This is probably the best pulled-pork in NoVa, in my humble opinion. Â The meat is tender, but with that little bit of bite and chewiness to it that lets you know it is perfectly cooked (and hasn't been sitting for hours in a chafing pan). Â I also love that the meat was juicy enough to stand on its own; they don't need to drench it in sauce to cover poor quality or overcooked meat. Â The sandwich is a huge portion, which is always a good thing with good Q. Â
The only things keeping this from being a 5 (and clear winner for best barbecue in NoVa) are the sauce (which was quite good, but I like my carolina-style to be basically straight vinegar) and the coleslaw, which had too much mayo for my personal taste.
This is now my go-to barbecue, I don't think I'll drive by without buying some, and you better believe I'll be heading out there as often as I can...
My husband and I are BBQ snobs so for them to get four stars they are pretty darn good. My husband and I had the pulled pork sandwiches with coleslaw. The pork was tender, smoky, and had a surprisingly-wonderful spiciness. Lots of competition for BBQ in the area, but I would go back to Reddy's for an occasional treat!
Review Source:Reddy's BBQ has finally resurfaced in our general area at a new physical location!
A brief bit of recent history over the last 3 years or so. I first encountered Reddy's BBQ at the Evergreen Deli and Gas Station - located in northern Haymarket off of U.S. 15.
Then they moved to a new location, this time with a Gainesville, VA address - setting up shop in a vacant building and space just off U.S. 29 - just west of Manassas National Battlefield Park.
Then they disappeared from that location, much to my dismay.
They have now re-appeared at a new location - a little farther away - this time in Aldie, VA, just off of U.S. 50 - a mile or two west of Gilbert's Corner (Intersection of U.S. 50 & U.S. 15).
It might have taken me some time to discover this, but my friend Nathan Watson found them the other day and checked in while getting some BBQ, thus alerting me to this deliciousness!
So I made a beeline there today to grab my favorite things from Reddy's: Ribs and Collard Greens!
I got a full rack and I thought I ordered a half sized container of Collard Greens - but when I got home I found I had a full sized container. No biggie, I'll devour the Collard Greens!
The ribs had a nice smoky, delicious aspect to them. And they had a nice bit of char and caramelization on the outside. They were not as tender as they could have been, but they were still very yummy!
You can get other things at Reddy's: Brisket, pork, and a number of other sides.
They do accept credit cards, as well as cash. There are also a number of tables with umbrellas - so you can devour your BBQ on site. They are only open on weekends.
Here's hoping that Reddy's stays put from here on out!
Check them out!
