We decided to give them another try because last time we thought that maybe the food was lackluster because of the late hour. Â Nope the food was lackluster because it was well - lackluster.
My husband ordered the perch dinner - it looked like the frozen prepared variety because the pieces were just too perfect. Â There was no flavor, not even in the breading. Â He ate it but was not impressed.
I ordered the cheese ravioli with marinara and sauteed mushrooms. Â Not bad, not good. Â The pasta was undercooked but the sauce was decent.
We both had the house dressing on our salads, a little too much oil and lack of seasoning for our tastes but the bread they served with it was delicious.
The only reason they are getting 3 stars is that the service was outstanding, our server was attentive without being intrusive. Â Just the right amount of friendly and very efficient.
We most likely won't be back. Â Kind of sad because they have been there for so long and there really aren't any decent Italian Restaurants as close to home.
This is our go-to place for pizza in the northern Downriver area. Â Love their Meat-eaters pizza. Â Service is usually okay (I say usually as my last visit on 5/18/2013 was SLOW, the waitress was really beat and didn't care) and other items on the menu are nice.
That said - how hard is it to take cheese filled tortelini's, saute them in butter and serve with garlic? Â I didn't want oil - sauteed with garlic and butter, like scampi (which is on the menu and very nice). Â Nope. Â Not sauteed. Â Boiled and served with oil and raw garlic. Â For dinner on Sunday, I sauteed the oil, garlic and pasta and it was what I wanted the day before.
Alas, I need a new Italian place and will reserve Pia's for the pizaa dinners.
The food is great.  Fantastic pizza, great pasta and awesome homemade sauce.  Great Antipasto and house dressing.  The only downside to this place has got to be the service.  It doesn't matter if we go there for lunch (we are right down the street) or lunch/dinner on the weekend, we  have never once had decent service. Â
The waitresses hardly ever smile, or greet you. Â The service is deathly slow and you are lucky if you get your water re-filled. Â It's such a shame that they can't get better servers. Â The food is excellent and it's a shame to throw crappy service on top of it.
Desserts are really good. Â Cannolis are awesome and Tiramisu is also very good here. Â Lunch menu is great and you can get salads or 1/2 orders of the pasta. Â Meatballs are homemade and very good as well. Â
We go here about 2-3 times a month for work lunches and unfortunately are always late getting back due to the horrible service. Â It seems like the staff has just checked out. Â A shame.... Â We'd spend a lot more money here.
