We stayed at the Pecan House Bed and Breakfast on a Saturday night a couple weeks ago.  The large house is located in the middle of a typical small Texas town neighborhood.  The house is subdivided into different rooms with a common area in the lobby where breakfast, tea, and lunch are served.  Peter owns and operates the house, restaurant, and Rolls Royce limo service with a little hired help (housekeeping, etc).  The house is great with lots of antiques and a cool/funky décor.  Only two rooms have access to the upstairs balcony, the Winsor Suite and the French Room.  My friend and his wife stayed in the Winsor Suite so they had access to the balcony.  These are probably the two best rooms in the house.  The Winsor Suite also has a refrigerator, in-suite bathroom, but only a queen size bed.  We stayed in the Kent Suite, which also had an in-suite bathroom, a king size bed and a huge antique bathtub (along with a shower).  Both bedrooms were very comfortable with nice beds.  Peter was extremely hospitable and could not have been any nicer or helpful.  He has a couple of great dogs, Basil and  Sascha (border collie) hanging around the house which adds to the funky cool vibe of the house.  We were excited about staying within walking distance of downtown Pittsburg, but there was nothing very exciting in the downtown area (not sure what we were expecting).  During the day, we drove out to St. Rose Vineyard and Winery (Pittsburg, TX) and the Red Road Vineyard and Winery (Naples, TX).  They are both worth checking out, but a little tricky to find.  The St. Rose Vineyard winery specialized in muscadine wines which were not especially delicious to my palate.  Back at the B&B, Peter drove us (wearing a chauffeur uniform) in his Rolls Royce to Los Pinos Winery and dropped us off.  This was definitely the best wine, service and ambiance of any vineyard we visited that day.  After a couple hours of hanging out on their patio with great food and live jazz, we called Peter to pick us up in the Rolls.  If you are looking for late night entertainment in Pittsburg, you had better bring it with you.   The after party for us was definitely at the house on the upstairs balcony.  The next morning Peter served a delicious quiche for breakfast with freshly squeezed orange juice.  Overall, the Pecan House B&B was one of a kind and awesome.  It is in the middle of nowhere (my definition anyway), but it's a great destination if you are looking for a break from the city.  Not fancy, but cool and funky.  Ambiance-5 stars, Accomodations-5 stars, Food-5 stars.
