Boo. Took 39 minutes to get our food and it was cold. Waitress had an attitude and told us to tell the manager. Manager said they were too busy. Well, if you can't handle serving a full restaurant, then maybe you need more staff or you have too big of a restaurant. It wasn't completely full. Hamburger was dry. Chicken Parm sandwich was good if it'd still been warm. I do love their fried potato salad, but I doubt I'll ever go back.
Review Source:My wife and I was out car shopping and decided to come here to eat while the dealer put our paperwork together. I must say I have driven by the place for years and never stopped in. I could kick myself for that.
The food was fresh, hot and fast. The wife had a Gyro salad and I went with the blue cheeseburger. The fries was seasoned perfect and the burger was cooked as ordered.
The portion sizes are plenty, we had to split a dessert (Tiramisu) because we were so full. The Tiramisu was very rich and moist.
Friendly service, our server came back several times to check on us.
Players, you now have a new customer that will return again and again.
If you stick to wells or their specialty cocktails, you'll get a decent drink. If you order a different cocktail, you're really taking your chances. (My gimlet was mostly sweet and sour mix.) Service was friendly and smooth about remaking my drink though she was a bit overzealous about checking if we needed another.
Review Source:Player's has been around for a long time and is locally famous. It has some very strong options. The owner is Greek so the menu is Greek-themed, with gyros, Saganaki (melted cheese appetizer), Spanakopita, and Greek salad- but most people go to Players for steak. They have a variety of good steaks.
Player's biggest downfall is the service, by far. There seems to never be a hostess at the front of house, so you usually wait for a server to catch your eye and come seat you. Recently we went to dinner there, and there was a group waiting in the lobby. We saw several empty booths but a hostess took 10 minutes to come speak to us, only to tell us that she would be back soon. Five to ten minutes later, no hostess in sight, I became so frustrated that we left.
Players isn't bad, but they should hire more servers/hostesses! If you do go, get the fried potato salad- it's really good!
Our last visit was a lot better... we sat at the bar, were well-attended to, and had a delicious steak. Â The bar side definitely has more of the noisy, friendly sports-bar vibe (as opposed to the more sedate dining room side) -- lots of TVs tuned to a variety of sports channels. Â The bartender cheerfully turned the nearest set to the golf channel for us, much to the chagrin of the college boys behind us, who didn't quite have the gumption to ask her to go back to the X-Games. Â Age has its privileges, boys. Â Drinks were relatively inexpensive and the service was much improved.
Review Source:Once I was advised by a friend to never go to a restaurant where you walk in and see only one or two servers. This was just one of those times I should have listened, to add insult to injury, our server was also the hostess so she was stretched completely thin. It was 1:30-2 in the afternoon but the place was still completely busy with the post-church crowd.
The decor, as well as the menu, is conflicted. What I mean is, you have a low down sports bar feel with the name and location but you also have french and italian posters and faux finished black granite tables and savvy light fixtures. Where's the heart and what is the theme exactly?
There is no physical evidence in the decor or name, but there is a large claim to Greek food on the menu which was exciting for me as an out-of-towner from a bigger city. But I soon came to find out that none of it was authentic at all. The Tzatziki sauce I'm pretty sure was mayo with dill in it, instead of the actual recipe which key ingredients include cucumber, fresh garlic, and yogurt. The pita from the Gyro was fried in old oil which gave me a stomach ache and left a bad taste in my throat. Maybe because they didnt wipe the grill? Who knows, it was gross. In closing don't trust a place to have good Greek food if they also feature a Taco salad. Because you wont get dedication to good food in ether case.
Players is nestled where most of the hotels are in Warrensburg. It's right up against the highway, so it's not hard to miss. When I first went to Players, it was mainly for the bar. They serve a variety of drinks, and are even willing to get creative with them. They're also really cheap!
My husband and I got a good buzz with about $50 in a variety of drinks. We have also been to dinner there many many times, and all their food is top notch. I really love their food, it has a twist a Mediterranean and one of the appetizers you MUST TRY is the cheese. It's simply to die for!
The only awkward experience, was during a late-night visit. The bar was full (I think there was a game that night), and it was filled with rowdy older gentlemen. We decided to take the quieter side of the restaurant, and have our drinks there. We ordered our drinks, and the first mistake of the night by the waitress made the rest of the evening unbearable.
We ordered two Mud Slides each, and for some reason the woman thought we had ordered a Mud Slide and a Bud Light? When she arrived with the opened bottle, we told her she got the order wrong and she ARGUED that my husband ordered a beer - when he doesn't even drink beer! After a few minutes of telling her she didn't listen, she stomped off and brought the mud slide.
We went the rest of the evening, ordering a variety of drinks, until she eventually tried to convince us to go to the bar - which was still full and noisy. Eventually she referred to our drinks as "froo froo drinks" and proceeded her ill-mannered and rude disposition towards us.
To say the least, we left annoyed at the woman's attitude, and left no tip for souring our evening.
Overall, great place for drinks and an occasional dinner. I'd recommend going at least once or twice; as long as you don't get Mrs. Froo Froo!
Don't let the name fool you - this is not a strip club! (Though I was wary at first...) I really don't know much about this place, but according to the little bit of info on the menu it's apparently been around for 30 years or so (but moved locations, I believe). I'm always a little disappointed when I go to other states that haven't banned smoking in restaurants and I forgot where I was, so I stupidly went and sat at the bar. I'm pretty sure I'll have lung cancer after this week.
The menu here, while pretty varied, has a surprising Greek influence. (Again - strange at a place named Players!) I decided to buck the trend and order a taco salad. The salad was delish, complete with fresh chips. If I had any complaint about the food itself, I would say that the salad needs more chips! They were tasy, but not plentiful. Service was great, although I made the poor girl run a couple of times to get extra chips and salsa.
