BIG fan of Outrigger, especially because there are very little options in Palacios for any decent food!
We've had the blackened shrimp, coconut shrimp, fried oyster po-boy, burgers, fried pickles and more! Mostly everything we've tried was pretty tasty and didn't disappoint us! We were only disappointed by the Balboa dip (shrimp & avocado). It was pre-packaged, mushy avocado with tiny shrimp pieces, and it was bland with no taste. We were expecting more of a ceviche type dip which would have been much more tastier, and fresh gulf shrimp was a given, but that was not evident in the dip! :(
Otherwise, we were overall satisfied and impressed. It was SO much better than the mexican restaurant or dairy queen...
This place may not look like much from the outside but being from New Braunfels I thought I was in a side room at Gruene Hall once inside so we loved the nostalgia. The fried shrimp was some of the best I've had in many years. You could tell it is truly fresh. Â I found out later the restaurant has its own shrimping boat. I also had the salad which was very fresh and good (no cheap iceberg lettuce) and topped off our meal with their homemade chocolate pie for desert. Â Wait staff was also very friendly and prices are in line for fresh fish on the coast.
Review Source:Cute, quaint little restaurant in Palacios. Â They have an outdoor seating area, but it was too windy Saturday night to enjoy. Â We came here on a Saturday to listen to some live music and drink some beers. Â Each bottled beer we ordered was brought out with a frosty mug, which is a plus plus plus in my book. We decided to order some appetizers since we already ate before coming and I highly recommend the fried pickles and hushpuppies. Â Yummy! Â I saw the plates being delivered to the other tables and they looked good too. Â Will definitely try some fried shrimp next time I'm in town!
