There was a super nice watiress bringing food and drinks to our group of 8 in the corner next to the band. Â I forgot her name already. Â Super friendly, super helpful and attentive service--young girl with longer blond hair. Â
Pub 181 is roomy and has a ton of potential for groups who want to watch sports, play pool and hang out with friends. Â
I'd definitely go again for a night out at Pub 181
I met up with some friends here to recover from a horrible day at the office. Â As far as dive bars go, it was a comfortable space. Â I'm always nervous entering a dive bar for the first time. Â I picture a Wild West-type scene where everyone turns to stare, and the old man in the corner says they don't take kindly to strangers.
But there was none of that, thankfully.
I'm so glad that smoking is no longer allowed in bars because I imagine that, at one time, the space must have been completely hazy.
There is a lot of seating so it's a great place to meet with friends. Â The drinks are inexpensive. Â I was disappointed there wasn't a single vegetarian entree on the menu, but the jalapeno poppers were very good and served hot. Â I got a Mike's Hard Lemonade + poppers + tip for $10. Â Not bad!
There are several slot machines if you're into that sort of thing. Â Lots of large TV's so a great place to watch sports -- especially if you're a Trailblazer fan with DirecTV like me.
The waitress was very friendly.
In summary, check your expectations at the door and enjoy this laid-back bar.
It's been awhile since I've been here since I no longer live in the area & am a bus rider. Â But I LOVE this place!! Â For a few years I would have a November birthday party there for "Yahooer's". Â I would reserve the space & we had a lot of people there. Â I once tried asking if they wanted me to have the party somewhere else & was told NO WAY! Â When I would call & reserve they would remember us & give us first choice. Â Food is good & inexpensive. Â We would go on a Sat night & usually go back in for breakfast the next morning. Â We had a LOT of Yahoo get togethers there. Â I have even been known to go in by myself for lunch in the past. Â LOVE this place!!
Review Source:Nice place. Great wait staff and the burgers there are really good. I had the 2/3 lb bacon swiss burger and it was very good. And very filling. Really good thick sliced pepper bacon. And comes with steak fries which are done very well. TV screens all over the place. Pool tables and the prices were also very good. We will be going back.
Review Source:This place is the best of the best for basic bar food! Sometime a refined three course meal is overrated. The BF and I have been here a couple times, and always leave impressed. The first time we split the Slider Trio (buffalo wings, two cheeseburger sliders, and a cheese quesadilla). We loved the southwest ranch sauce that came on the sliders! The sliders were bigger than usual; the same size as a $1 Mcdonalds burger! And it had grilled onions! YUM! The second visit we each ordered a different burger. The BF was craving chicken fried steak, but ventured out and tried the Western burger. This "burger" has a slab of chicken fried steak instead of the normal beef patty. I don't remember what else was on it, but he ate every crumb of it! His side of tater tots was massive, looked more like an appetizer portion. I ordered the San Fransisco Burger. IT WAS DELISH! It was 1/3 lb patty, with swiss cheese, tomato, and bacon (AMAZING BACON!!!!), all on sourdough garlic cheese bread! Â The BF and I were both so impressed with the bacon on our burgers, that we are going back this weekend to try their breakfast items :)
Review Source:My wife and I love this place. Â Game days are tough because it's crowded and the owner gets a little difficult about seating and such.
The people are nice, the food is very good and the drinks are affordable, Â All in all it's my kind of place.
Has pool tables, lottery games and a load of giveaways during games. Â If it was a little less loud it would be a perfect place.
OK, look let's get a few things out of the way here...
1. Pub 181's in Gresham
2. It totally kicked ass when you could still smoke inside and sadly is one of those bars that's still cool...but isn't quite the same since the ban.
3. None of my Gresham friends will voluntarily go with me this bar
4. It still totally, totally, totally kicks ass!!
If you're looking for refined conversation, elegantly prepared organic cuisine & the most stunning view of the river that Portland has to offer I have a question for you...
What are you doing over in Gresham?!?
I'll tell you exactly why you're here, because you got tired of looking for all that other stuff & realized you wanted a beer, a game of pool, and some greasy food in a well lit bar where the crowd's always super friendly. I get a LOT of grief for loving this place, but you know what? I don't care! Pub 181 pours a good mug of the suds (& a very healthily sized mug at that), the food's pretty good, & the people are always super super nice. I'm not saying that I'd drive there as a specific destination, but when you find yourself in Gresham (& you will) GO HERE. It kicks ass!!
