Was so unimpressed!!!! We went for the experience as well as the food and we got neither!! Â The Peddler never came to cut the steaks table side. Three out of four steaks were cooked wrong. One of us ended up not eating a steak at all. We were later told that the Peddler does not come into the room where we were seated. You would think that the hostess would tell you that ahead of time. I would have waited for a table in the main dining room came back another night. The server was rude and had a smart answer for everything. Bad experience!!! If you are ever in Raleigh try the one there. 100 times better than this one!!!
Review Source:Visited The Peddler Steakhouse in Boone with a group from the Appalachian Studies Association. The food was absolutely wonderful. Even more amazingly, the service of the wait staff was beyond wonderful. The servers work as a team to efficiently keep their customers happy. The salad bar offered a wide variety of vegetables and some fruits. The French Onion Soup was lacking a bit. The amount of onions was somewhat low. The only other negative quality I can note is the fact that the establishment itself is small in comparison to the demand of customers. However, I feel that the welcoming atmosphere and temperament of the wait staff made up for any loss of food quality or spatial factor.
Personally, I ordered the signature Peddler Steak and was wholly impressed with the quality. The steak was expertly cooked and definitely worth experiencing again. Overall, I would very highly recommend The Peddler Steakhouse at Boone.
Visited with a group of coworkers while in town for a conference. Â We renewed our bonds as co-workers and friends. Â The service was FANTASTIC, the food was delicious. Â We had reservations and still had a slight wait, but it was so worth it. Â The place was packed, but the staff was friendly and attentive in spite of it. Â
The salad bar was small, but held delightful surprises such as caviar, brie, and palm heart. Â We had artichoke dip for appetizers, a variety of steak and ahi tuna made its way to the table. Â Everyone left the table satisfied! Â
Highly recommend it to any and all - - - plan on spending extra time and enjoying the dinner and conversation!
My wife, daughter, brother-in-law and myself ate dinner here on the 20th of Jan. 2013. This was our first visit and I have to say it was great! They had a decent crowd and service was above par. The steaks, chicken and salad bar was spot on regarding taste and overall quality. All-in-all, I would recommend this restaurant to my family and friends!
Review Source:Peddler is my favorite restaurant in the Blowing Rock area. They have a good salad bar; lots of variety and fresh ingredients. I get the Rib Eye and Lobster Tail. They cut the steak for you at the table, then take it back to the kitchen and cook it. Lobster is served with drawn butter over a candle to keep it warm.
Peddler serves great food, with consistency, at a reasonable price. I enjoy eating there.
I enjoyed this throwback to the 70sor80s...the Peddler comes with a cart to cut your ribeye to order! Great salad bar with smoked oysters and caviar. My ribeye was cooked properly and wife's prime rib was tender and tasty. If you want a menu that is trendy and artsy, don't come, but for a solid steak this is it.
Review Source:I was expecting a very formal steakhouse but upon entering I found a blast from the past. Â This place is still doing things the way steakhouses did them in 1982. Â Cold self-serve salad bar complete with imitation crab, etc. Â Soup bar filled with "French onion soup" AKA... Beef broth. Â Menu raved about their cuts of meat but everything was far too overpriced. Â They even have a man rolling around a cart, allowing you to choose your cut of beef. Â Disgusting (raw beef being rolled around for hours).
Typical tourist location.
Great little steak house! The prices are very reasonable for the quality of food you receive. Â If you're a student, look for 20% coupons, and it wont be expensive at all. Â Their french onion soup is great, and their salad bar is absolutely divine, with choices that range from your run of the mill fixings to smoked oysters and pickled okra.
Review Source:Went to this place because our front desk hotel guy reccomended it. He said it was a bit pricey but worth it. And it was. The food was really good here. My husband and I shared a steak and some salad. The salad bar was open and had many selections to choose from. The steak, they cut in front of you and it was very tender. The service to me was superb and the mints in the end were delish!
Review Source:I went to The Peddler on a Tuesday night and was seated right away. Service was great as three different people were involved in my seating/waitressing service. The salad bar was a mixed salad with not just iceberg lettuce, but also some baby spinach and romaine. They had fresh cubes of swiss cheese and a giant block of blue cheese to top off your salad and of course the usual mix of salad dressings. The onion soup....well I don't go to a steakhouse for the soup. The steaks are cut in front of you fresh off of a rib eye roast and are generally about 10oz so bring your appetite! They do cook to order and this is the part they got exactly right! Usually a medium rare at most places is either too rare, or well done, I was glad to see a place get it right. I would say the best steak in 2010 award goes to The Peddler.
Review Source:My boyfriend and I stopped here for a weekday dinner because our hotel was just across the street. The salad bar was fantastic with its multitude of choices from different leafy veggies to toppings. I was not impressed with the french onion soup as it was overly salted and tasted nothing like a french onion soup. The steak was good but for those of you with smaller appetite like me it might be wise to just get a steak to share and the other person just pay the base price for using the salad bar. Service was very good.
Review Source:It was a long wait even with reservations before we were seated. Â This place used to be better. Â I would not say this restaurant is any better than your local Outback or Longhorn as far as how the steak tastes.
I think with the competition in the last 15 years, this restaurant chain has lost its niche.
I don't know if I was just starving by the time we finally got seated or if I actually liked it better this year. My NY strip was flippin awesome. The salad bar was still yummy and offered all the fixin's for an excellent salad experience!
I just wish the wait wouldn't be soooo long.. They should invest in a remodel with more dinning space. We arrived at 6 and still had an hour and 50 minute wait, when we were told it would be a 45 min wait. I guess if you don't want to wait, you should get there when they open at 4 or 5 or whenever it is.
I will happily return on our next mountain get-a-way.. but I will remember to use "call ahead" seating.......
