Ack! What happened to the Pink House?!? I'm not a regular by any means (I stop in about once a year when I'm at my mom's nearby fishing cabin), but this used to be my go-to dive bar when I'm in the area. Last week, I hosted a few friends at the cabin and got them all pumped up for a visit to the Pink House. I thought we would be greeted by one of the Midwestern lady bartenders I've seen at the Pink House every time. Y'know, the type of lady who has probably been a career bartender since the '70s and still kind of resembles Farrah Fawcett or Jaclyn Smith, the kind who is all business, no bull$h!t, but nice enough...and very efficient. Nope, our bar wench recognized that we "aren't from 'round these parts" and did her best to make sure we didn't get too comfortable on our bar stools.
All of us ordered Miller Lite bottles (hard to mess up, right?), except for one brave soul who went out on a limb and ordered a can of Coors Banquet. "Coors Light?" she said. "No, Coors Banquet. Regular Coors." Instead of asking for further clarification, she popped open a can of Coors Light for him. Oh well.
Then we asked about the ski shot we saw at the corner of the bar. Asking how frequently people ordered ski shots in the middle of Illinois seemed like a legit question, but she got really irritated. Immediately she grabbed a bottle of Jaeger and started pouring. "I guess you want to try a shot?" No, we just wanted to know how often people do ski shots here. Too late, we were going to do a shot no matter what.
Then I asked if they still serve breakfast on the weekends. "Breakfast?!? We've never served breakfast here." Nevermind the half dozen times I've enjoyed a glorious, greasy hangover breakfast at the Pink House over the years. I guess I just made that up.
Then my husband retreated to the video poker machine and played a few rounds of Texas Hold 'em. There was further confusion when he tried to redeem his $2 winning coupon at the bar, so he gave up and used it to order another beer. It's unclear why the employee didn't know how to turn his poker receipt into cash, but at this point we weren't questioning anything else.
We had reached our limit when the live "band" played the same Jimmy Buffet song twice in a row. Ugh. Next time I'm going to the Little Nugget.

Well we had the fried  fish with fries and baked beans yesterday ,it was good.
The Bartender (she)did not ask us if we would like to see the menu ,we knew what we want it because I order there sometimes for lunch /takeout but if you don 't know what they serve ,
I guess you would have to ask them what they got or ask for the menu.
Are draft beer was very good .It was sweating are beer so all the water was running around on the table .I guess they try to save on napkins or coasters.
The place was pretty clean for a bar, a little on the hot site but not bad.
We been ask if we are doing ok!
