We keep our boat at Redfish Bay boat house, so we eat here on a fairly regular basis.
The fried shrimp & po boys are usually consistently good. Â Fried oysters are good, but only order them when they're in season, so you know they're local & fresh. Â Hubby's ordered grilled fish & hamburgers, and they've been good too -- one time the cook used too much "blackening" spice, but the fish was still cooked correctly, just too spicy to eat.
Redfish Willie's is a typical seaside dive -- enjoy the view, have a beer or two, and understand service can be slow at times. Â Stick with straight forward menu items & don't expect gourmet treatment. Â Also, know that it's only beer & wine & the "wine based" margaritas & wine coolers.
The water front view is great. We arrive there on 7/3/2013, around 6PM. The restaurant was about 80% full. Not a big restaurant. We had our drinks and food ordered and enjoy the great view. We wait almost 1 hour later, we didn't see any food on the table. Ask the waiter, she said short of cooker inside, only 2 people were cooking. She asked us to wait for another 10 mins, then we got the food. It's seafood platter and gumbo, deep fry seafood, the oyster was not fresh. The fries were over cooked. The gumbo was super bad taste. They use those kind of foam cup and it was almost room temperature, just a little bit warm. Look like they got from refrigerator and put into microwave for 1 min. That was really funny food we ate close to the beach.
I was not sure why they were so slow since most of the food are deep fried. They should cook the food together from different table's order. The cooker was really not trained.
If they don't know the capacity of the kitchen, they should not let so many customers in and wait there.
The only good thing they did was they discounted the bill for 50% off. I think the food worth for that kind of price, I won't be able to pay full price for the food there. Sucks...
Loved this place!! The food was delicious and the service was great! I ordered a burger and it was probably one of the best burgers I have had in quite a while! I'm pregnant so I have to have it cooked well done which usually makes them dry but this one was still as juicy as could be. My husband got fish n chips and he enjoyed his a lot too. Cheesecake for dessert-was $6 for a tiny little piece but it was very good. Definitely will stop here again if we are ever in the area!
Review Source:I really loved this place! The set-up and ambiance definitely holds that local beach feel. There was live music that really set the scene.
I had the Black and Blue Fish. It came on a hoagie with blue cheese and was great! Our waiter was extra attentive and we didn't have any complaints.
The only negative thing I could see is that with the way the building is set-up (with those open sliding garage doors) it might not be the best place to go to during bad weather. However, on a sunny warm or cool day it's amazing!
