The baked potato wasn't completely done and lukewarm. The mixed veggies were from frozen and had a dead flavor to them. The cooked to death ribs were boiled/steamed, and covered in sauce. The bar was about as "roadhouse" as a Denny's.
I recommend this place because the experience was better than sitting in my hotel getting drunk, eating the complimentary Kashi bar, and waking up at 2am with all of the lights on and the TV blaring infomercials.
This place is FINE! Â I've read the other reviews, we are not in Chicago or SF people! Â Nice and clean friendly diverse menu. Â You won't go wrong. Â If you want to make the 45 minute trek to Louisville, or the same to Indy you can, or you can get a nice meal in a clean friendly place right here.
Review Source:Stopped in at Roadhouse USA because we were craving steak while on I-65. Â We happened to exit in Scottsburg and saw this place while getting fuel. Â Decided to give it a try. Â
Decor is plain and a bit dated but was relatively clean. Â All in all, we weren't turned off by the atmosphere but it wasn't anything special.
Hostess who seated us was unpolite and in a hurry despite the fact that only 4 or 5 tables were being used. Â
Shortly after being seated, a man in jeans and a polo came from the kitchen and asked us how our meal was going. Â That's fine, but we hadn't ordered anything so I just told him everything was okay. Â He hurried away to ask the rest of the tables the same thing. Â I got the impression that he was asking as part of a routine and not because he actually cared about his customer's experience. Â
Soon after our server came and took our order. Â My wife and I both ordered the "specially marinated" ribeye with green beans and baked potato. Â Our son ordered a burger and fries. Â We also all shared a spinach and artichoke dip with tortilla chips. Â
The food came out of the kitchen fast. Â The dip appeared microwaved and the tortilla chips were the cheapest quality much like round store-brand generic tortilla chips. Â The dip actually didn't taste bad and was probably the high point of the meal. Â The rolls with cinnamon butter were not warm and appeared to be pre-made off site. Â They weren't very good but they weren't bad either. Â The baked potatoes appeared to be microwaved as well. Â They weren't bad but not any better than microwaving a spud at home. Â Our green beans were okay. Â The low point of the meal were the ribeyes. Â The special marinade tasted extremely salty almost like it was being marinated to be made into jerky. Â The steaks were also tough and nearly impossible to cut with the dull steak knives we were given. Â I reluctantly finished my steak but my wife could only eat one bite. Â Our son did enjoy his kids burger and fries. Â Our server was decent and friendly. Â
I have never sent food back and I don't plan to start. Â I have a fear of what a person who put so little care into preparing a bad meal would do when faced with a returned plate. Â I did inform our server of our opinion of the food quality. Â She appeared annoyed by our feedback and only left us with the bill and appologized. Â
The bill for 2 ribeye dinners, a kids burger and fries, spinach artichoke dip, and waters was $50.  I left feeling like we had paid more than what we would have at a chain steakhouse like Texas Roadhouse but got a quality of product a fraction of what  the latter would provide. Â
I hope this place changes because Scottsburg residents will have to travel if they ever want to experience an acceptable steakhouse.
Very conveniantly located next to our hotel. Not many choices in this town. Â My wife had the Ceasar salad which consisted of lettuce and 5 croutons. Fried appetizers were really fried. Burger was OK and sweet potatoewas OK. Â Our waitress was great, but the Host made it look like we were bothering her and she acted the same with others too. Â I would fire her ass for representing my restaurant like that. Our hotel next door said it was the best in town.......Too bad , and glad I don't live there.
A few little changes and it could be alright , but until then...........Naaaah
Best thing about the meal were the warm rolls.
Nice atmosphere, the Salad was superb. The Rib Eye Steak should of never have been removed from the cow. The taste was great but just like eating shoe leather.
The sautéed mushrooms were from a can. They had no sweet potatoes so I was stuck with f f. They were ok
NOT Â a favorite in my book.
I've eaten here many times, maybe too many. It's very ordinary, nothing special about it. There are not fantastic selections of restaurants in Scottsburg. Last night's meal at the Roadway Inn has now officially turned me off this chain. I ordered the special "steak Diane" the whole meal was cold and I was just too tired to send it back. I should've had made the effort and gone to Jeeves, admittedly a little more expensive but a very good meal is guaranteed.
