Delicious food! We got the stuffed Quahog, Mussels and Cod Fish & Chips. The Quahog was incredibly flavorful even without the butter dipping sauce. The Mussels were by far our favorite. Savory taste and delicious Linguica soup base which was perfect with the buttered bread. The fish and chips come with corn flake and almond crusting, which is not only unique but quite tasty. Will definitely come back if I visit Falmouth again!
Review Source:My family and I went the other night (April 29 2013). Â I had read previous Yelp reviews and wanted to see for myself. Â We arrived at 6:30 or so. Â There were only 7-8 people at tables or the bar. Â The decor is as advertised with dive gear and nautical themed things. Â Nothing fancy about the place. Â The menus came and I immediately was impressed. Â Now, there are alot of places on the Cape that not only seem to have the same cloned "seafood" menu, but seem to get many of their supplies from the same source. Â Go to any one of them, for example, and their stuffed quahog takes exactly the same. Â Fish and chips - ditto. Â Fried seafood platter? Â Uh huh - the same proportion of cod, clams, scallops and shrimp. Â The novelty of offerings was a refreshing change. Â Fries with a light coating of shredded cheese and truffle oil. Delicious. Â The fish and chips with corn flake and almond coating. Â The first time ever that the coating on my fish and chips had flavor in addition to texture. Â I was a bit skeptical about the melted cheese on the corn but when I tried it I have to say, it was good. Â Even the cole slaw was delicious. Â Great job really. Â Service was fine - nothing extraordinary but I didn't expect it to be. Â I went for the food and none of us were disappointed.
No chance to try a cocktail as I went with a beer. Â I'll definitely go again and try some of the other offerings. Â I wish it were in Woods Hole and not in what-ever you call that place.
Almost didn't stay but glad we did... this place is hidden away behind the mall in a strip mall. It was full of parents having a few after their kid's dance classes next door.
We decided to stay but the limited menu was a little disappointing..
Had:
the Stuffed Quahog - good but pricey at $6
The wings - good but had a spice I couldn't place
Fish & Chips  - crunchy yet light on the batter - yes their are sliced almonds coating it
Beers were good.
Would I return to eat? - maybe..
Do I wish I had one in my town as a hangout? yes.
Not a bad thing to say about the Quahog. I come here for lunch and dinner fairly regularly and have never been disappointed. Portions are huge and the food is amazing- have not once had a bad meal. The burgers are so big, don't even try to eat the whole thing- you'll have to take half home. I have been spoiled by their food- even their BLT is miles above others in the area. Truffle fries are to die for, chower is great and much more flavorful than most of the typical cape chowders. Owners & staff are super friendly & accommodating and make an effort to remember your name and what you like. Food is always super fresh and made to order, and they have some GREAT specials, especially their eggrolls. I am not much of a drinker, but they seem to have a pretty solid beer selection. Cannot say enough about this place.
Review Source:Came here based on the 4 yelp stars while we were on vacation and wanted to avoid the typical tourist spots. Was not disappointed! Service is super friendly and the food and drinks are great.
We shared the mussels as an appetizer. I had the fish and chips which were fantastic; their special coating really makes it worth trying. Dining companion got the cuban sandwich which was also very tasty. Had the bloody mary to drink which was nice and garlicky and came with bacon(!).
First and foremost this place is a bar. Â However im down to go to a bar with killer food and this place makes the cut. Â I have to admit I was a little thrown off when u walked in and I saw the bar full and no hostess but if u read the sign its a dive bar. The hubby and I found a table in the back right underneath a scuba diver. Yes a scuba diver, there are some funny decorations inside. The barkeep was great and very helpful. I got the grilled corn for an app. Covered with cheese and grilled to tantalize you, love it. Fish and chips batter was interesting and yummy. Hubby got lobster roll and stuffed quahog. Both were yummy.
Review Source:Drinks:
Water - water
Curious traveller shandy - very light and refreshing
Mayflower IPA - mmmmm
Grub: Â
Corn - very interesting, blackened a bit on the grill with parmesan and light spices. Â Would order again in a heartbeat. Â Â
Chowder - had five bowls in different places on cape. Â Bacon and bountiful seafood set this chowder apart. Â Delish.
Cuban - giant portion ingredients outstanding. Â Didn't use traditional press as roll was still arched and fluffy. Â Lots of bread. Â Smaller bread portion with same amount of ingredients would improve this sandwich.
Fish & chips - a little greasy, yet tender, great cole slaw
Chicken strips - my son says second best he has had, yet doesn't come with fries??
Would rate meal 3.5 stars, had to choose 3 or 4 so figured nice bartender and servers along with decent value for money, especially on cape, earns a 4 yet just can't give 4 stars given half was good and half was ok. Â Dinner for 3 was $59 without tip.
[Visit of Friday evening, June 22] This restaurant wins the award for our trip to Cape Cod. Everything was far better than anything we'd had before. The Lobster Rolls had a half-pound of meat on them and very little mayo or sauce. The Fish and Chips with the cereal and almond crust were excellent. The Stuffed Quahog and the Truffle Fries were great starters. The only change I'd recommend would be to use Shredded Parmesan on the Truffle fries instead of grated. The 18-something waitress also disappeared somewhere in the middle of our dinner. A veteran waitress ended up finishing up our service, taking better care of us.
There is a sincere effort to wow and win over the customer here.

First off, I don't like quahogs. I'm challenged to even spell the word, but don't let the name fool you, they have a broad menu and what I had was fantastic, with some caveats. I was immediately won over when the white-haired bartender (think Leslie Neilsen) plopped down a Bloody Mary WITH A CRISP SLAB OF BACON STICKING OUT OF IT!!! OK, I get it. that's not for everyone, but I thought it was cool. Large screens flicker sports from strategic points in the room. To my left, I heard a dart grab some padded felt. My shrimp cocktail arrived. A 60ish guy next to me said, "They're good, but pricey." He was right. $3.50 a pop in an Oceanside town seemed high. "Bob," a local with his left arm missing, chatted me up some more. I guess he was a sailor. He told be about his three homes, one on a Carribean island. There were some great menu choices including ribs, beef, etc., plus a pan seared scallop dish that sounded scrumpous, but trying to be good, I went with a veggie burger. Toasted bun, nice fresh lettuce and tommies... It was the best veggie burger I've ever had! For dessert, I went with a Wachusett Blueberry ale. The place has a nice selection of about 8-10 rotating choices on tap, and they'll tey you try before you buy at the bar. "Bob" returned from a private phone call. After he heard I had a meeting in Newport, RI the following Monday, he said, you come sailing with me. Come to the Newport Yacht Club Tuesday at 5:30 and ask for "Armagon." Suddenly I heard that creepy music that you'd hear in a David Lynch film. I scanned the room for mid... Uh, short people. I don't know if I'll go sailing with "Armagon," but I'm definitely going back to Quahog Republic!
Review Source:Dive bar means two things here. Â Yes, it has all sorts of nautical, dive related items hanging on the walls, and ceiling, but it also isn't fancy. Â It is in a strip mall that is nothing to look at. Â It is pretty much out of the way and you aren't too sure you are going the right way driving there. Â When you do find it, you will do a double take.
I will chose who I take here very carefully.  There isn't anything to look at. You will sit in captain's chairs or a booth back.  You will be perfectly comfortable wandering in here wearing flip flops and  t-shirt.  Televisions are going.  They have a juke box.  Get the feel? It seems like a bar. The food, well, the food is pretty dang good.
Four of us went and all four of us enjoyed our lunches. Â Clam chowder is excellent with some bacon thrown in. Â Two of us grew up on chowder and the other two come from a place where we have to explain the differences between Manhattan and New England chowder, don't ask about Rhode Island. Â All of us loved it. Â They should win some competitions with their recipe.
Cuban sandwich, sweet sausage, fish and chips and steamers were had and all enjoyed. Â Also enjoyed the beer choices. Â In fact, they have a great new shandy on tap that is perfect for a hot summer day, Curious Traveler shandy. Â Full bar with some interesting drinking choices.
Sounds and feels like a local's place, but you aren't treated like you don't belong, you are treated like you have been there before. Â Friendly, welcoming waitress and bartender, and I think manager, made you feel at home.
I give my stars based on how you fit in in your category. Â For a casual bar/restaurant, this place is tops. Â If I want good food and a nice place to chill for a while and not have to get dressed other than whatever I have on, this will be up there on my list. Â If you are just looking at the surroundings, don't bother, you are a bit too uptight to be able to enjoy this place. Â
ps......bathrooms are very clean, that should tell you something.
Doesn't look like much from the parking lot, but the place is awesome. Â Bartender/waiter was friendly, helpful and fun. Â Had the fried pickles special - DEElicious. Â The cod fish and chips was best I have ever had, and the coleslaw was even perfect, creamy without being soggy. Â Beer of the week was a local microbrew and pretty cheap - $4 for a bottle. Â I will definitly be back to try other dishes. My son had the clam chowder, which was also to die for. Â Not the most elegant location or place, but best-in-class for local bar with eats.
Review Source:This is one of those places you don't give a second look when you drive by but my husband and I sampled and loved their clam chowder at the annual Hyannis Chowder Fest...(Love the Chowder Fest!) so we decided to give it a try and boy are we glad we did! There were so many good looking things on the menu it was hard to stick to the chowder we went in for. We ordered a stuffed quaohog too for the heck of it which was great. We loved this little place and look forward to going back.
Review Source:Everything a dive bar should be - exceptional food, yummy drinks and above average customer service! Â
The place was almost full at 2pm, which is always a good sign! Â You could tell there were a lot of regulars hanging out in the bar area.
Since our two kids accompanied us I was happy that this establishment was kid friendly! Â They had some low-rise tables in the back of the restaurant and plenty of high chairs! Â
True, the location and exterior are suspect but I was really impressed with my overall experience from start to finish!  It's a place where the staff go out of their way to make you feel at home (especially the bartender  who waited on us!)  This is harder and harder to find these days!! Â
My husband ordered the bloody Mary and we both agreed it was one of the best we've had! Â They garnished it with a slice of bacon, which sounded odd but really gave it a nice flavor! Â I guess everything really is better with bacon - even beverages!! Â
I would also recommend the quahog chowder (unbelievable!) and the Cuban sandwich. Â The fish sandwich was also really good. Â
We'll be back for more!!!
I was honestly surprised I liked this place. I held off on going for a while because of the location - a rundown mini-strip mall behind the Walmart where you frequently find sketchy people wandering around. Nevermind the moldy bowling alley around back (I've definitely found syringes in the parking lot). Welcome to Cape Cod!
They have a decent beer selection on tap (not the usual Sam/Harpoon/cheap light beers that all the other bars around here carry) and are often offering some kind of tropical drink special (though I've often heard the management tell the bartender to not "push the punch" because it tasted terrible. They have decent bar food and a dart board. I was pretty impressed with their veggie burger.
So I finally trekked down to the cape to hit up the Quahog Republic Dive Bar in Falmouth... Â and I am super glad I did... awesome, perfect spot for any sort of bar atmosphere you are looking for.. Want a great bar with an excellent beer list? YUP. Â Want a cool little spot to just hang out and shoot the breeze with a bartender? YUP. Â Want a place open late on the Cape (kitchen til 12:30 i think) YUP. Â Want a spot where you can hang out with friends and watch whatever Boston related sports event happens to be on, on a number of big screens? YUP. Â Want an absolutely KICK-ASS bloody mary served with lots of olives and oh yeah, BACON! Â YUP! Â Want excellent, and i mean EXCELLENT takes on bar nosh of all kinds? YUP. Â To me when i think of a good little dive bar and if i owned/ran my own what it would be like i now have a working example of what that would be.. Â I love this place.. No pretensions, no attitude, just AWESOME food, Â EXCELLENT Beer choices and mixed drinks, and OUTSTANDING staff. Â If I still lived on Cape this place would trump ANY OTHER BAR as my local. Â For tourists visiting the Cape for the first time, do yourself a favor and go see what a Cape-Codders dream joint looks like..
Review Source:This place is truly a dive bar- it is down a dark street but it is well worth the trip. The owner, Bobby, worked the bar and made me a phenomenal bloody Mary. Also ask for the "mangria" which is his special sangria+margarita combination.
We had the: grilled corn on the cob, mussels and lobster roll. All were very good. Lobster roll was huge!
Huge and delicious mojito? Â CHECK!
HUGE and delicious lobsta roll (with no mayo and drawn buttah)! Â CHECK!
Awesome prices? Â Yep, check!
Awesome service? Â I'm looking at you, Kim! CHECK CHECK!!
Do I wish that I was eating this right now? Â YES! Â
I love this little dive bar in a strip mall. This place was laid back, we had a parking spot right out front, and they played great music.
If I lived in Falmouth, I'd probably go here every single day for their amazing lobster roll. Â Easily the best one I've ever had.
Oh and their grilled corn and truffled fries were amazing as well.
My tummy is growling and wants more lobsta!
I am coming back to Falmouth. Â Solely, for Quahog Republic.
Come to Quahog Republic and become a proud, happy and full citizen!
Good selection of local beers, yummy fish n' chips battered with cornflakes & almonds. For an appetizer, you have to try the grilled corn, chunks of corn on the cob with a spicy lime aioli and melted cheese on top. Amazing.
Waitresses were laid-back and friendly. A good home-town, nautical vibe. This isn't the beachfront grill that a lot of people are writing about. It's out of the way, in a crappy strip mall, but that only serves to keep a good crowd of locals frequenting the place instead of tourists.
I reviewed this place when it was on Mashnee Island and said it had great views and lousy food, now its the opposite!. Â Have eaten here twice and both times owner Eric Bevens(sp?) has been busy working along with his employees which I really respect. Even though its hidden in a non descript strip mall, he has decorated the inside to look seashorey and all nautical so it works. Food is fresh, well prepared and service is great and generally value priced. Â Not a tourist place (they would never find it), but a locals hangout. Seafood is featured as one would guess, but other land chow is good too.
Review Source:My finance and I checked out the Quahog Republic for lunch on a beautiful day in July. Â
It's a very casual grill right on the water. Â Basically a low-key fun beach shack type of place where you'll fit right in in flip flops and a t-shirt. Â It reminded me of a lot of the fun beach shacks I've been to in San Diego.
The view of the water / inlet harbor is pretty awesome from the decks. You can site outside and take in the views. Â I was a big fan! Â Afterward we wandered around on a stretch of public beach just to the left of the restaurant (cut through the gate just to the left of the volley ball court as you are facing the water). Â The beach immediately out front is owned by the Mashnee homeowners association so it's apparently off limits to outsiders.
The food was decent. Â We had the fish sandwich. Â It was a very fresh piece of local fish (don't remember if it was cod or haddock, etc) breaded, fried and coated with almonds. Â Yummy, but batter was a bit thick. Â My fiance had a cheese burger which was good. Â Definitely a quality piece of meet cooked just to specs. Â Very standard bun, toppings, etc. Â We also tried one of the homemade stuffed scallops. Â This was just ok. In general I'm finding out that I'm not a huge fan of all these "stuffed" seafood delicacies on the cape. Â It just tastes like a like of breading & butter to me. Â It did have very small chunks of scallop & shrimp and was served in a scallop shell (which was a cool touch).
The outside deck had a oyster/clam bar that looked very cute and affordable. Â We didn't try this so I can't comment on the quality but it looks fun. Â The sign indicates that they will give shucking lessons. Â I also loved how the raw bar sign is written on the back of a beach chair and just propped up on the wall. Â
Overall, I would recommend this place for a lunch or casual dinner. I would definitely go back if I was in the area.
I've been here numerous times, when it was the Mashnee Island Gril and Beach Bar and I usually have a pretty good experience. The only time I ever had a bad experience was when they severely undercooked the jerk chicken sandwich. They were so appalled they immediately made me a new one and comped me and my date the entire meal (needless to say I was fine with the way things turned out) and thats pretty much the status quo for here.
Just recently I went with my extended family, a party of 9 (plus the newest baby in the family!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) and we had a really good time.
We started with a few rounds of drinks, I went with a Manhattan (I was feeling homesick for NYC, and its the only thing my 88-year old Grandfather will drink) and then went to Jameson and Gingers. Both were a little weak, but still fairly tasty.
For appetizers we tried the fried conch, a few cups of chowder and two orders of the artichoke dip. the conch was light and fried well, with two sauces, a flavorful marinara and a decent but rather heavy tartar sauce. The chowder was decent. Too soupy, not creamy enough. Everyone else liked it but me (cry). Â The artichoke dip was my favorite of the apps. I feel like too many artichoke dips rely on the cheese as opposed to the freshness and quantity of the artichoke, whereas as this dip was light and heavy on the 'chokes. It also came with toasted pita bread, which was a nice change from shitty bread or tortilla chips that normally come with this dish.
For the meal I went with their specialty burger, which was a little out there. It was a half pound of Black Angus Beef, pineapple, apple smoked bacon, caramelized onions, cheese, lettuce and tomato, adorned with three grilled shrimp. Overall, the sandwich was tasty, but I just felt like there was too much going on, and I never really got a sense of the flavor of the beef. If you're going to use such high quality beef as Black Angus, why hide it under so much accoutrement? Also, I eat a lot of burgers, and I highly doubt that was a half pound. 6 ounces AT MOST.
Overly, a very fun outing. And I'm just realizing the new baby is 2 and a half now, but she's so damn cute and silly she'll always be the little baby to me.
DISCLAIMER: If I was in New York, this place would get 3 stars. But it's Bourne, MA and for the area this place is pretty awesome.
SECOND DISCLAIMER: I know and understand how douchy the previous disclaimer sounds, I just don't give a fuck.
