You really can have a fun time at Pockets. It definitely can get old if you are not a pool guy though.
Why on earth do they charge cover after a certain time to hear some terrible racket of a cover band. Once the band starts playing, talking becomes impossible, even at tables towards the back. A definite downside, though pretty normal for a lot of these joints, so no change in the 3 stars.
If I could rate 0 I would. Our server has come by our table once in the past hour. I had to wait 20 minutes for a beer and then never saw her again. As my friends tell me, this is actually one of the better experiences they have had here. I've seen our server juggling bean bags and volley ping pong balls with the staff to pass time while ignoring her tables. As I speak that's what's currently happening. Needless to say we're leaving, going to a competitor, and won't be returning soon
Review Source:If you're a college student looking to get intoxicated and meet some people, this might be a pretty good place. Â However... if you're a pool player looking for a great pool hall, you're much better off going to Zingale's. Â The pool tables at Pockets are mistreated on a daily basis by the college students that go there, so they tend to stay pretty dirty. Â It's also hard to play a serious game of pool here on busy nights because they have chairs set up next to the pool tables that people sit at, so people are constantly having to move when you try to shoot a game. Â In addition, the service here is pretty horrid. Â Almost every time I've been here, we don't even know who our waitress is because they never stop by. Â On many occasions when we finally found a waitress, it took forever to get the drinks we ordered.
Also, on weekend nights, you're going to have to pay a cover charge just to get in the door..even if you're there just for pool and not for the band or karaoke. Â To sum it up- decent place to go as a college student looking to socialize...bad place to go for a serious pool game.
