We went there last Saturday night with a party of 15(!), several out-of-state friends and relatives among us. Jenny was our server on a very busy night. Service was outstanding; drink orders promptly and accurately filled, refills kept coming (where appropriate). While most everyone had something different, Jenny got the orders all to the right person and promptly. Food was prepared well and everyone was very happy with their meal. Jenny and Joe, co-owner, checked to make sure that everything was right, which it was. Good value for the money, too. I'm sure that we'll all be back.

Third time there, food was great (portions maybe a bit small) drinks were great. Atmosphere was great and service was great. This is a nice gem and a great alternative to the other restaurants in Canton.  Also it turns into a fun bar with live music or comedy after dinner.

The service was great and the food was good.  I ordered a drink with blueberries - a bit too sweet.  The shepards pie was excellent and the black bean burger was delicious.  We have family who are moving to the area this summer.  We will be back.

    Update:

Owner reached out to me via email and asked that I try it again as they are trying to make improvements.  I will make my way over at some point, but it does appear that they at least care about the customer.

Still think they need to give Patak's meat market a call over in Austell a call though.  Hopefully that took place.

I will admit there has been a leaning curve at The Painted Pig. However, the new owners have made an incredible investment in our Historic Downtown and as of yesterday seem to be doing an awesome job. Joe and Nick took over a failing restaurant with okay service (except for Vicki) and mediocre food and terrible atmosphere.

The atmosphere was the first major improvement! Wow! The place looks incredible.

Then, they hired an actual chef to create a new menu. Also, new servers...new hours (get all the new?)

Anyway, I have been there more times than I can count and I have had some great experiences and some not so great ones.

But, the point is, each time we have gone it has gotten better. The Sunday Brunch was awesome this past week. Omelettes cooked to order, fresh fruit, yummy cheese grits, awesome service and music. Oh and might I mention, the best Bloody Mary in town.

All restaurants hit "bumps" and have bad food and service sometimes and particularly during the infant stages.

I think they have reached the other side. I would urge you to try them. Beef and chicken pot pie have always been great, or try the pot roast sandwich.

Watch your favorite game with craft beers and bourbon, or play team trivia on Thursdays as they have lots of activities for everyone.

Ask for Vickie or Jenny..and if you have any issues..ask for Nick or Joe... One of them is always there working hard and I know first hand, they are open to suggestions.

They are also filling a vital need for a mid-priced dinner restaurant in downtown Canton. Open till 2am- Tuesday- Sunday as well!

I'm self-employed and have a very favorite client. We go together like peanut butter and jelly. Except they have this one employee that I just can't seem to satisfy. Every time she asks me to do something either there's a breakdown in communication or the most bizarre things go wrong. Somehow, I think I'm replaying this situation every time I go to the Painted PIg Tavern, except that I'm the client and the Painted Pig Tavern is me. My friends like this place - this is my way of telling you to take my review with a grain of salt - but I can't seem to catch a break here. I could never again recommend this place to anyone, because my service experiences have been so horrible.

    THE BAD:

The first time I came here under the new ownership (they were previous Fork & Tavern), it took - I wish I were kidding - one whole hour for everyone in our party to get our drinks. From there, our brunch came out piecemeal. When asked why on earth this happened, one of the new owners told us the trouble was with a building permit. Huh?

Worse, I had brought a friend from out of town, so not only was the service horrible, I was embarrassed and my friend - who I only got to see for a few hours - didn't have a good time.

    Other bad service incidents:

    - I asked a server what types of gins they had. She got a wild-eyed, terrified look on her face and ran away. I never saw her again and instead a competent server, Jenny, replaced her. I'm still not quite sure if she though I asked "What kind of severed hands do you have?" or what.

    - One of my companions asked if they had a certain dessert. The server said they didn't. Five minutes later, the owner came over and offered us THAT dessert.

    - Feeling optimistic after their beautiful renovation (building permit achieved!), I once again tried to bring some friends. This time we were seated at 7:10 and didn't get out of there until 10:30. Not because we ordered a bunch of appetizers, not because we each lingered over our sodas, but because the service was slow and the kitchen was slower. I should have known better. My friends were then late picking their child up from the babysitter.  Once again I felt stupid for trusting the place.

    - Once, after asking for my check, the server disappeared for a good 10 minutes. I truly just wanted to pay. I didn't appreciate being held hostage when all I wanted to do was give somebody - ANBODY - my credit card so I could please, please leave.

    - I ask for "water with lime" every time. Only Great Server Jenny and Great Bartender Vicki have ever gotten this request right. Ripe limes are green. Ripe lemons are yellow.

    THE GOOD (or SO-SO):

    Bar service is always great.

The food is fine. It's regular old English-style (read: bland) pub food, and sometimes a bit misguided. (Ex: Chicken and dumplings have three main ingredients. Chicken. Cream. Dumplings. There are no carrots. There is no gnocchi.)

The renovation downstairs is beautiful and tasteful. I should know - I've spent a lot of time staring at it while I wait for a drink, or food, or a check.

The very definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting the same result. As much as I want to love the Painted Pig, it's time to take my Xanax and stop patronizing this place.
