Not the best Mexican food. It can be pretty bland and straight forward-- don't be expecting anything special here. But, it has been a staple of Chowchilla for as long as I remember... The food itself could be better, but the service has always been good & friendly-- often they have no problem making substitutions or special requests. There is a nostalgia factor that comes with the establishment as I can remember coming here with family for as long as I remember.
When it comes to Mexican food, I have had much better. And, I have definitely had much worse! Pedro's stands the middle ground and I can say that if I am to go out and eat in this town, this one does pass the test in comparison to other restaurant offerings in the area.
I have been coming to this restaurant for the better part of twenty years and I still love it. Â This is no frills, simple Mexican food, with good flavor and that is what most people have come to admire about Pedro's. Â I have tried just about everything on the menu, but I will only highlight a few. Â I always enjoy the chips and salsa (both made in house) when I go, while the salsa is off putting for some due to it being blended and not chunky, I think it is very tasty. Â The tamales are very good and have a good ratio of masa and meat. Â The sauce that covers the tamales and enchiladas is also very good, it is not bitter or have a strong tomato flavor like so many others I have tried. Â One of my favorite dishes is the Chile Colorado, it always has a great flavor, spice and is very tender. Â I have also had the tacos and to liken them to Taco Bell is a gross misstatement. Â Just about everything is made in house and has a fresh taste. Â The staff is also very friendly and I have never had a bad experience with the service. Â Overall, this place serves quality Mexican food at a great price.
