The downside of Nick's having so many beers on tap is that I have horrible vision, so I end up ordering "the one that looks like a surfboard" or "the big red ball". The plus side is that if you're a beer geek, like my s.o., you don't need to be able to read the taps (he ends up telling me which ones I'd like, anyway).
Generally, I think pizzas are the thing to order. The did have a lamb shank special recently that was tasty, although could have spent a little longer braising to tenderize it. Other than that, the food isn't bad. It probably won't win any culinary awards, but it's not bad.
The people at Nick's are friendly, including other customers. Go figure. Â All in all, a pleasant place to pass a little time, catch a game on the telly and munch on telly-watching food. And oh yes, have a beer or few.
I ordered takeout last Saturday from Nick's and it was very disappointing.
My buddy and I both ordered the Hawaiian Burger cooked medium. The patty was hard as a rock and extremely overdone. I took 2 bites then hucked the piece of rubber out the window. Probably the worst burger I have ever had. I would have called back to complain but we were rushed out pretty quickly when we picked up our order (We were the group that you couldn't find us tops to your soda cups). It wasn't worth the effort to me and I didn't want to risk getting sick. The fries were dry and needed some seasoning too.
I hate to give a bad review because it could have just been an inexperienced cook. Â But I'll never go again and would never recommend a friend. If you stop by, go for the pizzas - my other buddy got one and said it was good (hence the 2 star rating).
I Always go here with my family and/or friends! 0 regrets! Since 1991 the ownership has always been good. Markus (the newer owner) is great, the food is great, and their are always many beers on tap! Pool table upstairs. Â You can sit at the bar if you aren't 21 (good for family). Lots of parking in the back. Waitresses And cooks are all nice and friendly! Never a bad choice!
