Sixes Tavern

I went here on a very awkward first date, but I won't let that get in the way of my review.  It was Valentine's Day and I didn't want to go to a place that would be romantic.  He told me it was a "red neck" bar, which I instantly loved.  Let me tell you dear reader, it is NOT  a red neck bar.  The bar area is marble and stone, it has a small area for a band that was not being used.  Maybe I didn't see what he saw, but this is not what I picture when thinking about a red neck bar.  

The menu had far more than bar food.  It all looked good.  I have to admit that I did look at other  yelp reviews and was bit apprehensive about the food.  I chose the steak salad.  It was wonderful.  I asked for medium rare.  The steak was perfectly cooked and well seasoned.  (not overly so, the meat had great flavor and was very tender)  

From what I remember the wine list had plenty of choices and the bartender gave some great suggestions.  Speaking of the bartender, she gave us great service.  Attentive but not over bearing.

NPWH.  This is a great bar with really good food and exceptional service.  I worked with them to host a party and they could not have been more cooperative. I have been happy with everything I have ordered except once the bartender talked me into the cheese sticks.  Unlike most bars that buy them frozen, they bread them in-house which I can appreciate, but they are too big and gushy.  

People who think this place is expensive should get out more.

This is a spot where I often eat lunch with others of my ilk.  I have sampled a wide variety of items on the menu.  I have to say the fish tacos are a bit salty... The sixes sammy is my favorite.
