Get here at opening because if you don't, you'll have a wait on your hands! The crab dip was incredible, sweet potato fries and maple BBQ was like having dessert, and the burger of the week:beer infused with mushroom sauce and provolone was divine! Definitely worth a return visit.

We ate with friends here - no one was overly impressed for a place featured on the Food Network.  Meal was average, tried the shrimp & grits & best we can say overall is "meh".

Awesome food!!! Scallops over ham and pea risotto rocked my world and things will never be the same. If you are in or around the OBX you must check it out.

Had an awesome dinner at Outer Banks Brewing Station!  Pan seared scallops were amazing!  Great atmosphere and child friendly.  Our daughter enjoyed the playground out back after we ate and we were able to take in the outdoor music.

We visited on 7/6/13, we were seated right away and that was the best part of the meal. We ordered, got our apps and then no drink refills nothing for almost 45 minutes. We begged the bus girl to get us water and find our waitress. The waitress finally appeared threw our lunch on the table, all of them were missing sauces, a dryer crabcake I have never seen. We begged for the check, the waitress never even asked why we didn't eat hardly any of our lunch even after we said we didn't want to go boxes.  I emailed the info on how bad the service and food was, they said I guess we were really busy. I have never been treated so poorly by an establishment. I would never recommended this place.

Awful!  Pulled pork sandwich my husband took the pork out because it was so dry.  Put more oysters in the Fried Oyster sandwich or a smaller bun.  Service very slow. The one star is for the cold beer. Very disappointing.

We ate at Outer Banks Brewing Station our first day on vacation.  We just happened to get there right as the doors opened.  We were seated promptly but waited a little too long for drink orders so we placed our food orders with our drinks.  We waited a really long time for our food to come out.  Our orders were the chicken sandwich, three of the chicken wraps, and an order of salmon with 2 side orders of asparagus.  My Mom and I really liked the salmon.  It was lightly seasoned and did not have a sauce on it which we were thrilled about.  We felt like $5 per order of asparagus was slightly high for the portion.

No one in our group was really blown away by their meal.  It was a really cool place visually and it had a cool vibe but nothing to rave about.  I'm sure their beers and drinks are awesome but we didn't get to try any.

We enjoyed our visit enough to stop a second time during our weeklong stay at the beach. The kids enjoyed the outside play area and we enjoyed a few glasses of wine while listening to live music and waiting for our appys and meals to arrive.

During our first visit, our 8 yr. old daughter's filet mignon was over cooked (we ordered medium; it arrived well). They comped us two sundaes, which was nice but two $3 sundaes is not the same as a $20 filet (she did not eat the steak). Overall, the experience was enjoyable enough to repeat, only this time we returned with friends and our children.

This experience was also very enjoyable, with the exception of live music that was so loud we could not hear the waitress (or each other) speak. Food was exceptional, as were the two bottles of wine. Ironically, we had the same waitress both evenings. She was very patient and attentive, despite being extremely busy.

We went straight here as soon as we arrived in Kill Devil Hills. We were starving. We ate at the bar which had a divey feel (but not in a bad way). I got the yard bird which was recommended by the bartender. It was phenomenal. Definitely worth the visit. I didn't care for their microbrews though. I'm a beer fan but by no means an expert.

So here is the story. A group of families, including mine,  came down for a week vacation. We had the opportunity for a guy's night and since most of us are beer lovers, this place seemed to be a natural fit. Now, let's be clear, this is a brewery in a small beach town, so my expectations are not high. When we arrived, we were told that the wait would be over an hour. Not a problem as they have a nice outdoor area with corn hole and a small bar.  The problem came when we realized they were out of most of their beers. Most beer drinkers love IPAs, but they were out. They had four beers available, one being a hefeweizen, which I generally don't like and left me with three other choices that were ok at best. Our wait was much less then told, the server was adequate, and the food was pretty good. A little pricey, but expected at the beach. I had the bratwurst and liked it. The other folks had a hamburger, bison burger, scallops, and the swordfish dinner special. We were all happy. After dinner, we went back to the bar and had another drink before we all realized our disappointment and went on yelp to find a new place.  Overall, this place was "ok" and I would have given it three stars, but the lack of beer at a brewery (especially in early summer) made it two.

Went there last week for the first time in almost 10 years.  The food was almost as good as I remembered it.  The beer seemed to have lost some goodness.  The place is definitely more popular now (thanks a lot Guy Fieri).
The chef salad was very good, the scallop dinner was awesome, the filet was nicely cooked.  Was a little surprised that they offered a kid's filet (@ $17).  I had a flight of the Olsch, Lemongrass, Altimeter, and Stout.  The Lemongrass seemed a little off, the Olsch and Stout were very good and I liked the Altimeter enough to have a pint.  I'm all for a business being popular and making money, so I'm happy that they're popular, but it just seemed like they were trying to shove 100 people into a space that was designed only for 60.  I would probably go back next  year when I'm in the OBX for vacation, just during the afternoon.  Definitely no longer a place just for beer lovers.

We came here last year and very much enjoyed the meal.  This year was very different.

Including a 50 minute wait, the entire meal took almost three hours.  It included slow service, burnt hush puppies, greasy chicken sandwiches, below average mussels, burnt kids fish, greasy fried shrimp, and average crab legs.

At least the beer and root beer were good.

We will not return next year.

One word... AMAZING!!!!!  All the food was fresh and delicious!  The service was outstanding!  I had the fresh grilled Cobia served with gnocchi and peas with a black truffle sauce over it.  My husband had crab cakes served on top of a small mound of mashed potatoes with seared asparagus!!!! The staff was attentive and friendly,  I would definitely go there again!!!!!  Top notch!!   Prices were very reasonable as well!!'

We went to the outer banks for a vacation and the end of May and someone we met on the beach told us to try it out.  The food was excellent - I had the chicken sandwhich that was recommend - WOW and my husband had fish.  There was something just incredible about the tarter sauce...even I liked it when I tried it and I'm usually not a tarter sauce girl.    I had an amazing creme brulee dessert.   Our girls enjoyed the outside play area.

Being from Wisconsin we enjoy a good beer.  We got the sampler of beers and I was a fan of just one or two of them...not quite as good as some of the breweries around here.  That being said - the Creme Soda was incredible!  I took a sip of my daughter's and opted to get my own.

Food was very good and did not have the taste of a chain. We loved the way the restaurant was decorated and the outdoor area was perfect for the beach. A bit noisy (music - maybe we were right by the speakers), but that is the only negative we experienced.

Came here for the brew since the food prices were a little too high for our budget. With that being said, the atmosphere of the restaurant was pretty cool and the beer selection is good. I had the Aye IPA! and their Rye Stout. The stout was one of the better ones I've had. Went down very smooth, with very little bitter taste. The Aye IPA was a very solid IPA, great flavoring and brings the right kind of punch - not too strong, not too weak.

Definitely worth trying the beer, probably will go for the food sometime.

For the record, I did not know this restaurant was on Diners, Drive-Ins & Dives, but that's pretty cool to know.

I was just here for the beer but fell in love!

Continuing my boyfriends quest to try some of the Diners, Drive-Ins, & Dives spots we drove down from Va Beach for a lil day trip adventure. We have seen the Brewing Station's episode a few times & made it our first stop.

I ordered the beer sampler & chose my 4 brews. Mmmmmm. I loveeeee the lemon grass beer. I could have one right now & it's only 9:30am ;)

We can't wait to come back & sample the food when we're back in the area next weekend!

First off we should have walked right out the door when the hostess gave me attitude about where I wanted to sit. I should have gotten her name (if management is reading this she is a chubby brunette who worked the door as well as served a 16 top on Friday, May 17, 2013 around 730 pm).

She apparently took issue with the fact that I didn't like the table she brought us to (the worst table in the place, and there are some awful tables there), so we asked for a different unoccupied table. She slammed down a plate to show us her displeasure. My sister ordered a pina colada and lo and behold the "machine" was broken. Guess you can't make a pina colada without a fancy "machine". Ever hear of a blender? You ARE a full service bar, aren't you? Lots of noisy kids and babies (why they are brought to a BREWING STATION is beyond me). And avoid the bratwich sandwich. It was cold.

Overall a bad night. We have been there before but will not be back. This terrible meal ruined it for us.  There are MUCH better places to eat in OBX.

This is the best place that we ate at during our visit to obx. I ordered a burger, which was cooked nicely, with simple fixings. We also ordered hush puppies as an app- very good, and the portion was huge. My friend and I couldn't finish them!

We got there after lunch and before dinner, but we were pleased that they still had a fairly full menu to choose from even though it wasn't an official meal time.  When we were leaving, the table next to us was in time for dinner, and the specials that the waiter listed made me want to stay and eat again! Next time, for sure.

I tried a beer sampler and thought it was fine--nothing really special. We did not eat during this visit. The bar itself was dark and felt pretty grimy. The wind powered beer operation is a pretty cool concept and they have a nice outdoor space for kids to run around and play.

    This ain't Vermont.

i say that because Vermont has great maple syrup and a bunch of breweries with exceptional beer.  At OBBS, I didn't see any maple syrup and the beers that they had were just okay.

Stopped here for lunch and enjoyed the ESB.  They were out of the Hefeweizen and they ran out of the Porter when we were there, but I had a sip of that so nothing was missed.  It was the least robust porter I've tasted.  The IPA was okay too.  The kolsch was decent, but not spectacular.  ESB was the standout.

Food was okay. My crabcake didn't taste like it had a lot of crab in it, but the potato wedges were good.  Would have liked a shrimp po boy but they don't have it, although they make an oyster po boy and they have other shrimp dishes.   Black bean burger received rave reviews, so that was good.  Brew-ben sandwich was okay. The folks who got the steak sandwiches liked them.  Jalapeno bottlecaps appetizer was very good. But it is very spicy, just like they say on the menu.

Service was friendly enough.  The guy bartender was very nice when we walked in. The waitress at the table was friendly, although we asked her twice for a box for one meal and she ended up throwing it away.

It's not the Ritz-Carlton, but you're really not going to find that in OBX, so I would definitely say this was a decent place.

Possibly, some of the best food I've ever had!

In all the years we've vacationed in the Outer Banks, we've never thought to try Outer Banks Brewing Station. It could be that it sounds a little like a "brewery", or that "brewing station" doesn't ring of exceptional food, or that the wind power turbine seems "industrial" (as does "brewery"), or that it looks a little like an old church that had been renovated.

Do not be like us and let any similar perceptions steer you away. The food is fabulous!

We went - based on seeing they've won so many accolades - at the beginning of March before Spring Break when many restaurants on the Outer Banks are closed. We went in at 6:30 on a Friday night, were seated right away, on the "stage" (bands come in and play at 10:00 so this area is the stage by then) but it wasn't like a "stage" per se, just an elevated dining area. We got a table right in front of the window looking out across the street which, while a view of the highway, was still a nice place to sit. By the time we finished our meal the place was packed - in the off season - always a good sign (and I don't think it's because they're one of the few local places open because there are a lot of chains that do stay open year-round).

My wife and I ordered a beer "flight" - it's 4 5 Oz. beers you could choose from the ones they're brewing on site (they rotate and there are guest beers too). I got the Olsch (yawn), Hugh Hefeweizen (banana taste, which I don't like, but I can see where it would appeal (pun :-) to others), and I can't remember the other two - the Porter was very, very good. My wife got a Lemongrass Hefe that she loved (really tasted like lemongrass, again, not to my liking).

They are also praised for their Playground and Kid's menu. While my kids eat from the adult menu, I think kids would love the choices - something for both the picky eater and the more adventurous. I bet they really do a great job of satisfying vacationing families during the season.

We had the Duck appetizer (I can barely find anyone serving Duck in the major metro where I live!) and it was superior. Even my very picky youngest son who rarely eats anything other than hamburgers and french fries said "I'm going to order that next time". It was a special though...

We also got the Tuna Stack . OMG good. The menu says "the first bite is with your eyes" and this is absolutely, 100% true. My son was literally speechless (a rarity!) when he saw how beautiful the plate was. We all were. And it tasted every bit as good.

My wife got a Scallops app (we were full from an earlier lunch at Goombays so we just ordered apps on this visit) that had a "deconstructed" bruschetta garnish (reduced balsamic drizzle, chopped basil in oil,  diced tomatoes) on a bed of risotto. OK, I love scallops and have them many places, and in general, scallops, when good, all seem to taste the same - it's the searing or the accompaniment that adds flavor to the scallop - the scallop doesn't take on much flavor itself. However, the one I tasted off my wife's plate was easily the tastiest scallop I've ever had. I literally have never had one where the scallop itself actually tasted that good!

The kids also got Root Beer and Ginger Beer. I think these were brewed on site too. My youngest was unsure about this and the waitress said she'd bring him the ginger beer to try and if he didn't like it bring him root beer instead. She brought a full glass and he didn't like it but my oldest took it over after he finished this root beer. She brought the youngest the root beer too - no charge for the ginger beer. Let me just say this, if you don't drink alcohol, or didn't go for the beer on this visit, DO NOT get regular soft drinks. Get the Root Beer! . It puts Mug, A&W, Barq's, or even many of the "boutique" store-bought root beers to shame!!!

My youngest ordered Chips and Salsa and Black Been dip. I will say this was a bit of a let down compared to everything else. Luckily, he wasn't too hungry and we took them back to the hotel and they made a great midnight snack (I found the chips fine, and salsa good, just not a style my son liked nor up to the level of the other food).

Wait, there's more! For dessert we had the Pecan Tart. I honestly NEVER order Pecan Pie and don't really like nuts as a dessert item, in brownies or cookies, etc. (eat them plain though). This thing was fantastic. I might just start eating Pecan Pie, but I'm probably spoiled from this thing now!!!

The wait service was better than average, extremely nice and very good with the kids. Not the best I've ever had but up there. The atmosphere I like - huge open space (old church?) with various "levels" and "areas" and interesting seating areas (alcove, upstairs, etc.). I only found out later that they are GREEN and the turbine is there for a reason! Also, RECYLCED boxes for leftovers, not styrofoam! Good for the environment, good for the kids, good for the stomach, and good for the soul.

    Go.

As a home brewer and beer fanatic for nearly 3 decades, these beers are as good as they get.  Not one or two from the draught, but all of them!  The food was very, very good.  It's more upscale than standard pub grub and a little more pricey, but was worth it -- good value.  Service was very good too!  We'll definitely be back there again!

Yum!  Great philosophy and great food.  OBBS serves terrific local cuisine, home made brews, and is conscious of its carbon footprint.

The tuna stack app was delicious!  Fresh sushi grade tuna, pickled cucumbers, wonton bites, and wasabi sauce are a terrific combo.

The crab cake and the scallops are local, fresh, and tasty.  The beer flight is a very tasty trip.

Food was really good. We saw the Diner's Drive-ins and Dive and give it a try when visiting the Outer Banks. The place is a lot bigger than I thought. The staff was very friendly and helped you out with choosing one of their crafted beers. They had a few to choose from and you mentioned what you were planning on ordering and the staff would recommend a beer. My wife and I ordered the shrimp and grits (it's what Guy Fieri had while filming his show) and my Dad got the local scallops. Both were wonderful. That was my first time having shrimp and grits. I'll definitely order them again. We actually had the small portion and it came with 6 shrimps. Not bad!

The beer was good too. Make sure you explain what kind of beer you like and they will hook you up. Great food and service.

5 stars for the beer.  3 stars for food and service.

The lemongrass wheat is very tasty.  Unfortunately my burger was a bit on the burnt side and service was just average.  Overall not a bad place though.  I'll give it another chance.

Second year we have gone here. Memory is kind.
Beers were OK, but, not much variety.
Food looked real good, but, was lacking flavor - kind of strange.
Kind of like all the spices were diluted.
The one sandwich we ordered was very good.
May try one more time next summer.

Came here for my birthday meal. Inside is huge, with more seating than most of the places i've been. The menu was huge and did overwhelm me. I started with a flight and the scallop appetizer.

The scallops were great, the texture was spot on. The rissoto was creamy and rich, I enjoyed this more than my meal. Honestly, the portion of the appetizer could have been my meal with a salad.

My entree was the special of the evening, a swordfish steak. When I was brought my steak it was about the size of a baby swordfish, enormous! It was cooked nicely but my one complaint is that it was swimming in this butter sauce with enough minced garlic on the bottom to kill the whole Dracula family.

All of the beers were drinkable but a bit boring, only the porter had anything going for it. I was also upset they did not have the lemongrass brew available.

Aside from the garlic nothing was awful, it just wasnt anything special. I will try this place again and order something else. My mom got the fried shrimp with a salad, it was great!

Seriously!!! If you have never been here during your stay in the Outer Banks, you are missing out! My family and I actually ate here twice during our week there. It's just that good. The fish and chips is to die for (I had it both times we ate there!), their burgers are always juicy and delicious and their french fries are perfectly crispy and seasoned. Their menu is diverse enough for even the pickiest eaters; sandwiches, seafood, steaks, chops and burgers. The service is always spot on and friendly.  I'm not a beer drinker, so I can't tell you anything about their home brewed beers!
This place is great! If you haven't tried it yet, you should!

The Yard Bird is the best chicken sandwich you can have but you have to get it with bacon and cheese... thank me later.

The service was hella lame, home girl rolled her eyes when I asked for more mayonnaise. It's the yard bird girl, I came here to eat like a pimp and you can tell that by the way I ordered my ish with bacon and cheese on a already fried sandwich, seriously...

I still suggest going inside and getting a beer and if you have kids they have wooden ships and shit for your kids to play on out back.

I would totally five star this place if the service wasn't ass every time I rolled up on this joint.

Every time we go to the Outer Banks, which is often, we end up eating at least once at Outer Banks Brewing Company, and frequently more than once. They have excellent food and their own crafted beers are delightful. Hard to pass on their desserts, too, especially the molten lava chocolate cake.

Last night, we had pan-seared scallops on risotto and it was excellent.

There is always a crowd, but it is a large restaurant and the waits have never been long.

OBBC is a tad expensive, but there are no cheap restaurants on the OBX; just expensive good ones and expensive bad ones. This is one of the former.

We went to Outer Banks Brewing Station last year for the first and absolutely fell in love! I'm a craft beer lover so we went out of our way (stayed in north Corolla) to get there for lunch on our way in on Sunday. We did a little shopping and then timed it right to get there at noon. Since most of the traffic was leaving the island, we had and even tougher time than normal to turn left across 158.

I had peaked at the menu when we were planning on going there, but until you get there a peak at the plates around you to see the plating and sizes, you can never tell. I know it's a resort town, but we were still kinda shocked at the amount of toddlers and babies!  The beers were fantastic...the food was fantastic... for a busy Sunday the service was fantastic. The interior of the place is great! It's fashioned to make you think you're inside of a lifestation and life saving boat ! A big bar, very high ceilings due to the 2nd floor. The oriental rugs hanging on the wall behind what become the band stage at night we real cool! We ended with the most beautiful to go growler I've ever seen! That IPA didn't last long!

This year, even though we were staying in Hatteras, we we thinking about having lunch at the 12/64 intersection, or Manteo, but then my wife suggested seeing how long it'd take to get to the brewing station. The phone navigation said it was 20 minutes away so we went for it even though we knew traffic would make it longer...it's worth it!

We started with fried okra and tuna bites. The okra had a great spice. The tuna bites were cooked perfectly and the jerk spice was perfect with the mango salsa! Fopr lunch I had the steak sandwich! It was one of the BEST I've ever had!! Flank steak done perfectly rare! Chiabata roll with caramelized onions and blue cheese with cherry aioli! WOW the tastes were amazing!! My wife had the portabella sandwich. She said it was nice and meaty, and the tastes of the sun dried tomato, spinach and pesto worked perfectly. My daughter had her usual chicken fingers and honey mustard! She said they were both great...not out of the box/bottle. Everything The service again was great despite being packed.

I was tempted to get another IPA growler for the ride home, but decided to wait until next year when we go back to Corolla! Can't wait!

After days of fried fish meals, we came here for lunch looking for something different. The lunch/bar menu is less extensive than the dinner but still offered a break from all the fried things we had been enjoying. I did see a few fried like appetizers I would have tried on another trip. I was also interested in checking out the wind powered aspects of this brewery as I like to support green friendly energy whenever possible.

They offer a few of their beers on draft, we tried the IPA, Olsch and Lemongrass Wheat. My favorite was the Lemongrass, it reminded me of a local Philly brew by Dock Street. All the beers were good and it was nice to get a chance to sample something local.

For lunch I had the backyard pizza which is made with a spelt crust. It was tasty and very different. It was large enough to box up and my nephew enjoyed the leftovers for dinner. Others in our group had sandwiches. I found it interesting to learn that NC law mandates burgers be cooked medium well or well (I'm not a meat eater but it seems excessive for quality meat).

I noticed some posters for live music on the way out, seems like a nice place to come at night as well.

We actually wanted to go to the Blue Moon Beach grill but they were closed for Independence Day, so Outer Banks Brewing Station it is! This place is more of a pub than a restaurant really, which we normally wouldn't have minded, but we had our 14 month old with us and wasn't really the vibe we were going for. Nevertheless, they had a decent kids menu and pretty standard pub menu. What really shined for me was their lemongrass ale! Wow, I gulped this down within 5 minutes it was so refreshing and yummy. I think they make around 5 other beers too but you must try this one, it's up there with Shocktop and Lost Coast Tangerine Wheat.

The food was nothing to write home about. I ordered a soft pretzel for the kid, a crabcake sandwich for myself, and my husband ordered the portebello press. Nothing bad. Nothing great. Inside, it kind of looks like an old museum and you can visibly see all the brewing stations and inside workings of a brewery so that was pretty cool. Overall, a good place to stop in for a couple beers and beat the heat on a blistering hot summer day.
