warm bread, mmm ..mmm.  Can't be beat, even by that place that Jared likes do much.

Most important, the reason this place stands above other local pizza places, is the owner - Mario.  In fact, I call the OIP "Mario's".  He is there almost everyday.  He knows his regulars.  He takes care of you.  If I forget to say "no hot peppers" he knows to not put them on anyway, because he knows me as more than just another customer.  And this is true for everyone who orders regularly.  If you are not a regular, the service is still fantastic.  

Prices have gone up over the past year.  Most sandwiches come in over the five dollar mark.  Some might balk at the price, but it is comparable to other sandwich shops in the area who spread the same amount of meat across 12 inches.  The pies (pizzas) are more expensive then the national chains, but they are also larger and taste much better.

My first pick for pizza when I am home (Milton) will always be the OIP.
