It has been a dream of "M" to come here since a he was a little boy. Â I know what your thinking, he dreams big right? Â Anyway we had the opportunity and man are we happy we took it. Â A true dive bar, I had the sense I was in a ships hull on the bottom of the ocean drinking with some regulars on their first shore leave in years. You won't see snookie here, no way, this is a locals place. Â Yes they have ping pong, pool, shuffleboard, and some great drink prices. Â They pour them heavy here and they only take cash. Â Come to think of it we saw a lot of Cash only signs up in town this weekend. Â
Anyway, one of the friendly locals told us NOT to park in the lot. Â "Cops will bust ya right away" Â awesome tip we took to heart and moved the car to a street spot. Â
We played a few games of ping pong, downed some shots, $10 for a mini shaker, and a few other drinks. I think the bill came to $25 and we gave a pretty solid tip with that. Â
Yes, Riggers is headed to the Dive Bar Hall of Fame. Â We are headed back.
Since I have been about 17... it's been an option to every weekend's puzzling questions of "What do you wanna do?" A favorite for some of my friends... but there is not much that sets it apart from the traditional and all too common dive bar in Seaside Heights. Their biggest attribute I think is the presentation; appealing to all ages and classes... not exclusively catering to tourists.
Located in the heart of the heights... it's dive-bar atmosphere has decent drink prices... $2 drafts and $5.50 Shakers depending on the special of the night and the time of the year. Plenty of entertainment.... air hockey, pool... etc. An awesome poster-child bar for the Jersey Shore!!!
Weather your an infrequent shore visitor or native... a visit to Riggers is always an option!
