Fabulous date night with my husband! From the moment we walked into Pour d' Vino, we felt like we weren't even in Lancaster anymore. The decor is really nice and the wine selection is pretty extensive. We both had the filet mignon, and we were so delighted with our choice... it was absolutely delicious and cooked to perfection! The service was excellent and we were lucky enough to have the owner visit our table and chat with us for a bit. Like I mentioned before, the atmosphere makes you feel like you are at a wine bar in Santa Barbara, not Lancaster. After dinner we tried the creme brulee-delicious once again! I can't wait to back! Definitely recommend!!!
Review Source:Great addition to Lancaster's downtown! Â We visit a few times a year and we enjoyed having somewhere new to try.
Our overall sense was that the place isn't really sure what it is yet. Â It has the look and feel of a wine bar, but then tries to have a whole bistro menu...which doesn't really work. Â We tried a couple apps and were disappointed.
My suggestion would be to focus on being great with wine (have good glasses available for those that know the difference and hire servers that know wine) and shrink the menu down to about 10 small dishes that really work with the wine you are serving.
Great spot to meet with friends. Music on the week end and good food to pair with the wine. I don't understand how anyone in the AV can rate this place bad! It's one of the nicest spots  have in town! Some people seem to complain about anything. As a big wine guy, I just got back from Napa as a matter of fact, this wine spot is pretty good for the AV.
Review Source:Ok, so I decided to go her for the first time for my birthday, we decided to sit on the patio. So I went in to tell the lady behind the bar we would be sitting outside. She then told me that they already had "last call" and would not be serving alcohol for the rest of the night. So its 11:30 PM, they close at midnight, yet they're not serving any alcohol for the night? Yeah, definitely NOT good business etiquette. I will be letting others know of my experience, and I work for multiple secret shopper companies...
Review Source:Disappointing!
Waited months before trying this place on the blvd. Like many before me, I REALLY wanted to like this place. Â Ugh!
Hb and I went here one night when the girls were out with grandparents. Wine was on point. Everything else drown the wine in sorrow.
Ordered the 'flight' 3 glasses 2 oz each of wine, a 'fruit and cheese plate' consisting of ONE sliced strawberry, a dried bunch of grapes, 25 fried pita chips, and 2 extra thin slices of brie ala walmart cheese display isle one.
I ordered the farmyard salad, ugh again! Poached egg cooked though, won't ooze. "Pancetta" more like beef jerky. Yuck. Â Chopped tomato and red onion. Few chunks of blue cheese. Special house dressing, ordinary nothing special.
Hb ordered chicken Alfredo, three desert dry pieces of chicken which had NEVER even seen a grill, rotini "corkscrew" noodles, and cream of mushroom soup.
Ordered the girls a plate of carbonara but no. That's not carbonara. TOMATO SAUCE! Really.
Now the service... the waitress was rude and slow. Seemed like we were bothering her asking for water or to order. So, when the atrocities they called food arrived, we asked for the manager and, low and behold, the waitress is the manager. Huh!
Overall, my suggestion, eat first then go for wine ONLY. Â Nontheless, we are not coming back.
First visit here on a Friday night at 9:30pm. Multiple concerns about this place.
- Multiple outdoor tables wobble drastically when touched. It was comical to watch the guy next to us grab his glass every time the woman at his table shifted positions.
- Waited a very long time for service after getting water and menus
- At a self-advertised wine bar, the first wait staff did not recognize the wine I ordered off the menu and I had to point it out
- A second wait staff returned after several minutes and said "Robert forgot what you ordered. Can you tell me again?"
- Wait staff returned again to table again to say they were all out of a basic white wine (Domaine Magellan Roussanne $10/gl)
- Finally received first glass 20 MINUTES after sitting down. Was informed 2 minutes later kitchen was closing.
The poor service and inexperienced of wait staff was heightened by the fact that an outdoor table next to ours had either owners, managers, or friends of theirs seated. The table received a regular stream of greetings by people and were checked constantly by various wait staff. See the contrast in levels of service added to the disappointment.
Tried to leave helpful feedback directly for restaurant, but it's entire website, except for homepage, does not respond. Â I think I see a pattern here....
I wanted to like this place. Â The idea of a nice intimate wine bar on The Boulevard is very appealing. Â But, I did not.
They do not have a host stand, so I wandered around trying to figure out how to be seated. Â After standing at the front door and being passed several times by servers, I went to the bar to ask the bartender. After finally being sat, me and my date waited (at least) 7 minutes before we were greeted by our server. She was not knowledgable of the menu at all. Â She knew nothing about the wine. Now I admit I'm a bit of a wine snob, but if you are a wine bar then your service staff needs to know about wine.
The menu was small, which is fine for a wine bar. Â However another major faux pas was their horrible meats and cheeses plates. Again, I'm a wine snob, but if you are a wine bar you need good cheeses. That is a must. Â The cheese they served was grocery store cooler-section quality, while the meat seemed like Oscar Meyer. I'm not being rude. I am being honest.
My entree was OK. Â We ordered a panini and a pasta to share -- grilled cheese and spaghetti really. Nothing special.
All in all, it was not horrible. It just was not good. I'll go again one day to give it another shot.
We tried to go here on a weekend, we called ahead and they said they were open, but when we got there they were closing and they said the kitchen was already closed down, so we left. I came back another day and the cheese plate I ordered was overpriced and not very large, they will the wine classes not even half way so you feel ripped off and the wine is marked up way too high. I will not be going back soon.
Review Source:My wife and I have had some lovely times at this little gem.
While still fairly new, the owners have consistently ramped up their service and are obviously very caring about their clientele. The second or third time we stopped by everyone seemed to know us by name.
The service has always been very attentive and I love hanging out on the balcony over-looking the busy Blvd on a night when the farmer's market or a show at the LPAC is on.
This is the kind of place I could just chill at and hang for an entire afternoon... and well into the night.
Ugh. I finally got to try this place and i really wanted to like it, but there are several problems. My mom and i sat down after walking around outside at the Thursday farmers market, hungry and thirsty. Thought we'd grab a bite before our movie across the street at the Laemmle. There was a bartender, one waiter, and the manager (owner?) working. 3 other tables had customers, not that busy. But it took so long to get anyone to come serve us that we seriously thought they were ignoring us. I literally had to wave my hand in the air to get service.  The food prices seemed reasonable UNTIL we saw what we ordered. $12 for a fruit and cheese plate that is a joke! Its mostly a pile of deep fried pita chips with 3 tiny lumps of cheese, a handful of grapes, and 3 paper thin slices of apple. Mom ordered the calamari and the portion was very small.  We rolled with and thought we'd try the desserts. I ordered the creme brulee and it was the worst i've ever had. It was like a  jr high cooking class was experimenting. The texture was a mess - runny and lumpy with hot and cold spots. Mom had the Floating Islands, which the witer described as pastrys floating in a sauce. It looked like watered down vanilla pudding with 3 small, hard, light as air cruchy biscuits. I couldnt help it, i HAD to insist on sending that back. Asked the waiter to bring mom a creme brulee too(before i discovered how bad mine was). It took awhile and when it came out, the sugar on top was black(burnt!) and looked nothing like mine.  The atmosphere is very nice and i would love to try it again in a few months if improvements are made. I suggest the owner go to Lemon Leaf to view REAL desserts or perhaps offer the yummy pastries from Caramel bakery further east on the Blvd. As for a lesson on a REAL fruit and cheese platter, visit LeChene in Acton. Im just blown away that someone would open a wine bar and not get these two simple things right.
Review Source:MILF Central!
Sometimes I come here with my friend so he can pick up girls. We generally start at Kinetic and then walk over. Even though they are ten yards away, it feels like I walked into my 40's.
The pro's are that they have live music, a decent beer(Rogue, George Killians) selection and the service is great. But not the really place to come and pick up on women.
We've had a hit and miss on a few instances here. Why do we keep coming back? Because we want to support mom and pops. To some reviewers who say the food is not upscale enough to pay such a high amount...Go to your local grocery store and see how expensive food is. Unfortunately their food is not the best, it seems that their kitchen staff is constantly changing because I have had an amazing pear & pork sandwich and a really horrible one. But oh their wine. I have had wonderful wine each and every time, but of course I am not ordering a $6 glass.
The atmosphere is good; we love the upstairs al fresco dinning. My husband and I had a date night last Thursday and OH MY! we were in for a show when we saw the clients that were having a party upstairs. Our waiter will attest to that :-) we had a good laugh when a gentleman was looking for the elevator. Service is good. This last time was much better. I would recommend seating people and not just letting them wander in and hope the staff sees them in a decent time. Â For now I will give them 3 stars and hope that they continue to do some changing and thrive into the upscale wine bar they can be.
I went to PourD'Vino Friday with a Friend. While they have a very good wine list, the service is slow, and the food is a nightmare. My friend ordered the caprese salad, and I ordered the portabello (pour d'bello) panini. The caprese was covered with ice cold fried onions and smothered with a yucky, gooey basamic-esque syrup. My panini bread was tough to bite through and only 1/2 of the sandwich had any mushroom on it. When I pointed this out to the waiter she offered to have the kitchen fix it. But she was so slow that I thought we'd be there all night waiting for my 1/2 a sandwich to return. She took $4 off my check and my dining companion's check as well. I will not be returning to Pour D'Vino. As a chef of 25 years I was very embarrassed for the entire establishment. I cannot imagine they will stay in business for very long with that level of food and service. Anyone who is rating this place with more than 2 stars is either VERY EASILY IMPRESSED, or ordered their food after drinking way too much wine!
I would not recommend this place to my worst enemy's dog.
I really, really wanted to like this place. Â I really want the new downtown to be a great place to hang out, get great food and great drinks. Â This place, unfortunately, is not a piece to that success.
The decor is nice, but the tables are extremely small and (if you eat outside) are wobbly plastic tables.
The service is also alright, but I don't go to a restaurant for service. Â I go for the food!
When I think "bistro", I think classic, simple, heartfelt dishes done in a fantastic, interesting way. Â The menu, at first look, seems to satisfy this. Â Cheese board, spaghetti, paninis, simple entrees. Â Looks promising, right? Â This looks like upscale comfort food - exactly what I want in a bistro.
The cheese board arrives and the first impression is - WHERE IS THE CHEESE? Â In either corners of a moderate square plate is a meager splattering of brie and five or so chunks of unremarkable yellow cheese. Â A small bunch of grapes, some garlic crackers, and a teaspoon of marmalade complement a depressing looking plate. Â The most shocking thing - and I still can't believe it - was a very obviously and carelessly tossed on handful of Ocean Spray trail mix. Â Craisins, peanuts, and tiny, Â pathetic almonds. Â The "cheddar" cheese was pretty obviously Great Value "Sharp" cheddar. Â The brie; maybe from Costco. Â There was less than 3 ounces of cheese on the plate. Â For this pleasure, $9.
The salad comes next. Â I tell my wife "if there is Iceberg lettuce on this place, we're leaving". Â Mercifully, it was a pretty decent spring mix with an unremarkable vinaigrette. Â Canned olives to complete the "obviously store bought" theme of the meal so far.
We both got the special. Â Beef tips braised in Chianti served with herbed risotto and steamed, seasoned vegetables. Â The sounds bistro to me, right? Â It reminded me of a fantastic dish I had in a retaurant in San Diego called "Urban Solace" (highly recommended).
When it arrived - wow. Â Did you ever have "Beef Stroganoff" Â in an elementary school cafeteria? Â Picture tiny pieces of beef carelessly chopped into tiny, "Alpo"-like chunks in a horrible brown gravy thrown with no care whatsoever onto a plate with a mold of "risotto" and carrots so pale - you'd think they were albino.
The carrots - completely unseasoned and steamed to the point of tastelessness.
The risotto - wasn't risotto. Â If it was made with Arborio (or even short-grained) rice, I'd be amazed. Â A dry, lifeless pile of flavorless, uninspired carbohydrates.
The beef - cut into dog-food like chunks and cooked in a horrible canned gravy. Â If there was even a drop of Chianti in this I would be amazed, but I don't think Wal-Mart carries a canned gravy with any kind of wine in it. Â Badly seasoned, flavorless, gelatinous.
The wine choices were fair - the waiter did seem to be able to pick a wine based on description of tastes. Â
The damage? Â $85. Â If I wanted a cobbled together pile of grocery-store bought food I would have saved myself the money and made something edible instead. Â
This place is not what the Antelope Valley needs, and is not what it deserves. Â We're a huge, diverse community clamoring for creative, wholesome restaurants. Â Pass!!
All I can say about this place is YUMMMM! My husband and I came here with another couple and we were blown away by how delicious everything was! They were having $3 mimosas so we started off with a few of those. We shared their cheese and meat plate which was fantastic although we all wished there was more food! We each had something different for our entree and there were zero complaints! (Which I should point out NEVER happens! This is the first time we have all 4 agreed everything was amazing). We had a couple bottles of wine and tried some of their desserts. Everything was great! The staff was friendly and helpful and not at all overbearing. We sat downstairs in the main bar area and it was clean and comfortable- very cute feel to it. We originally wanted to sit upstairs on the patio but there weren't any open seats. Hopefully next time we can try that!
Review Source:awesome, the staffand food selection. surely delicious. the atmosphere is so nice, warm and inviting. it is a great place for lunch, dinner or a night out with friends or alone. love love love it
Lets see what have I had there, I have had the meat and cheese plate, the chefs pasta special, the pork pannini, the steak pannini, the creme brulee parfait, simply devine for sure all of it.
cheers  saluuuu
Wasn't sure what to expect... I've come to realize that some of the places on the BLVD are just so-so thinking they are so much more. Â Pour D'Vino is not one of those places - what a delight!! Â Hubbers and I stopped in to eat during the big BLVD Christmas event and it was packed! Â We were originally sat a table that we later learned was reserved for a large party that was about to arrive. Â The young lady that sat us was exceptionally apologetic and insisted it would only be a few more minutes until she could get us a table and continued to apologize over and over again. Â She was so sweet - but honestly, it didn't matter much. Â There were plenty of open chairs at the bar and with the availability of a full menu there - we were more than happy sitting at the bar instead. Â I love that they have little sconce/hooks for coats and purses... whether they were MEANT for that or not, that's what I used them for and they worked perfectly. Â The bartender was extremely kind and gave us menus to peruse. Â We ordered the hot mixed nuts to tie us over until our meal arrived. Â If you're considering ordering these - don't. Â They're good. Â But they're just nuts...heated. Â With cranberries. Â There was some chocolate raisins on the plate as well. Â For me, it wasn't worth the money and I'd suggest splurging on something more grandiose in the appetizer category if you're wanting munchies. Â For dinner I ordered the farm salad... forget the name, but it was the one with the egg. Â Hubby had the heifer and grains. Â I LOVED my salad. Â Wow... the SALAD was easily five stars. Â Zesty and sharp rounded out with the smooth creaminess of the poached egg... fresh green lettuce... yeah, I'll be coming back for this beauty. Â The heifer and grains was a hit with the man. Â He was delightfully satisfied and not overly stuffed. Â The little side salad was a nice touch. Â The wine selection is huge. Â I can't say too much on the prices - they seem a little high, but it IS a wine bar and it IS on the BLVD. Â You certainly won't be disappointed in selection though. Â I was truly thrilled that Pour D'Vino exceeded the expectations I didn't know to have... the food is certainly my favorite part and I will most definitely be going back to sample the appetizers and try out some of the different wines. Â The atmosphere is wonderful - inside or out. Â Especially if you can stake some claim on the couches in front of the fireplace on the roof - what a great way to chill out, sipping wine, overlooking the BLVD.
Review Source:Very nice place, with very good food. Small plates, which well suit the size of my appetite. They have a very long wine list. I enjoyed my second choice since my first was unavailable, although the per-glass price was just a bit steep ($9 and up)
The atmosphere is wonderful. While we were sitting there, my husband commented about the background music. That's when I realized that I hadn't even noticed the background music -- in my opinion, the mark of good ambiance. There was music playing, but it was unobtrusive and didn't interfere with my evening the way it does in some places.
This is a great spot in the AV! It's atmosphere is like you're in LA at some trendy wine bar. They have over 100 different wines to choose from. They have have a limited menu, but the food tastes wonderful! I had the Chicken Alfresco and it was brilliant, my mom had the Heifer and Grains which was just as wonderful. The service was good, our waiter knew a lot about the wines offered and how to pair them. Overall great experience. I'm defiantly a fan.
