This is the go to spot when we're in Florida visiting family. Â The staff is super friendly, portion size is awesome and food is yummy in my tummy!
I usually get the fish and chips when there and it is always a winner. Â
Their cole slaw is amazing! Â
We take the whole family here and they never bat an eye at a 8 - 10 top of folks all with different orders.
There is dining outside, which is awesome to be able to do in late December. Â We really enjoy that. Â
You can never go wrong at Pinchers; with just a casual night out for two, or a meal for 12- they do it up right!
Really great staff. Â More than attentive, they ANTICIPATE. Â Wow, what a luxury around these parts!
The side of fresh green beans was superb. Â Bright green, long string beans looking like they paused just long enough in the steamer on their way to the table from a garden.
Great prices for fish too. Grouper today was only $9.96. Â Pincher's regularly runs coupons in the Loose Press , err I mean Ft Myers News Press, in case you are one to plan ahead.
We came in to Pincers at about 10:20 at night, exhausted and hungry after travelling all day (AirTran is inexpensive but they only feed you a small bag of pretzels on their flights.)
They were uncrowded by this time and so we were very well attended to. It was 2-for-1 draft beer night, so we both wound up with a couple of mugs Yuengling of beer. For dinner we ordered salads and soups. I got the seafood corn chowder. It was brilliant, creamy and spicy and good. We shared a calamari, and for dinner got the jumbo crab claws. They were served cold, three in the serving, with drawn butter. Tools -- crackers, picks and a little wooden hammer hammer, too.
They were very good, and required only a little work to free the delicious meat. Great food, great service, fun atmosphere. Highly recommend!
Stopped here randomly on my way up the Florida coast. We were craving seafood. Our waitress was very friendly and offered her advice on food. We split the friend shrimp combo meal. It was interesting to see that the restaurant doubles as a seafood market. The shrimp was very tasty an so were the fresh cut fries. The ones dipped in buffalo were okay. The buffalo wasn't exactly what I was use too. It was semi sweet and not too spicy. Either way I was very happy with the food and service!
Review Source:I'll start by saying I wasn't expecting a lot from a local seafood chain.
And I'll continue by saying - EXPECTATIONS BEDAMNED!
Going off the suggestion from the just-talkative-enough waitress, I went with the fried soft shell crab.
I'd never had a soft shell crab before, but I got the idea. Â It's so soft that, well, you can eat the whole damn thing.
Do you know what that MEANS?
It means the only annoying part of eating a crab (aka, breaking shit and cutting yourself) was virtually eliminated.
There's no way to describe the immense joy I took in dipping an entirely fried soft crab into a cajun dip and biting into it wherever the hell I pleased with impunity.
Claw? YOMP!
Pincer? CRUNCH!
Entire Stomach? WHY NOT!
If I have enough time here, I'll go back to try more things.
But, I'd be OK if this was my only experience at Pincher's
My husband and I love this particular Pincher's. We have eaten at the one directly on Fort Myers Beach, the one just before the beach with views of the bay, and the one in North Fort Myers with views of the river, but none of those stand up to this location. It is placed in the corner of a strip mall off McGregor--go figure the one that offers views of a parking lot delivers better than the other fancy pants locations.
The raw oysters here are always fantastic! They have a great happy hour specials too! If you go between 3-6 oysters, shrimp, and wings are 50 cents a piece. That is right, a dozen raw for $6.00. Drink specials are good too. It is always 2-4-1 beer & wine, and at the bar they do a pint of tap for 1.87--random, but what a bargain. The Iced-tea is 2.50.
The crabs here have been great too. My nieces are huge fans of the blue crab claws in garlic Parmesan butter. Every time they visit they ask to go. The fish sandwiches are very good, and come with choice of 2 sides (slaw, hand-cut fries, baked beans, and steamed green beans). All are very good. They used to have smoked fish spread on the menu, but now they only have it as a special (if you are lucky). It is SOOOOOO good. We were so sad when took it off the menu, since we ordered it every time we visited. We finally got some on special last night. We ate half and took the rest home in a filled pint sized container. The cost 5.99.
My one dislike was the crab-cheese dip. It is horrid! Â I would recommend they take that off the menu and put the smoked fish dip back on. On a positive note, we have always had good service whenever we have visited.
I was in the area for a wedding and came here randomly for lunch. Â The building is large and has an open air feel. It's nicely decorated and has a large bar near the entrance. The staff was friendly. I should have asked what the special was or what's good here because I randomly ordered the crab and corn soup and oysters with bacon, spinach, and cheese, - sounded good enough, right? verdict, meehhh. Crab was too pureed and gave no texture to the soup. It must not be oyster season because the oyster were small, which were about 6 pieces. The presentation seemed nice enough, but I guess my taste palette just wasn't agreeing with the dish. I tasted the cheese and bacon more than the oyster :(
I will come back and give this place another try the next time I'm in town. Here's to better luck next time!
Came from Maryland to look for good crabs after having some ok ones back home early in the season. Â When we arrived, we were told that no blueclaw crabs were available. Â We immediately pointed to the two for sale out front, which were told they were for display... not sure about that. Â Anyway, they came up with some crab clusters which were really really excellent. Â They were meaty, fresh, cooked right and consist of one size...jumbo. Â Â We were happy.
