I don't know; I guess when I like a place I should just never go back. Â That way, I can have the good memories. Â Went in with my buddy awhile back and found out that the waitress that actually sported a personality was fired and they replaced her with this rude, caustic insulting Meme or something.
I asked her what was the special and her response was well? What do you think?  Then pointed to the specials list and went back to chatting with her good-ole-girl buddies who actually praised her for acting like a horses ass to us.  Too  late to just get up and leave, our glasses of beer were being delivered..  We finished those and went to the Portway.  Ahhhh, all better now!!!
I guess all relationships lose their spark after a while, and that is what has seemed to happen with Rods. Â We used to go in a few times a week for really good food, at great prices, and had amazing service. Â Over time, we started cutting down our visits and after finally wondering aloud one night, "Why don't we go there much anymore?", it hit us....Rod's has fallen victim to the apathy that most all businesses on the Oregon Coast slide into.
Now granted I miss our favourite server Amy, but do understand that she needs and deserves to move on to greener employment pastures. Â The other servers that we have had are just "going through the motions". Â I really don't like that as a customer that I have to find you out smoking on the front porch while you have tables that you are serving. Â If you go on break, hand off to another server. Â If there isn't another server to hand off to, then you wait until the customers are done and the table is cleared. Â While I support your right to abuse your body and get cancer at a rapid rate, you are not being paid to smoke. Â You weren't held hostage sodomized and forced to work here. Â This was your choice to work here, so do your damn job and take breaks at appropriate times. Â Do other places of employment do this? Â Does your doctor step outside in the middle of an exam to smoke? Â Does your sales clerk at a retail setting, step away while helping you to go outside to pollute their lungs? Â Why is it any different at this job? Â It's bad enough this area is being overrun by tweakers, burn outs, in-breds, drunks, and toothless white trash......do you really have to add to the "ambiance" with your sloth like work ethics?
Rod's used to have large portions of well cooked food. Â Now quality has gone down, things are nickel and dimed (it really costs more for frozen tater tots than frozen fries?), the dinner salad now looks like it should be on a doll house table and for the price, you should be ashamed of serving it. Â Our last meal was cooked by a high school aged kid that was obviously not very skilled, and the time after that everything was overdone in the deep fryer. Â If the customer needs dental charts to identify the remains...it is overdone. Â It is inexcusable that it left the kitchen like that, and further inexcusable that a server would set quality or lack thereof down on a table wen it is obviously burnt.
Sorry, I am using the template for a "real restaurant" to judge Rods, but damn it, close the kitchen if you are going to give up. Â Maybe breakfast is better, but our last 3 dinner visits just sucked.
Happy Hour?? Jaysus, how do you ever stay open selling all of your drinks for 25 cents off?!! Can you smell my sarcasm over the burnt grease smells? That just insults my intelligence. Â But judging from the lack of intelligence that pollutes this county, you will remain in business for a long time, or at least until your alcoholic regulars croak from lung cancer before your servers do.
Sad, as you used to run a decent place.
We came in here for a quick bite and to watch a bit of the OSU game. Â Well, as it turned out the place was a low key locals bar. Â At the time we were in there it was kind of empty but as it got towards the end of the game it picked up with a lot of locals.
Quick and efficient service. Â Tasty burgers and they advertised hand cut fries but these were clearly out of the bag. Â The waitress even admitted some of the items on the menu needed updated.
All in all a low key place where locals congregate and others are welcome. Â I would definitely stop back again.
We checked this place out as we were camping at Fort Stevens and wanted to watch the football game (I know, not exactly roughing it, but I'm getting old so I get a pass). Â It was a decent spot to have a beer or two, grab a bite, and watch the game on one of their four or so TVs. Â The tap selection was not massive but not dismal either. Â The food also was not spectacular but not horrible either. Â Their menu boasted "homemade fries", which if they were truly homemade were the whitest, straightest-cut, most uniform homemade fries I've ever seen. Â But oh well, they were still good and we had a good time watching the game.
Review Source:At first glance you might say " dive bar" and pass by- but this place serves a fantastic breakfast until 1:00! All for $6.99 what a deal. Thick sliced bacon, chubby links, thick cinnamon French toast... Crispy on the outside Hashbrowns that aren't your typical shredded or chunk more like minced. Coffee is served before your cup is emptied. Â Love this place. So overlook the many cig butts outside the door and step over the butt can this place does breakfast right!!
