Pizza Plus of Atkins

Some friends and I made a cross-country trip from Phoenix, AZ to Washington, DC, and stopped at Pizza Plus on our last day of travel. We took the pizza to go and ate it in the car (right out of the box... Seriously, at this point were were on a mission). It was ready fast - maybe 10 minutes. Pizza was yummy, and just what I want from pizza. Nothing fancy, but tasty, hot, and filling.

This is the part I'm embarrassed to admit.

I left my purse in the restaurant. And Marion is a good 5 hours from where we were staying - a near impossible trip to make given my flight back. I still had my wallet... so all was not lost.

This is the part I'm still amazed by.

I called the joint, and the owner MAILED my purse TO MY HOME ADDRESS on good faith that I'd send him money to cover shipping. And I am one of those women with huge, heavy purses. It's likely that there was actually a rock in it at the time.

That really happened.

The pizza was like a 3.5-4 star, but that was an unbelievable experience that I still think of when I need my faith in humanity restored. Businesses like this deserve 5 stars.

While staying in the Marion area we decided to have some local pizza and went to Pizza Plus to give them a  try, which was new since our last visit in the area. Honesty, it wasn't hard to choose, since Marion only has 4 pizza choices and two are chains.

My brother and I got our typical large Pep and felt it was pretty good and reminded us of old Domino's hand toss or Fox's Den Pizza. For eating in, the pizza wasn't blazing hot either, which was strange.

Pizza aside, Pizza Plus is in an old Burger King and while that itself wasn't a problem, the lack of heat in the building was. Even the people making the pizzas were wearing coats! The thermostat was set to 64 degrees, which is flat out crazy when it's 42 outside.

Not a bad alternative to Pizza Hut or Little Cesear's pizza, which you can get anywhere.
