Came from San Antonio to try this place out and heard nothing but good things and have to say I really enjoyed the wings from here. Â Much better than Wing Stop and Buffalo Wild Wings imo. Â My wife who also is very picky loved the boneless wings. Â One thing I recommend for an app is the Holy Macarroni, it was amazing. Â We will def be back.
Review Source:There are better choices for wing joints. Â Though the variety of sauces is impressive, the wings are always overcooked here. Â The prices are outrageous for what you get, probably one of the biggest rip-offs as far as casual eateries go. Â The beer never really seems to be cold, rather it's always cool. Â Look elsewhere, this place is unimpressive.
Review Source:its a sports bar that serves wings, good wings. Their appetizers are great I would recommend the Holy Macarroni which is fried macaroni (taste better than it sounds) and make sure to dip it in the glaze they give you. Â Ig you like spicy but not to spicy I would check out the spicy lemony pepper wings which i a blend between traditional lemon pepper and a wing sauce. Drink wise they have a good selection of beer and their in house drinks are pretty good especially the psychedelic frog. So if you are in the mood for wings or a burger give them a shot.
Review Source:Wings were awesome. Manager Chris holland couldn't manage a roach coach. Â Manager was rude and not prepared for a large crowd. Â Now will have to drive the extra 30 minutes to have plucker's in Austin or just go to hooters. Â I don't think the founders of plucker's had this kind of treatment of customers in mind. Â Manager left a bad impression of the restaurant for me and many of the patrons around me.
Review Source:Stopped in on our "date night" with no kids for the first time. Â Now I will tell you that I'm a huge BW3 fan, however thought I would try a more local place. Â
The Service by Jessica Black (if that was really her last name) was Exceptional! Â She listened to our "likes" and made some fabulous recommendations!
Fried Pickles were oh, so yummy!
We went with the 20 all Flates..top sauces..."Bakers Gold" YUMMY! Â Then the Lemon Pepper seasoning on the wings dipped in the sauce was a recommendation that we will get again!
We opted for the patio seating and the 1st to venture outside on a hot Friday night! Â I will say, that the management needs to do something about the Patio Atmosphere! Â Inside, the sound was great, fun and exciting. Â However outside, the poor sound system had us turn on the music from our personal phones. Â Really? Â TONS of TV's and a large patio w/ a poor quality sound system? Â HUGE Oversight.
Unfortunately, our friendly Jessica Black is moving to NW Austin so we will miss her in San Marcos but wish her well.
We will likely venture to Pluckers again, but would be more frequent if they had a better quality patio!
So much bigger than South Lamar location. I can breathe in here!! Hands down the biggest Pluckers that I've been to. Since San Marcos is a college town, it tends to get overcrowded with loud, abnoxious frat guys during football season & game nights. But other than that, I've never had any reasons to complain about the staff & service here.
Since I am based in Kyle, if I am in the mood for Pluckers specifically I would much rather come here instead of the South Lamar location.
I only came this way to inspect a friends work for what he call's "unusual and unexplained" occurrences which I did not sense were there, well one thingy. Â No big deal. He told me to try Pluckers and now I am hooked.
Dr. Pepper wing Sauce?  YES YOU CAN.  I miss the sauce at Bikini's, they stopped making it.  But Pluckers did more than make up for that loss.  The location appears to be a re-purposed Red Robin's.  And it was done greatly.  Enter through the side gave it more of a local feel than the chain feel.  Staff at front were very pleasant and kind.  Was sat quickly, my server was more than helpful and and as soon that I noticed Dr.P. sauce, I was a happy camper.  Ordered 12 I think, been a moment since I was there, with the bacon mac-n-cheese. Â
The wing's had excellent flavor, covered in what can only be described as the GOOD MEDICINE in my book.  Not too much sauce, but just right, laid out on a pizza pan.  The Mac-n-cheese; however it is good, but needs some more for a bit of the wow factor.  Big mug of Sweet Tea and this man was happy.
I ordered some wings with Spicy Ranch and surprised my buddy back at his business as a big thank you for telling me about this place.  I am very much in love with Pluckers....
Tell em Touchet sent ya. Â
Oh, Just an FYI, happy to have discovered that Pluckers started in Austin... Yeah Texas..
The customer service to me was actually good the night I went. The waiter was very nice and offered complementary fried mushrooms or pickles for it being our first time to pluckers. He was very friendly and serviced us good. I would give more stars but I wasn't too keen on the actual wings for some reason they seemed to lack meat and were a little dry. other than that everything else was great.
Review Source:Service is SOOOO SLOW!!! Even when the place is pretty empty, I just don't get it...?? I can understand that food takes time to cook, but do they cook their drinks too??? Geez Louise...took more than 15 minutes to get 2 waters & an iced tea!! And we were only 1 of 5 tables in the entire seating area!
I do Not recommend this wings joint unless you have a ton of time to kill... Obviously they love to take their sweet time instead of offering decent customer service.
PLUS, food was so-so! What's the deal Pluckers??? Next time it's Wing Stop here I come!
A customer service Nightmare!
This location has always been a 'you are one of the masses' type place, but recently they have taken it to a whole new level.
"Welcome to Pluckers San Marcos, where the customer is our burden"
Highly Not Recommended, which is a shame cause I do crave some wings on occasion.
Try The RailYard, TapRoom, or Sean Patricks for similar atmosphere and service times 10.
I knew there was a reason I did not care for this place. I went during lunch. It was almost 1pm and we had to wait for over 10 minutes to be seated. I saw at least 3 tables that were empty.
We ordered off the lunch special menu. There were a few limited choices. I opted for a chicken sandwich in my wing sauce of choice. Â Our food took entirely too long to get to the table. Our server never came back to refill our drinks. She took our order and our food was brought by another server. When she did come back I asked for honey mustard. When I got the bill, she had charged me $.50 for it. When I normally ask for honey mustard, the other restaurants NEVER charge. When I asked the server about it, she replied, "She made me do it." Who MADE you do it? Your manager? If so, your manager and I need to have a talk. Given, it was $.50. It was not going to break the bank but come on. You are going to nickel and dime me for lunch?
I was not real impressed with lunch. I have gotten better food at Chili's. The other Plucker's I have been to had offered to go drinks as we were leaving and were always quick to ensure our drinks were full. The service needs some dire improvement.
Ok so I love pluckers , but not the San Marcos location. I walked in & there was a line of people waiting & waiting for the hostess. I walked to the bar to ask the bartender for help, he saw me and walked away....really? Asshole ! Â Then a server came by and asked if we have been helped ....umm apparently not?!?! Let's see how the food is ...
Review Source:I'm not a wing fan. In fact, I consider myself the WORST person to eat wings with, as I don't like ingesting animal skin. Yuck!
Pluckers is officially the first and only reason why in my 26 years of life that I actually ate the skin on a chicken skin! Yes, I was once *that* person who would use a fork to get the skin off of her wings, or just order boneless for a higher price just to avoid embarassment.
I commend Pluckers for their super-crispy wings, delicious sauces (except spicy ranch, which was way too salty), and great management. Our waitress was hard to find and it got a little too loud once a college football game started, but our manager saw our discomfort and hurry to leave the place, so she gave us a $15 gift card. Very nice!
I've heard the original in Austin is better, but overall I had a pretty good time here. If our waitress was better, I'd have given Pluckers a fourth star.
I gave Pluckers 3 stars because I like the boneless chicken wings. What I don't like is that you have to be a Pluckers Member to have them sing happy birthday to you. That's ridiculous! After asking 4 times to have them come by our table to sing to our friend, we received our bills. Not once did anyone ever tell us that you had to be a member. After sitting there another 20 mins thinking they would be coming around, we asked someone else and thats when they told us you had to be a member. Â Although I find that totally ridiculous, all they had to do was tell us that in the first place. And not get rude with us when we asked.
Review Source:great place to watch the game, great food, full service bar! good place to go at night before the bar, or even to take the family for lunch or dinner. they have more than just wings, wide variety on menu, but I'd definitely suggest wings. favorite flavors: buffalo medium, dr.pepper (kinda spicy but tastes like DP), bakers gold.
Review Source:This is my second time here. I have a service animal and the same hostess as last time gave me a hard time. Can she not see his vest? We also have three kids and we had to ask for the kids menu. If the servers were this bad I would never come here. One star for the hostess and as long as she is here and continues to not pay attention I will always give one star.
Review Source:Bleh! Â Bad things really happen in 3's (like I just wrote 3 bad reviews back to back and it's starting to put me in a bad mood so sorry!!!)
If you have HAD good experiences at this location, please don't read any further......if you are on the fence or haven't been to this one, please feel free to proceed with caution.....I feel like I am writing a Choose Your Own Adventure..... :)

Okay so we went here last night and it was way too loud. Â The tables were way too close together. Â I could see nostrils of strangers that I don't want to know about.
We ordered with the server named Jesus (according to his name tag and what was on the receipt, so I hope that was right).
I just told you everything you needed to know, huh? Â Kidding.
We told Jesus that we wanted wings tossed in ranch (as we always have at any other Pluckers with no attitude or drama given).
We got the wings, with no ranch at all anywhere near those birds. Â They were literally just fried which I have never even seen at any Pluckers and didn't even think they made them like that--is that even possible?
REALLY? Â When we confessed this to Jesus, he said he was going to have to go tell the new cook how to toss wings in ranch since he didn't know what that meant.
Apparently the cook needs to repent??
About ten minutes later, Jesus resurrected, and had our correct ranch wings.....he seemed none too happy about the cook. Â
What would Jesus do? Â He told us he had to go back there and make them himself.
Uh. Okay......and I kid you not, when I got home, I was sicker than the Anti-Christ, and I have never gotten ill from Pluckers food before ever.
What was wrong with that place last night? Â Damnation! Â It was bad.
I am giving that pluckers the bird on this review. Â Never again!
Sorry, Jesus, that was our last supper there. Â Thou shalt not ill.
Returned here, but only to watch the Saints game. Sat outside, since the noise level inside is AWFUL. I tried the wings again, a different sauce, still not good. The food here isn't bad, it just isn't good. And when your check comes, you want to cry you spent $15 on food that leaves a bad taste in your mouth. And I mean that literally and figuratively. We had a pretty good waiter....for a Cowboys fan. Ick. There were lots of little heathen children running around, with parents no where to be seen. I complained about it, and the little devils were returned to their pissed off parents. Bottom-line? I'd give this place one star, but they had the Saints game on...
Review Source:I was visiting from Ohio and someone recommend Plucker's for lunch. It was pretty good! We got a free order of fried pickles for it being out first time there which was awesome! They brought out lots of wing sauces for us to sample. The customer service was really great. I ordered the 'naked' wings with the Parmesan garlic sauce. It was really great! I loved the real garlic in the sauce. My sisters wings were ok. I definitely liked mine better though. My moms burger was good, but nothing special. The drinks are served in HUGE glasses which I have found out is a Texas thing. I would definitely recommend this place even though it is a chain.
Review Source:Lord of the flies?
This is normally not a bad place to go but my last experience was an evening to remember. Â I loaded up the family for a Tuesday night out. Â When we arrived, we were seated in the farthest corner by the bathrooms against the window. Â There were some flies buzzing around. Â little did we know we were seated in the corner that service forgot. Â It looked like they were training an army of new people and so there were only (what appeared to be) a few wait staff actually servicing customers. Â More flies continued to buzz increasing in numbers as more customers were seated around us. Â When the kids meals arrived, they forgot the gravy for the chicken tenders and the waitress' only comment was something to the effect of "that's aggravating". Â The evening quickly spiraled down from there. Â As she started to refill my tea which had been empty most of the evening, the final straw was placed on this camel. Â A dead fly poured into my cup. Â It was like one of those movies where everything quickly zooms in. Â A quick look at the window sill and there were flies everywhere. Â The kids were waving flies off their food. Â Flies were everywhere. Â I called for a manager. Â The waitress disappeared (which I found funny because we weren't angry - just disgusted). Â The manager offered no help saying that they can't do anything about the flies. Â He said they have had pest control out several times. Â He also told me next time I come to ask not to be seated by the windows as that is the worst area for flies (This leads me to believe this is a regular thing). Â Customers around me noticed the discussion and the flies. Â He offered us a $30 gift card which was generous except that I would rather the fly situation be corrected. Â All in all - we headed out to another old San Marcos favorite for a "fly free" meal instead. Â So if you walk in and the flies are buzzing, start thinking about how many have landed on your food while your order was being prepped. Â This seams to be the fly hot-spot for San Marcos. Â You can always request to be seated in the "no fly section", oh wait...they don't have one. Â And by the way, I got $30 in a gift card for my "maggot" wings for next time when I need additional protein. Â Bon Appetit!
I know what you're thinking: "5 stars for a chain restaurant?! Krys, you've lost your mind." Hear me out.
So, cousin and I met up in San Marcos for a girl's lunch after a week consuming liquid calories at SxSW in Austin. Naturally, since we are true health nuts, we decided wings and beer was the appropriate choice for this. Pluckers was an old standard in college, so we decided it would be a fun spot now.
We were just about the only people in the place, as it was nearly 2:30pm. They sat us immediately in a table by the bar and our waiter approached. The service this guy provided is by far the tops of all tops I've ever received. He was absolutely hilarious.
I tried to include some of his jokes here, but uhhh, they don't play out in a review as well as they do in person. Just know we were laughing with him from the moment we sat down until the moment we left. He had great suggestions on the menu, our food was very tasty (to be fair, it was all fried and covered in wing sauce - hard to mess up), the beer was sloshy cold, and we had an absolute blast.
This location is very sports bar-ish, as are the other locations I've patroned. They run a Trivia night on Wednesdays, which is hosted by the waiter we had that day, so I'm sure it's a riot, but I haven't been yet. HH specials most days of the week and Kids Eat Free Tuesdays.
Frankly, the experience was so great we've already planned to drive back up next week for another!
I think it's probably kind of lame to review chain restaurants, but my boyfriend and I come here pretty much without fail on Sunday nights. What can I say, we want some delicious chicken wings before the week starts again.
The service has never been bad, the food is always  top-notch (for what it is) and the place is always comfortable and clean. We NEVER stray from the 10 piece wings, buffalo medium with a half order of fried pickles. And it's always delish.
Pluckers is nothing exciting or innovative, but it's good food for a decent price. If you come to watch sports, their TVs are pretty fancy and there are like, tons of them.
More like 3.5 stars. What can I say other than it's a standard sports bar. I came here with my boyfriend and some of his friends to watch The World Cup game.
We were able to get a table for our large party which was great, and it was nice that there were flat screen TVs everywhere so that no matter where you sat, you could watch the game.
The food was okay - it was your standard bar food and some wings and sandwiches. It's not the best food I've ever had, but it served it's purpose for the occasion.
If you're in the mood for bar food, this is the place you should come! But if you're looking for something a little more substantial - go somewhere else.
That said, the service was great. Our server was on point as far as drink refills and all that good stuff goes.
I am not a lover of sport bars or wing bars. Â The exception of this falls with Pluckers. Â I really do enjoy coming here and I have found a few crave-able things on the menu that bring me back week to week.
The service is usually top notch. Â Fast. Friendly. Â Knowledgeable. The best part is that many of them think ahead so they stay caught up with refills. Â
The Buffalo Chicken Salad is really tasty. Â The shredded chunks of battered chicken bathed in tangy buffalo sauce is the best. Â I like when you mix everything with the ranch and you add the crunch of the veggies. Â I sometimes order one to-go and it is just as good as the dine in salads. Â I will admit that the portioning differs from dine in to to-go.
Thursday night endless boneless. Â Really its like endless tasty yum-yums in various forms. Â Along with a side this not only is a great deal, but you can take home as well so hurray for Pluckers. Â I really haven't tried anything that is super bad. Â Everyone loves the mac and cheese, but I only have one qualm that keeps me from being on board. Â It is sooooo heavy. Â The night I ordered it it just filled me up and didn't go well with the spicy boneless wings.
Appetizers are fun here and basic. Â In house potatoes chips spun in sauce of your choice. Â I imagine Bears Fans when we order these. I mean does it get any simpler? Â
Next Fried Pickles. Â That they do them in quarters instead of sliced like Hooters is why they are so much more enjoyable. Â The quartered pickle gives enough batter and pickle juice to be crunchy and juicy, the other style usually results in cardboard pickles.
Sweet side. Fried Twinkies. Gross. Name says it all.
Fun joint.
I've almost always had a great experience at this Pluckers location. Â Our first visit, we had the BEST waitress ever, Ashley (ask for her, she's the "short" Ashley). Â She was sweet and gave good recommendations since we didn't know what to order. Â I told her how great she was and she said she was new and was trying to impress everyone :-)
After that visit, I've always tried to get different things off of the menu and the only thing that has been disappointing so far was the "waffles n cheese" appetizer. Â I would ask for it with queso instead of monterrey jack because there just wasn't enough cheese to call them "cheese fries." Â Their chips & queso deee-lish! I also love love love sweet potato fries and they're awesome here too (try them IN the queso!). Â My favorite wing flavor is spicy ranch because they're dry wings and don't have a goopy mess all over them. Â
Parking can be a little hairy, but they have an extra lot in the back and the wait isn't too bad if you're ok with sitting outside when the weather is good. Â They also have trivia on Wednesday nights and there are a million flat screen t.v.'s making it a great place to watch sports.
I drove about 45 min from San Antonio to this location to try it out, after a few friends recommend i check it out. Overall, it wasn't bad at all. To drive 45 min though again, ehhh....maybe not THAT great. I did get the Boneless Buffalo Wings (Goldrush and Buffalo Medium). They were pretty huge, and good to the palette. The friend macaroni wasn't bad at all either. Then i even had the strength to try a fried Twinkie. If they rest of that food didn't clog my arteries, that sure did the trick. Great Food. Nice environment, but since it's so far away (i heard they will be building one here in San Antonio sometime soon, though), this may be only a once every six months venture...
Review Source:After a weekend trip from the River and a short shopping spree at the Outlet, a group of us were on a quest to eat and by chance we saw a Plucker's that detoured our way to eat at a pizza place that we yelped. There was an eager beaver who wanted to eat there so we all plopped into this wing place.
My experience was lackluster compared to my first experience of Pluckers in Austin. For some odd reason I didn't find the wings as satisfying with the exception of maybe the Lemon Pepper wings. It reminded me of Wing Stop. We also ordered the Honey BBQ, Mild, and Cajun sauces which were alright.
The appetizers though are never a let down. The fried pickle spears are quite mouth-watering. I recommend getting this when you come check out Pluckers. We also ordered the fried mushrooms, waffle fries, and stuffed jalapenos. All greasy goooodness! Also, if you order an ice tea or lemonade it comes in a big glass jar...which I thought was cool. haha. Ask for a to go cup if you're thirsty from eating all the wings.
Thankfully, my experience wasn't as bad as the first reviewer's.
There didn't seem a whole lot of options for dining in San Marcos at 9:15pm that didn't require a sliding window, so we opted for Pluckers.
Atmosphere: Â Shiny glass, powdered metals, and more TVs than a Best Buy showroom.
Service: Plucky and young, but my server wasn't as friendly as the college-aged girls that were taking care of other tables (nor as healthily stacked).
Food: Pretty damn good.
We started off with fried pickles (spears, not slices!). Â Outstanding. Â Nice and crunchy with no hint of residual grease.
My son and I both had wings. Â Wings are easy to overcook, my mine were pretty much spot on. Â I had half Dr Pepper (sweet and a little spicy) and Fire in the Hole (or as my 12 year old son so eloquently put it "Four alarms going in, six alarms going out"). Â My daughter had a corn dog w/ Mac and Cheese. Â My wife had one of the burgers (pretty good--but her favorite burger is Red Robin, so take that with a grain of salt). Â
I also had the Mac and Cheese (gooey and stringy with buttery melted cheddar) and the baked beans (rich, but too cloying for me).
They had a live band on the patio, but come on. Â It's July in South Texas. Â There's no fucking way I'm sitting on a patio unless I'm downing Shiner, which my wife forbade me from having since late night drinking makes me snore like a 737. Â If I were more of a man, I would have put my foot down and indulged in one of the delicious 34oz steins of perfection I was tortured by as the servers set them down at the other tables.
