OH!!! EM!!! GEE!!!!! Cambron Sandwich is freakin awesome with a side of Potato salad and Maui Onion chips!!! what the heck!?!?!?!?! AMAZING in a basket!!!!!! Every weekend after rafting this is our spot before we head on to home :(
so sad to walk away from The River Shack -cries-
a must! for everyone who loves sandwiches cant wait to go back... to Tha RIVER SHACK!!!!!!
this place is awesome! not a single bad thing to say about it other then it almost makes my head explode thinking about it! Anything less then 5 stars is uncalled for.
on a more personal note i love the lady from Berkley (Analisa) who goes to a deli wanting fried food, then thinking that crossing the street to get some is just to far?
cough cough super lazy cough cough
Love this place! After a day on the river, coming in for subs and suds, this is THE place to do it. How many times do you go on vacation on just get the standard chain restaurant anywhere USA experience?? This is not that! This is an authentic, cool spot with a local vibe. The owners are ALWAYS there and welcome you personally and recommend the fun things to do while in Coloma. Plus, the filmer from The Deadliest Catch hangs out there - totally rad! We WILL go back!
Oh yeah, the food is delish! Try the Hot Mama or The Troublemaker - both are yummy!
This was a fun spot to visit after a day of rafting. They have a really good selection of beer and TVs all around to watch.
The bummer is they only serve sandwiches, so no deep-friend pub food. You know, the stuff you want after coming off a long day on the river. They let me know I could go across the street for my onion rings and fries, but it just seemed too far in that heat.
Awesome staff. Â The owner is great. Â The beer selection is better. Â Tons of options including hard ciders. Â The food is fine, with good happy hour specials. Â A pefect place to hang out after rafting while you wait to check out your pics. Â The only con is there is NO SERVICE in the area so you can never check in. Â I'm a lightweight but I always get at least 2 drinks so I can try something new (so many to choose from) and have something I love.
Review Source:This place is great. Â Everyone that works there, including the owners are friendly, the beer selection is large (they even have a challenge card to drink one of each), the food is tasty, the ambiance is fun and the things on the wall can keep your interest quite a while.
Lunch time deli sandwiches are made to satisfy your appetite. Â I have gotten sandwiches here countless time and I never been disappointed. Â There are also special dinners depending on the day of the week. Â I frequently go to Fiesta Friday for cheap tacos.
They only accept cash so be prepared. Â Also don't try to stop by in the winter because they are closed :-(
This mom & pop deli and pub on Hwy 49 in the heart of CA's gold country is the bomb. The River Shack dishes up real (read meat piled high) deli subs on great bread with fresh trimmings. You can custom order your sandwich how ever you like it, or you can experience one of their great 5-star signature sandwiches -- my favorite is the ARTIE (Turkey, Jack and artichoke hearts!). Â Check out their daily specials and great salads too! Â TV's inside for the big games while you chill with your suds!
A nice clean place to grab a bite to eat while taking a break from the American River and Coloma State Park. Â Lots of cool things on the walls decorating the place including many Deadliest Catch pics as the production company for the awesome crab show is located in Coloma as well.
Dennis and Dayna are two of the friendliest owners I've ever met! I met them the first night I came in and they made me feel like we'd been old friends forever.
Even if it weren't for the amazing owners, they have a kick-ass beer selection (something like 100 beers), and delicious sandwiches and salads.
When I get off the river, sometimes I'll have something important to do like go have dinner with my parents, but instead I always find myself at The River Shak enjoying a pint and a sandwich. It's like rafting the South fork isn't complete unless I've stopped at the River Shak afterward.
This is my favorite casual place to eat and have a beer. Â To bad this place closes during the winter. Â They have one of the best beer selections in the area, including 5 or so on draft. Â They serve sandwiches for lunch and often have specialty dinners, like fiesta Fridays (tacos and burritos). Â I try to go once a week in the summer. Â It is a great way to check in to the local whitewater crowd.
Review Source:The River Shack in Lotus is more than a restaurant, it is a local phenomenon.
It is a sandwich shop with a beer/wine bar and so much more. The sandwiches are delicious and the beer selection is excellent! I have no problem driving 20 minutes to just to order an "Artie" or "Gabroni". In addition to the excellent food this is a great place to soak up the local flavor and vibe of the whitewater community.
Locals, travelling guides and kayakers from various states and countries hang out here to shoot the bull over a beer or to catch the game on TV. The walls are filled with interesting pictures and memorabilia. If you can't find something to grab your imagination you aren't looking hard enough.
The only negative about this place is that they close in the colder months and open again sometime in the Spring typically after Easter and before Mothers day but such is life in this river community.
One thing to note, bring cash, credit cards are not accepted but there is an ATM inside that works some of the time. Easier to just bring cash.
