Great music venue. Spacious. Great venue to see a rock show. They don't always allow you to wear your jacket in, will make you check it, so just be prepared. still love it though. they are awesome. we haven't at there yet so not sure about the food but we will try that next time. They did allow us to take something back out to the car and come back in so I thought that was pretty cool. You can usually meet & greet the bands inside, if not, the buses are parked outside and usually welcome fans. Love it!
Review Source:Restaurant Review Only--Owner & Management need to take a look at their employee training program!!
The food & overall price was probably a 3--okay steak, great baked potatoes & crab cakes, but the service was a 1. The waiter was unfamiliar with the wines served (there was no wine list), he left multiple times to ask questions when we asked about menu items & returned with wrong or incomplete answers, he didn't know how the internet special worked, he had to leave to get a pen when we finally ordered, and he messed up our cash and debit payments after we explained two different times how we were paying. Â When we asked if he was new or normally worked somewhere else, he said, no, he just wasn't a very good waiter. Â At least he made us laugh!
I had a nice dinner at the bar. Â The service was a little slow, so they added another server (kudos for paying attention!) and things improved. Â I then saw Buckcherry in the venue. Â A very comfortable space with a bar, tables, stools or you can stand in the center of the room. Â If there's a band you'd like to see and they are playing here, I would HIGHLY recommend it. Â One suggestion: Â I was offered a drink by a cocktail waitress once (and ordered, and got a beer) but didn't see anyone else for the rest of the evening. Â If there were more, it would cut down on bar lines and increase receipts. Â Great place. Â Eager to see who is next on the bill.
Oh...I'm a New Yorker (the city...a real New Yorker) and I was impressed.
I haven't lived in Lynchburg for years so I didn't know if this place was "cool" or not. We were meeting friends we hadn't seen in a long time for drinks. Boy did we pick the wrong place! There was a band playing and it was so loud I could not even talk to my husband who was sitting right next to me, much less the girl across from me. I have no idea why it was so ungodly loud but it was ridiculous. Overkill. There weren't many people there, but then again it was only 9:30. The people that were there were mostly 40+ and two lone line dancers were the only ones on the dance floor. Oh and cover was $8. It's funny to me that any where in Lynchburg charges cover! I don't mind paying it but it was definitely a waste. Of time, too. It does look much better in there, very different than when it was Cattle Annie's.
Review Source:These three stars belong to the bartender and the two people we met there that made the night somewhat fun. Apparently this place is fun on Fridays but of course we were only in town Saturday and Sunday night. Country music for an hour and a half followed by 45 min of what I think was supposed to be top 40 but was really music that came out literally 10 years ago. Not complaining, I knew where I was when I left my hotel room.
Review Source:Went on country night on a Saturday night. Â Cover was $8. Â They said they had 200 people in there, but it looks to be only 100. Â Staff was friendly as mentioned before. Â They had a live band there and they were okay, even though I'm not really that big into country. Â Its sad that this is the only dance place Lynchburg has to offer. Â The only other real lively place was The Neighbor's Place. Â TGIF was busy on Sat. night as well, but appeared to be the hangout spot for the African Americans in town, which is not a problem, but not my scene.
They have a dress code to have shirts tucked in, but it didn't seem to be enforced inside, which is fine by me. Â They're the only establishment I've ever been in that required that. Â Mix of old and young people, but it appears that a lot of people don't know how to dance and its obvious when you sit and watch people on the dance floor for a few minutes on songs you don't know.
They had a liquor bar and 2 other bars, but I only got a beer from the bar by the entrance, which only served bottled beers. Â $4/bottle...definitely a ripoff considering the cover, but to some, the cover would be just for the entertainment provided by the dance floor and the band.
I feel bad for Lynchburg as this is the closest thing to any sort of dance club they have.
I'd really like to rate this place one star, but I can only rate this place based on it's local competition or lack thereof. If you dropped this club in any medium sized city it would never survive. For lil' ole Lynchburg this is a 4 star establishment as far as entertainment goes. Â You can catch some "B" and "C" level national bands or even a rare "A" level country act.
Friday night is usually top 40 and Saturday is country music. Â Both nights can get busy, and you can count on a crowd of a few hundred.
Do some research on the dress code before you go. Â I really dislike some ogre looking bouncer telling me to tuck my shirt tale in, but they don't make a secret of the dress regulations.
Okay, if you're going to have renovations going on, which decrease your crowd, you do NOT keep your cover the same or increase it, Â You DECREASE the cover. Â You're doing the renovating. Â That's out of your pockets. Â Not ours. Â Not yet. Â Raise covers accordingly when you're finished with them.
Other than that, I like(d) the place.
Edit to add: Â CHANGE YOUR DJ. Â He is AWFUL. Â Seriously -the- worst DJ I've ever seen/heard. Â Everyone around me agreed. Â Just truly terrible. Â Down from three stars, because I can't get away from the DJ.
Edit to add: Â Changing this to one star, due to your comment below AS WELL AS your comment to the other person who rated you low. Â Keep maintaining good customer service. Â I'm originally from Roanoke by the way, so thanks for the assumptions as well. Â :) Â Hope you have a lovely day.
Cattle Annies appears to be the only alternative for mid-scale nightlife in Lynchburg. Â It is very fitting that it is primarily a country venue, but they have classic rock band and top 40 nights as well. Â A large club area is complimented by a looong, skinny restaurant.
We went on Saturday Night after exploring several different smaller more metropolitan locales around town. Â We were greeted with a friendly staff and a $15 cover charge for a special event. Â They have three bar areas, plenty of seating and a dance floor that is easily 50x50. Â The crowd was a reasonable mix of young and old, although I'm told Friday is where the younger crowd typically congregates. Â We didn't see any fights or disruptions during our 2+ hour visit.
The stage is big, they have a good compliment of lights, and the sound system is pretty impressive (even for those who have been to some big rock shows). Â Decor is a mix of beer propaganda, sponsored signs, and wood paneling - typical, but not unique or interesting in any way.
On this particular night, the headliner was Cowboy Troy - a 6'5" guy who fuses rap and country. Â I can honestly say that this definitely makes the top 10 list of weird things I have ever seen. Â Not bad - just weird - although I would have expected to see something unique like this in a bigger city.
If you like to dance and have a few beers, Cattle Annie's could very well be your only alternative in the area. Â Not bad, not great, but at least it is here if you need it.
