Good food, some of the better BBQ in Spokane. However, it almost always takes at least 45 mins to an hour to get your food. Be prepare to wait!!!

I stopped into the Red Lion last evening.  I was walking around town and thirsty. I found the place to be quite charming. Friendly bar patrons who made me feel like I was a regular. I also commend the owner/manager for the lesson in WSU football history this guy knows his stuff. Beer was cold and atmosphere was like home. Any bar that has a golf bag from Caddyshack is a place for me.

My husband and I settled on this place for dinner. Walking in, it was pretty empty and there looked like there wasn't even any staff for a minute. After standing there for a minute or so, we seated ourselves.

The waitress wasn't to attentive to the people who were there nor us. The food was really meh. Wasn't horrible, but really wasn't to much to get excited over.  I got the nachos (which were HUGE), they weren't to bad, but most certainly not worth the price charged. The same thing went for the burger my husband got.

Red Lion BBQ is a great restaurant and bar.  We've gone there for years, they have a really good selection of food and there portions sizes are large for a great price.  Staff has always been friendly and our kids enjoy going there with us as well.  We often use the

Excellent reasonably priced BBQ. I had Bobby's Special, a rib/chicken combo that came with onion rings and a choice of side. The chicken w/BBQ sauce was moist and plentiful and the two ribs were large and meaty. I was here late afternoon so the place wasn't crowded. Lots of TVs for watching sports. Great place. If I'm ever back in Spokane I'll definitely go back

O.k. so it was a Monday, but with easily 20+ people, this place was SILENT inside. Fyi 1/2 pound of ribs was ~3 ribs, tasty but not quite the portion I expected. Friendly barkeep and a good # of TV's. Reasonable prices. Given other reviews I wish I had tried the rib tips & had a sandwich. Maybe next time I will.

This is a great place to go and have a drink and watch a game. The environment is great and the crowd is always enjoyable. The food is outstanding and the deep fried bread is a must have. The BBQ is the best I have had around the area and would recommend it to anyone looking for good BBQ.

I have struggled to find a good place to eat when I stay in Spokane.  There are a few solid places, but nothing I feel like going to each time.  Somehow I had never noticed this location before.  I was happy to stumble upon a barbecue spot.

It is not much to look at from the outside.  The inside is also kind of divey.  It has a sports bar feel mixed with dive.

The servers are friendly and attentive.  The food is affordable and served quickly.

I ordered the steak tips and a barbecue ham sandwich.  The tips were OK.  They were prepared nicely, but could have used a little seasoning.  The barbecue sauce that comes with the order helps.  They also come with some horseradish.  A little bit of that goes a long way.

The ham sandwich was OK.  The ham and BBQ sauce were good, but it could have used something more.  I think either some cheese or coleslaw would make it a very good sandwich.

They have really good BBQ. Good beer and sports on the TV. The kids like it too. However, usually the TV's are up too loud and there are often inconsiderate patrons who have had too much to drink. I know it's not really a family place, but with good BBQ the whole family likes to go here.  It is too bad that they don't attempt to make it more family oriented and less drunk college kid oriented, we would probably go here more often if this happened - so would our friends' families.

George welcomed us in as we were the first people into the restaurant. There were four of us and we got the following:

    Reuben
    Famous Dave's pulled pork x2
    Wine broiled chicken sandwich.

I loved the Reuben (swirled rye with thick amount of horseradish) and my father in law loved the famous Dave's; definitely flavorful meat and light hamburger bun with coleslaw.

The clam chowder was fresh and had garlic as a main ingredient. We all agree the Onion Rings are AMAZING!!!  Don't need any Ketchup. Wow!

We are here for my wife's graduation, but if we do come back to Spokane, we will come to Red Lion BBQ.

Okay, picture this: A beautiful brunette bartender who is actually sweet, the amazing smell of fresh BBQ in the air, and fry bread--all under one roof! Yes, it does exist, and if you would like this experience, give the Red Lion BBQ & Pub a try!

I must say, I do like Smokie's baked beans better, but the hot fry-bread dripping with butter and honey makes up for it (butter & honey are optional, of course). Also, not to be a bug-a-boo, but the pork spare-ribs were a bit on the fatty side. In comparison, Smokie's ribs are just as good, if not better, and have not one lick of gristle on them.

All in all, I was extremely impressed with the Red Lion. They packaged our to-go orders with such expertise, somehow not one of my items touched any other!  Keep in mind, each styrofoam box included 4 ribs, 2 thick onion rings, 2 pieces of fry- bread, and baked beans! And my clean napkins were inside, as well!

If you decide to dine-in, please do not be scared away by the pub atmosphere. It is a great dinner spot, regardless of the sports bar, which they are equally known for. As far as parking, there are plenty of spots in the back if you aren't able to find a spot on the street out front.

Small old established sports bar downtown Spokane.  Bar in front with dining area in the back.  Drinks are good and the BBQ is some of the best in the area.  Try the sample plate & you'll be back for more.  Parking can be a problem but there are enough parking lots around to find something close.

As a southerner, here's one piece of advice: spicy tomato sauce alone  does not a barbecue make. If you cook your meat in an oven, you should never hang a sign out front that says BBQ. Last time I go to a "BBQ joint" that doesn't smell like smoke when you enter.
Really mediocre bar food, dirty 1970's decor, moderately accommodating staff that seems annoyed when you show up with a group. Won't be back.
And BTW: What's with the eye rolling and attitude of wait staff in Spokane when you ask for separate checks? These people are way overpaid at $9  per hour plus tips to do a low-skilled job (look up the national average for waitstaff pay). Splitting checks is your job. Don't want to do it? Then try to find another job that will pay the same amount given the same skill set. It's just not that difficult.

The Red Lion BBQ and Pub is dangerous. Don't be scared, it's all good.

I have driven past Red Lion an infinite number of times. Division is busy, and it seems inhospitable to human life. Crossing the street at this intersection is deadly. Parking your car, and opening the door into the traffic lane seems just as perilous. Upon entering Red Lion, the wind will whip and whirl the fine industrial street powder composed of spent tires, rusted car metal, salt, sand, and chip bags into your face.

Once you make it past the front door, the Red Lion is quiet and friendly. It is a dive. Some of the tables are home made. The overall design is incoherent.

The food, the food is great. I witnessed the "Super Combo." It is a gigantic pile of food. It feeds four for under 30 dollars. It's a meat bonanza. It is epic.

The ribs are great. They are meaty, and covered in sticky sauce. The sides are just as good. The potato salad was perfect.

Some items could use some improvement. The fry bread was a little heavy, and the pork loin is dry.

The staff is awesome too. Sit back, drink slowly and wait for your pile of meat. It is incredible.

I ordered a chicken and provolone sandwich. I swear its been over 30 minutes since I placed the order and I still haven't received my food. WTF!!!  I complained that I hadn't received my food and I was told this isn't McDonald's. I was told there were 50-60 orders in front of mine.

I'm sorry. Waiting over 30 minutes for food is unacceptable at any place.

I paid for my drinks and left.

I had to rate it one star because Yelp doesn't allow me to rate it zero stars.

From the outside, even the inside, there isn't much that doesn't scream dive bar. BUT DON'T GO! STAY!

The BBQ is amazing! The sauce was smoky with a bit of a tang without being too vinegary. I had been on pigout mode all weekend, so I opted for the chicken breast sandwich with a salad on the side. Sweet jesus, that was some good sandwich! The chicken was really moist, and there was plenty of sauce. The salad was a green salad: not super exciting. Matt's parents, sister and him split a BBQ platter of ribs, chicken, and pork along with coleslaw and beans. They all loved it. Matt's other sister got the chicken breast and she loved it too.

Our service was good, she forgot coleslaw, but quickly brought it and always checked on us. YUM YUM Red Lion.

The food at the Red Lion was AWESOME! I got the 1/4 lb. Ribs which came with two pieces of fried bread, onion rings, and a side of your choice (I chose cole slaw). All were delicious!  The cole slaw tasted super fresh, the ribs (although a little fatty) were tender and delicious, and the fried bread was to die for!!  I tried my friends BBQ Pork Tenderloin which was equally as good and was super tender. The service was great and the place had a the charm of a 70's dive bar which I am sure is not everyone's cup of tea but I did not mind it. I played the Golden Tee golf game and was just fine.

Only down side to that dive bar feel is that there were a group of drunk regulars that were so drunk they were falling all over the place. They were sitting at the table next to me and were yelling at each other and acting like idiots. Made the atmosphere a little unappealing as I ate my food.

Overall, I will be returning for the food and maybe sitting farther back in the dining area instead of the pub area the next time. Very good service and food can make up for the gross regulars.

I don't know of many other places in town that have the combination of having one of those touch screen video game machines that offer adult versions with nudie pics AND the best fried Indian bread. I could eat that stuff up all day. This is across the street from the Globe and Fast Eddies. For some reason at the end of one Fourth of July fireworks show this was the only place open. It seemed everyone else in town had closed up shop. Restaurant workers need to get drunk too. For that, they will forever be a good bar in my mind.

A great place to see local celebrities after they lose the big game, the Red Lion BBQ & Pub is a true hidden gem in the rough of downtown Spowhatwhat. The decor is reminiscent of grandma's basement, but the funky old person smell has been replaced with the sweet tang of well done barbeque.

    Michael, eat your heart out.
